Flogger23m 2 Posted December 26, 2011 I am looking to buy one of the DLC packs. I am wondering which is better? I am buying it mainly for the SP campaign, as the extra units don't mean much to me. Between BAF and PMC, which campaign is longer and of better quality? How many missions in each? And do they come with any single missions? I liked ArmA's campaign, never finished ArmA 2's due to bugs and terrible mission design, Arrowheads campaign I finished though it wasn't that good. Which are the DLC campaigns most similar to? Dwarden 1125 Posted December 26, 2011 Flogger BAF, anyway You can now finish the ARMA 2 campaign in 1.60 as the bugs are fixed ;) (most of them)
CameronMcDonald 146 Posted December 26, 2011 PMC's campaign is a lot more story-driven, but BAF offers more in terms of content. I would suggest you get BAF, myself. ...but seriously, why not get both?
FSF_TargetZero 10 Posted December 26, 2011 BAF is better, more content.
Flogger23m 2 Posted December 26, 2011 Thanks for the replies. I am leaning towards BAF. I can see myself making missions with the British as well, and not so much with PMCs.
whiskeytango 11 Posted December 26, 2011 The BAF gear is awesome.
kireta21 13 Posted December 26, 2011 As for campaigns BAF has 4 mission long campaign and a lot of single missions (8?). There's no real storyline, just a few suprisingly hot days at FOB in T-stan. Unfortunately you can't play it in coop, or at least I didn't found way to play it in coop. PMC campaign is story driven, more action, less sandbox, (or rather no sandbox, with expeption of maybe 3 missions). Build for 2 players coop campaign is about Hollywood-style Tier-one operators ;) who took job they never should. Longer than BAF, maybe even as long as Arrowhead, not bad for DLC. I would go for BAF, good extension of Arrowhead, more user-made missions, and even whole well made coop-compatible campaign.
metalcraze 290 Posted December 26, 2011 BAF is better. PMC is a failed attempt at bringing CoD to ArmA, down to health regen and your soldier soaking in 5 .50 cal bullets and not dying. PMC is only worth buying if you think that Proving Grounds and PMC soldier textures are worth buying.
Black² 10 Posted December 26, 2011 Yeah I only bought it for the units, high speed low drag gear all day erry day. Don't know why they bothered with all the XM8's, everyone seems to hate them.
metalcraze 290 Posted December 26, 2011 Those XM8s were also the part of ArmA2.
gossamersolid 155 Posted December 27, 2011 I only bought PMC to support BIS. BAF is better.
folgore_airborne 1 Posted December 27, 2011 I would suggest you buy Reinforcements, both DLCs are more than worth playing. Personally I prefer BAF even if its campaign is short, but there are 8 or 9 single missions and the community made campaign Joint Operations (basically another and longer BAF campaign) definitely increase its longevity and overall fun. mr_centipede 31 Posted December 27, 2011 Yep, I like BAF too. I got PMC, but PMC felt very distant... doesnt seems to get the vibes of the BAF missions/campaign... So I suggest to get the BAF first...
lao fei mao 21 Posted December 27, 2011 +1. I bought BAF and PMC to support BIS. I have to say BAF is better than PMC .
froggyluv 2136 Posted December 27, 2011 Just wanted to chime in that Ive owned them both for a while but have just started both campaigns for the first time last night. Earlier assessments are accurate and personally I prefer the BAF more but they are both worthwhile imo.
JSj 12 Posted December 27, 2011 As have been pointed out already, why get just one of them? Especially considering how cheap they are now, there's absolutely no reason not to get them both.
kylania 568 Posted December 27, 2011 Get them both on sale. :)
cotabucky 10 Posted December 27, 2011 +1. I bought BAF and PMC to support BIS. I have to say BAF is better than PMC . I like the PMC for the coop and always like more stuff to add to my editing collection.I also say support bis and get them both :)
yogdogz 11 Posted December 27, 2011 BAF all the way.
Joe98 92 Posted December 27, 2011 If they were 2 separate games and they both cost $100 each then BAF is better. Both are very cheap and both are great! Get Reinforcements ( both in one package). .
Colossus 2 Posted December 27, 2011 In overall content and usefulness in multiplayer, I'd pick BAF any day. Although there are some nice things with PMC too, like the map that is included and the campaign. Though it falls a bit short on the units and vehicles (in my opinion). If I had to choose: BAF. If I had the money: Both.
kylania 568 Posted December 28, 2011 It's a shame the OP didn't grab Reinforcements for $2 when it was still in stock. :)
nkenny 1057 Posted December 28, 2011 BAF. More and better content. PMC. Terrifyingly bad. Seriously the #1 reason why I'm not a arma3 fanboy. -k
folgore_airborne 1 Posted December 28, 2011 BAF. More and better content. PMC. Terrifyingly bad. Seriously the #1 reason why I'm not a arma3 fanboy. -k You mean A3 will be more PMC-oriented rather than A2\OA\BAF oriented?
JSj 12 Posted December 28, 2011 It would seem that way, judging from the information released so far (which admittedly isn't very much yet).
