MultiDiscussion : TES5: Skyrim, BattleField 3, COD, R6 etc.

You do realise that the whole affair is staged right? Meaning there is no actual fighting going on between the AI -they are just ducking and shooting for effect except against Player. It offends me in the same way WWF -phony wrestling does -its all fake.

Yes, hence why I compared it to an action movie, you see? :D

As for hating the game, I am just being honest about what I think of the product, no hate is involved - although maybe a little bit of lament that they don't make games like I want them to anymore. I fully understand and do not judge people who do like BF3 and games like it, I just don't.

Does the PC version of the game have a server browser or are they still doing the same thing as during the beta test?

There is a proper server browser, yes. :)

Damn the campaign was a lot of fun! Pretty good story and nicely rolled together in a kind of tarantino esque manner...

Tried a co-op mission.. My pilot took of and crashed our chopper and killed us both in under a minute..

If there are any serious co-op players on ps3 add me PSNID:Wolfravager

(Is this a repost?)

So, there is this video comparing the PC and PS3 footage. I don't see much difference.

AGbo50Ar420

Watching some real gameplay footage, I would say BF3 reminds me of BF1942. It's not a bad thing I would say, but BF1942 has some advantages BF3 really lacks.

BF3 has some real focus on the competitive side of amateur gaming (with unlockables and everything), while BF1942 was more like a passtime (for me, of course).

If I'll ever buy it, I'll make sure to buy a PS3 just for that game, it kinda looks sharper on that...dont know why you cant see the difference.

Hello all

Quick tip for PC users....

Although, as seen by that youtube video, the console versions graphics are clearly superior, for many more fps in your game set your graphic settings on LOW.

IMHO the game still looks great and the differences from MED/HI are negligable in an MP firefight.

The main thin i noticed was low LOD's of cranes in the distance on some maps, but that's it.

I am running at a fairly low resolution though (1280x1024) so YMMV.

Iv'e never seen a game look as nice on LOW.

Please free to let me know if this is a placebo effect.

Just saw this:

Battlefield 3 lead platform 'switched to consoles' mid-development

Battlefield 3's lead development platform "switched" to consoles in mid-production, DICE GM Karl-Magnus Troedsson has confirmed.

The DICE boss shared the news in the latest issue of PSM3, where he revealed that despite Battlefield 3 looking very much like a shooter designed for advanced PC hardware, the latter stages of Battlefield 3's construction lead on PS3 and Xbox 360 in order to meet release on time.

"We said originally that the PC was the lead SKU of the game, but in mid-production we switched to console as lead platform to make sure we could get all the versions done for release," Troedsson confirmed.

"Our ambition at DICE is to use the power of each individual platform to get the most out of the game," he added.

"In the case of the PS3... I understand that if you compare it to a high-end PC, it's not going to look as good. But if you compare it to other games on the PS3, including other games we've done previously, I have to say I'm very happy with how it looks.

"Hopefully people will agree when they look at it in the same way."

Quite often low seems to run worst for me than higher settings?

Crikey!

I just whacked my settings back to auto (which gives me mid/high) and now i have graphic corruption. poo

Anyhoo, If anyone in the US drinks "Dr Pepper" and doesn't need the BF3 Code for the MP skin, could ya PM me the serial on the can/lid?

What's the worst that can happen?

Well that's no surprise..saw the helicopter flight model recently, someone said it is more difficult than BF2's yet I'm not seeing any need to be concerned about inertia and roll.. Great that they took advantage of the graphics but I wish they left the controls to be a bit more BF2.

it's promising but when i tried the alpha the movement and feel was like playing very old FPS game (in terms of move, aim etc.) ...

maps are quite big (several km per side) which positively surprised me ...

I went in a rage the other day when i was trying to config my logitech 3d pro joystick for helicopter controls, and i wasn't able to assign all axes...I just said fuck it. I'll search a ini file for that

'Battlefield 3' fights for top military simulation title

Perhaps one of the most anticipated and talked about titles for 2011, the game's developers at DICE wanted to raise the bar and go head-to-head against other top-tier military simulation games (i.e. the "Call of Duty" franchise).

I had no idea COD was a military simulator, what exactly does the game simulate?

dont recall it having an editor, i've only played MW1 and got bored with it after I played the campaign and uninstalled it.

Typical for COd to make a game where the Ai do everything for you, just about every mission you played the

AI would run a head of you and almost do everything, and Im like can I play.

I think they missed a title thats been out longer then them both, cough Arma series, hint , hint, cough, hello :h:

Thats ok we have our own class, and genre, you BF3 and COD fight it out, while we continue on to do things no other game does,

as well as have a developer that cares about us and the game, have fun.

Btw were to busy over here bettering out game and playing it to be competing with other games.

Only game I had ever had on my HD the longest was OFP, Arma1, Arma2,OA since their release, only games I play.

I believe the word "simulator" is simply being thrown around very loosely because of the realistic graphics and setting (story aside).

Nothing to get worked up over.

"Battlefield 3" continues its franchise tradition of offering a realistic wartime experience

Statements like this make me cringe...

Nothing to get worked up over.

Disagree, because there will be people who WILL think BF3 is a sim...

Played some Singleplayer and must say it was thrilling, and visually/audibly stunning.

Great for a quick round of action :)

Haven't tried singleplayer yet but have really been enjoying MP for quick action... I just don't have time to play for hours lately and this really does fill a void for me.
