So We've seen a few terrian types through BI games. We now have desert, post apocalipc and easten euroupe in BI offical A2 maps. So the question is simple. If you could decide on the next terrian type, which would you like to see?

Personaly i would like to see a snowey mountainous map, something similar to scotland in the winter (as it is now, maybe without the traffic problems haha). Maybe half populated with the other half mountainous with pine, and holy being the most popular vegitation.

i would like to see :

- big urban west city for Police/SWAT missions (SWAT serie games are not for me, but locations okay),

- big , not small , terrain post-war, like Kolguev, Proving Ground,

- really mountain terrain, like Tatra mountains , not few peaks , but real terrain valeys, mountains hard to climb, etc.,

- something like Chernarus, but more west (not orthodox , but catholic churches, movie, police station, firefighters station, supermarket) with real urban structures (in such big Chernarus it is hard to find place for mission for Police, i cannot find police station location on such map, big, but for some things - useless , cause some houses and big industry),

something like real city in Czech, Poland, Germany , not Chernarus which looks like Belarus or Ukraine or Russia (wood , blue color painted houses, orthodox cerkovs),

- historic map ca. XIX century for historic and WW1 and WW2 maps,

I can understand why a metropolis map would be wanted (As i do also) but i stayed clear of than in my poll since, as we both know, a city is very PC intensive in our maps now. and they are tiny in comprison to RL lol.

Before anyone jumps on me about whats possible and not, Eg the jungle. The map could be small or have many clearings and be sparse etc. Im not an expert but i imagin a full on city is not a possibilty at the moment.

Shezan made the Fallujah map. Huge Urban terrain big city and I have no problems running it on a low end Dualcore. Map is really huge and gameplay is quite smooth for me.

Yes That is a great map, i have no idea how he got away with it haha. However when i say city i was thinking more along the lines of New York or London etc. Lots of enterble buildings, Tall buildings, Very compact etc etc

it depends how big (for memory, polycount etc) are buildings, enterable or not

i can do much bigger city than those in Chernarus which will be fluent playable, how ? making not enterable, low-poly high buildings , easy

Chernarus BIS buildings are very very very very detailed (like damaged roof, break in wall, broken window etc.)

BIS makes mistakes in weapons, some vehicles - but create amazing buidlings (so such island DLC with new buidlings would be awsome oposite to gun DLC)

but i miss islands which i listed, not others

city made of cubic buildings (socrealistic, bureau architecture) can be low poly and high-performance for Police/SWAT missions

I seewhere your coming from but surely half the fun of having a city warzone would be the fact you can bunker down in buildings, or snipe from random skyscrapers, and hide tanks in garages etc.

A very large Central Europe map. 4x chernarus size or more. Gentle rolling terrain (less hilly than Chernarus) with scattered small villages and forests. Wouldn't be that much of a resource hog. Perfect Cold War/WW2 map. Good for mechanized troops, armor and helicopters.

I voted for American Suburbs. In fact, any big urban area would be cool.

I'd pay 20 Euros just for a LosAngeles island with civilians and cars. A mission in GTA4 can generate the same tension as a fierce jungle fight in Vietcong or an all out war in ArmA Evolution.

Skycrapers, burger shops, taxis - would love to have this in ArmA2. :)

but than you would need very strong PC

BIS made good solution, some of their buildings have 2-3 flats that you can enter :]

so now instead of complicated in polycount village Chernarus wooden house, instead of complicated church imagine yourself socialistic concrete blocks (Nogova cities, if you played OFP) and you will have PC-friendly city

cities in Nogova were good , i wish Nogova but with 3 times bigger cities, it would be awsome for Police

(adding zones like command/station of police, firefighter station, plant, manufactory smaller than Chernarus, adding supermarket )

such reworked (real urbanistic structure) Nogova would be something awsome

i planned such island, but it is year work , so i have no time

but BIS DLC of such island would be super (for larger team of people who know how to build it is no effort, for single addonmaker it is horrible effort, when you must have new buidlings, not Chernarussian)

Ice, OldBear and others do super islands, but doing new buildings (with BIS features as destruction) is work for whole team and too hard (time effort) for island makers (specially if yet we not know how to make such buidling like BIS do )

we would need lot of new buidlings (supermarket is just one example)

yes, i was trying to start Polska map (like i done in OFP) with OldBear, but due to lack of time (my) project is stopped (biggest problem is to set terrain realistic in mountains, cause i would love to recreate Tatra mountains)

also i have no idea how to make buidlings working like A2 (churches, super market, some skyscrappers, old town, monuments, busines center, prison etc. )

but not WW2, modern 80s-today

Its an Extraterrestrial that comes down and eats people that point out spelling errors!!!! hahaha!

I surpose that would be one way to get round the problem, hmmm the only real down fall i guess would be PvP since instead of looking for a sniper in a thousand windows, its just the 5 you know are enterable.

Next terrain I'd like to see is one I paid for... Zargabad. Still hasn't been fixed despite us paying for it, the town is pretty good but unplayable with AI due to FPS / Texture popping.

Performance on Zargabad isnt that bad. I have most of the time fluent gameplay. If i hit some FPS holes, i use the IVD tool to reduce to 1.5k VD (on 5760 x 1080). From my point of view no real need to work on that map.

I would love to have a winter/mountain with at least 10x10km. Probably somewhere in alaska or sibiria with old frozn military bases, sciene base, some smaller villages and 2-3 bigger towns. Maybe some mining facilitys and a coast.

I would like to see a bigger winter terrain where players can see+feel Combined Operations in a different season of the year. Perhaps with some new terrain, weather and other features to make it feel realistic + good. :)

Most maps/islands are good for small battles/skirmishes but lack the feeling for something bigger. On bigger maps/islands players could use all kind of vehicles/aircrafts in a more believable/authentic way. Imho there is no need to reduce the gameplay down to infantry/SF action-based scenarios around big cities or urban areas.

Shadow Moses Island, a large scale sea platform,a Supertanker, a Soviet mountain missile complex with it's own runway and some form of jungle.

Any similarity with any Metal gear scenario is purely coincidental, honest.

My "Massacra Project" is a little project focusing on quality terrain, lush green rolling plains for tank/infantry combat, and trying to be what "Proving Ground" should be ;)

Size: 5x5 terrain, two islands.

If I had time for island making I would pick rural USA ;)

A winter map, with forests and snow on the trees and on the roofs. You have to be able to feel the cold.

No worse place on Earth than American suburbs, but I imagine they would be hell to fight. Cover everywhere, but almost none of it hard enough, and no natural lines of defense. Everything mixed up together in one big no-man's land of houses and streets.

I would want a 20 x 20 map with two to three small islands so island hopping operations with choppers, landing ships and such could be made

A 30 x30 or even 40 x 40 would be better but....

Id like a large open terrain like some have mentioned, European style rolling hills similar to chernarus, but more open for tank combat, there really isnt a map that allows for larger scale combat. Id like to see something that would allow tanks to have room to maneuver and engage at realistic ranges, but still have some larger rolling hills for attack helos to be able to get behind and engage the tanks as well. Chernarus has this in a limited ability, but id like to see that expanded.

I got to say I have a soft spot for winter terrain and camo. Nothing has yet beat the FDF islands Rukajärvi and East Border, but also Winter Nogova, etc.

So my vote goes to winter :)

Check out the user made terrain "Celle" by Mondkalb. It's a hell of a map especially when thinking of tank combat.
