So did target indicators on the radar display change at some point? My target indicators have not been showing up as squares (either empty or filled) in the last couple of days. I am seeing a point with a semi-circle over it, or a point with a full circle around it- 957 replies

So Snake, are you saying you'd like community placed objects on the maps to help speed up object placement in release versions? Using those Opteryx object buildings and such?

Nice work Pook. If you don't mind the asking, are you incorporating the JETS sensor updates into your missile CFGs themselves for pilots to take advantage of, or are your new improvements all new script updates? Also, are your launchers still going to be dependent on your custom script work for target sensing, discrimination, and launching patterns? With the ability of modders to make their weapons and vehicles with custom Radar and Sensor ranges out to whatever realistic value they want, I figured some of that would be cross pollinating to weapon system mods like yours.

Vehicle respawn on editor placed F/A 181 jets on USS Freedom results in vehicles spawning turned on with gear down. They start exploding upon contact with the deck. Can anyone suggest a workaround?

12 Km max terrain view distance is only with no mods. I recently found one that enables scripted View Distance out to whatever you can handle. Been running 30KM VD on one of the PMC Air combat maps. @oukej Can you provide an example of the procedure for an LOAL munitions deployment? I'm trying to picture how that would work out in game? If someone else has vid of that procedure that would be great.- 957 replies

Oukej, will there be a comprehensive database, for lack of a better word, of weapon and vehicle sensors once Jets is released? I would think that players would like to know what ranges, angles, etc that their craft can now target at and mark targets with. Such as which jets or PGM's have Look down radars, or fixed forward Cones etc.- 957 replies

That has been confirmed as in. The 3 AA platforms on the USS Freedom will be placeable items in Eden. So you will be able to make SAM sites to guard installations. Now if only they will make some Radar Sites that can link to said SAM sites with Datalinking to allow targeting at longer ranges and give people objectives in missions.

With the USS Freedom coming in it will be a matter of time before modders re-skin it and put it on other sides. I give it like a week, tops, after Jets comes out.

Burnes, I thought I read about some JTAC equipment or mods you put together, possibly earlier in this thread? If that was indeed you, are you planning on working on that some more since it will be a heck of a lot more useful with the Jets DLC coming out? If not, disregard. -
Pookie, If you read on their forums they have an outline of what they want to do in each phase. They will be moving on to adding roads, airbases, buildings, and foliage in successive waves while trying to keep performance up. So we should be seeing airbases we can use to stage out of at some point.

have you found any way to change the range of Active radar itself, and not just the display distance? Would it be possible to put in a toggle for Active Radar range so as to limit your radiation and pickup from long distance?

So, Warlordz.. You are aware that Radar range and detection abilities are fully configurable by modders with the new code base in Jets? There are Variables for Range, Angle, speed, height and a couple others that any modder can implements for their airframe to make them mimic their Real Life™ counterparts? As far as new active defense for Tanks/AFV's? Probably coming in the TANKS DLC.- 957 replies

You're aware that Pookie made a mod called POOKs SAM pack? He custom scripted Radars and SAMS's with discovery and engagements ranges out to 40-70 KM for Arma 3 currently. PS Pookie... someone pointed out that in the BlackWasp MFD there is a selection for HARM. Postulation is that they might have a couple new weapons they are keeping close to the vest for release...

The Asasabad Afghanistan map appears to be quite mountainous. Not sure if it's the BIGGEST with mountains thought. The maps range from 81x81 to 143x143.

Thanks for the insights. So, JETS will come out in one month, May 16th. The new airframes are in now and people are testing them quite a bit. New features and tweaks are going in almost daily. One thing one of the Devs said is that you could configure Radomes and such as Vehicles, and set those with the proper Radar attributes to act as actual Side radars and objectives. So you could make one for each side (Blue, Red, Green) and give it what attributes you want for range, Angle, Scope etc. Then you could place them per scenario and they will report what they see to the appropriate datalink receivers. This would make it a valuable target to take out especially if it is a powerful site. I haven't seen anything about frequency hopping or anything like that. Pretty basic stuff as far as I know. I'll test some stuff out and see what kind of distances I can get with Mavericks using a Datalink spotter heli or Drone. Right now I can hit targets at about 12-14 Km from an F16 or F18 with a Maverick. A10s are visual only sensors unless you're at like 2 KM for IR. So it's a bit harder for them to be used at long range.

What targets where you trying to lock on to? The Shikra stealth has a smaller RCS and is hard to lock onto with your Radar locking missiles. You have to get within a KM or 2 for them to lock on. And IR missiles you have to get almost right behind them and close.- 957 replies

Well, Data linking is in DEV now. As is Emissions Control. You can specify in Editor or script whether a vehicle reports it's own position to Data center for it's side, receives data information, or reports target information. So you can set up Radar vehicles that do all three. They can see targets, report their position to friendlies, and also report the position of any unknown or verified Ally/Enemy targets in their sensor range. Emission control is an editor level setting that controls how Active radar is employed. 1: Default. Radar off until Aware or Combat status. 2: Always ON. 3: Always Off. Jets will be a paradigm changer.

I'd say yes if possible for bombs to simulate a TGP view for BDA. AA? meh you can usually see your Smoke trail and other fighter craft to get a decent idea if an AA hit or not.- 200 replies
