Just played the Battle for Zaros ... I do like the AAC ideas. Now have to turn up the AI numbers for massive battles :) OOOhhhhh grabbing the Tanoa Airport one ... I want jets too ! EDIT: Played a good number of hours on the airport version. I've found that the spawn position of the jets is slightly off - they spend a little time arranging themselves onto the taxiway. Also spent ages watching a group that had just spawned (nowhere near the frontline) and they were in combat mode. They were advancing in bounding overwatch when there was noone within about 2km from them. Is it possible to have units spawn in aware mode, as when they spawn in combat is really slows down the advance?- 303 replies

Attackers do tend to take more casualties unless in real life unless there is more than a 3:1 ratio. This is due to the suppression (or lack of it). In Arma3 the AI don't care about dying and therefore are a bit more gungho. The only real AI mod that made AI react appropriately was bCombat - if you suppressed (and kept suppressing) a position the AI wouldn't even be able to fire back at you. Sure it was a fudge, but quite a realistic one.

Unfortunately the AI attackers won't be using their weapons effectively. In a real battle the tanks would nail those fortifications (with the main cannon in HE) immediately before you'd killed one of the attacker troops (or showered the fortifications in a hail of MG fire) Perhaps what you need is proper suppression. The defenders would be severely suppressed and shouldn't be able to get a shot off.

The Death From Above mission was great indeed. -
All we need to be worried about, with the team size decreasing is to what extent Arma3 will be supported in the future (and for how long). Long after Arma2 development there were still patches, even through the team was then tiny. I would assume that we'll see the same thing happening with Arma3 - but not for at least a couple of years. It makes sense for BIS to start diverting the main team into other avenues (Arma4 or something else) in the very near future. We still do have some major and minor DLCs to come - so it is by no means a death-knell just yet :)

Well everything is upsidedown anyway as you are in the southern hemisphere..... how do you guys stop falling off the world? /jk I'll run mine over the weekend - so if the GitHub is up by then I'll put the newest version up.

Could the circle be shown in map mode only (or are you thinking overlaid onto mainscreen view) ? I can remember a mod in which you set your loiter position on the map and the aircraft flew off to it and started the loiter circle. I think it was for a Spooky AC130. I thought BIS had sorted the camera shake for TGP. -
Wow .. and to think this thread was called 'Arma 3 dev team decreasing' not 'What I want for Christmas'.

I think the AIS would be a great fit for Dissension (once we have the ability to recruit AI). Even just one AI to recruit initially would make using armed vehicles useful. Glad to see you cn fix the AI in the water bug. I'd be happy testing out any fixes etc on my dedi to help. @Erendil good work and ideas so far mate! Keep them coming.

Need MOAR areas ... I know the south island really well now :) Is there a way to automate new island 'area' setup, or is it entirely manual ? I'd love to see some CUP terrains. I love how the mission changes on each run - sometimes helicopters will be in the areas, sometimes not. Would it be possible to have jets now as well flying overhead (as a parameter of course)? The mission plays so well with 192 AI running around ... I'm very impressed. Still no UAV in the air however. Keep up the good work. Have been jumping onto your server from time to time.- 303 replies

Version 2 is working well, but I'm finding the cameras (on the blackfish especially) are very shakey - makes it difficult to aim properly. I'm also finding it hard to judge exactly where I'll be orbiting. Is it possible to show that player only a loiter point? Can the loiter radius be changed on the fly? Thanks for your continued work ... it is really shaping up to be a must-have mod ! -

^^ This would be great. @tvig0r0us - currently the 15 addons required are massively going to cut down on those playing TC - as much as it is beautiful. -
Psychobastard's AIS has been rewritten and although in beta, it is effectively as good as it will get (according to PSB!) It is very much improved from the original and will replace BIS revive very well. The workflow is great - just ask if there is anything that we (the community) can help with testing ... happy to help. Tell me - is there a way to recruit ANY AI ? Perhaps it is my low rank that is stopping me - but I've been solo so far :*( I logged into my dedi after about 2 hours to find that my base had been overrun by enemies. Where was my defence ? I'm not totally convinced they were effective at repelling a few attackers (took me a few revives to kill them all!) Oh and yeah .. that boat on the road was also nailing a lot of my AI. Have you noticed AI going for a swim? I've now seen several groups swimming out in the bay - not very clever of them :(
