DESCRIPTION OPEX is an immersive, realist and fully dynamic task generator for ArmA III military simulator. The first version was initially introducing the French Army fighting against terrorist organizations all over the world (hence the French name Opérations Extérieures - means External Operations). This new version now allows players to chose among several armies, depending on enabled extra mods ! AUTHOR'S NOTE Bonjour ! I have to be honest, OPEX has totally be inspired by MSO from ArmA II. After I have tried it, I thought the idea of a dynamic task generator was brilliant, but some features were not perfectly fitting to what I was expecting for and some others were missing. So firstly, I tried to customize the original MSO but finally I chose to rebuild everything from scratch. After more than 8 years of development (yeah, really !), and even if there are still many things to do, it's now time for sharing all I have did so far ! MAIN FEATURES Made by Gemini Mission that required more than 2000 hours of learning, experimentations and development (project started in 2012) SP and MP compatible (from 1 to 50 players) Unique immersive and realist atmosphere Select the theater of operations (Europe, Middle-East, Africa...), your army (France, USA, Russia, UK, Spain, Czechia...) and the opponents (Taliban, Islamic State, Boko Haram, generic ultranationalists...) - extra mods may be required to get all options (see below) Entirely built with random parameters for generating unpredictible situations and unlimited replayability Custom menu at startup to enable/disable/set main mission features Plenty of things to do: select a specific task (among more than 20 available), patrol to find and fight the enemy, locate and destroy weapon caches, neutralize IEDs, search buildings and interrogate local people to gather intel, capture opponents... KNOWN BUGS/ISSUES Picture "pictures\overview.paa" not found at startup when joining server despite the picture is present in the mission folder, I don't know how to fix this. Some vehicles are sometimes exploding when spawning because collision detection is not reliable at 100% despite I'm trying to improve BI's commands as much as possible. Ambient AI animations may sometimes be weired when playing on MP.   2. Hello, DynO function is not working anymore on ArmA III as the setVehicleInit command has been disabled for security reason. So, I tried to do it by myself but I don't know how to use BIS_fnc_MP that is suggested on BI's wiki.     Hi everybody, As my personal life has recently evolved, I inform you that I don't have time anymore for continuing OPEX development and support. Maybe I will try to fix a few things later but do not expect any new update or help soon. If something is going bad with OPEX, you have to deal with it. I can only suggest to read the in-game FAQ and all the comments on the Steam Workshop or on the official forum: maybe the answer to your question is already there. If necessary, just restart or reset the mission: in general this solves most of the issues. I would love to have more time to continue this project I started and developed alone since 2012 but there are things much more important in a man's life: if it's not already the case for you, I wish you to become a dad someday 🙂 I hope you'll continue to enjoy OPEX as much as possible despite the possible bugs and issues 😉 Thanks again to the ArmA community for all the help and support !     Yes. Everything is explain in the FAQ. Using the persistent save system disables the vanilla save system. So if you want to use the classic one, reset the mission and do NOT use the persistent save.

    @shi4stone This is already the case, demobilizing AI units in the delivery area funds back the intel. @terrydraper I don't understand, can you say it again with an understandable syntax ?

    @shi4stone Everything outside the HQ is dynamic and regenerated each time a player leaves the area so there is not sector to control. Getting intel allows to recruit extra supplies, supports etc... At this time the persistent save doesn't allow to save AI teammates because it requires to much work and I have no time left to work on it. Maybe someday Bohemia will add a save system compatible in MP, so we won't have to try to do it by ourselves. @Guillaume Massé Sorry I don't have time left to update it. @otarius-big What recommendation about mod list and mission settings do you need ? To install OPEX on a dedicated server, just do it as any other MP mission.

    This check is case sensitive so if mod folders are not exactly the same, this happens. But if mods are properly installed I suppose that should work. Anyway, did you try to reset the mission, or try the other versions, to check if your issues happen every time ? If yes, can you please use the "Report bug" action from the same laptop in the game, and send me your RPT file ? So I could have more details about what's going on. Anyway, OPEX has just been updated to version 2.06.     Thanks for the feedback. It seems that most of the times, possible issues encountered with OPEX are because the server is overloaded by remote scripts execution. So restarting it may help a lot. In addition, even if the persistent save should avoid losing progression, resetting all can help too, as it assures you to play with 100% fresh data. There is probably many ways to improve all scripts included in OPEX, especially because I'm developping it since 2012 (so some scripts and way to think are totally outdated) but as I said previously I have unfortunatly almost no more time to work on it agin. There will probably be a last update in a few days to fix last things I've noticed but after that do not excpect much more and frequent updates. In case of troubles, just apply the two tips above.

    No, nothing changed about that. Simply keep in mind that this is ArmA: some unexpected things may sometimes happen. Also, maybe the one who called for the transport did a missclick.

    @vitali66 Try to manually reset the mission. Start a local MP game, then open the debug console (Esc), write execVM "reset.sqf" then press Exec. @Say_Hey I don't understand what is the issue ? The enemy amount and position is random and may also depend on the selected task. @furia Already reported, I'm working on it. @Dynablue This could be caused by server overload. When something strange happens, the best thing to do first is to restart the mission. If you used the persistent save after succeeding a task, this shouldn't be a problem as your progression has been saved. Anyway, repairing/rearming/refueling areas are working properly on my side, even it's not automatic anymore - but you just need to select the proper wheel action (you are right, I need to update the FAQ).

    Thanks for the feedback. Nope, I never encounter so much enemies. But as many OPEX functions are spawning a more or less random amount of units, I suppose that in some rare cases, if you're not lucky at all, it may happen. If it happens again, don't hesitate to use the "Report a bug" wheel menu on the Tactical Operation Center and then to send me your RPT file by email. This action updates this file with some OPEX variables, so this helps me a lot to better understand the situation of the mission. Anyway, good to know that you succeeded to survive to this attack 😄

    After you have installed the tent, you need to use the "Set as camp" wheel action to enable the respawn point. I have tested it again a few seconds ago in MP as a local host, it works as intended. Also, before anyone reports it: The new actions to join/leave a player's group are not working properly right now. It will be fixed with the next update. The rest actions attached to the camp tent and sleeping bag are not working neither: it will also be fixed soon. Sorry about these mistakes.

    There will be a new wheel action that should allow to do that in the next update of OPEX. Did you try the tent from Gemini Items mod or the vanilla one ? Also, what doesn't work exactly ? Is the tent visible for anybody ? Is it only the respawn position that doesn't appear for everyone ? The sleeping bag is not for rewpawn: it's only for resting (so it's only useful if the primary needs feature is enabled). Is this one working (you should have seen a wheel mouse action to have rest) ? Only the guy who called the support is able to confirm where to move. Didn't he close his map by mistake ? The other players can't confirm the destination.

    @terrydraper As it's written in the FAQ, the persistent save has some limitations so it doesn't keep AI teammates for now. As a workaround, just dismissed them before leaving to get back some intel points, and enlist a new team next time. You are doing right, after you finished just save your mission progression and abort. Your previous save will be automatically loaded next time you start the mission. @furia Thanks again for your positive messages. That's normal, as far as I know you are the first one that asks that. For most other people it's more convenient to don't take care about the group management when there is no AI teammate. But I'll try to see how to make a function that allows that. Mobile respawn should work for any player but as you know, in ArmA it's very hard to develop reliable things as SP, MP (local) and MP (dedicated) are not working the same way at all. So I'll try to check that too. Air transport: as soon as the group of the one who called in has get in, his map should open so he should be able to click where he wants to move. Didn't he closed the map by mistake ? I'll try to check again that too anyway. Dead bodies: you are right the script was limited to land vehicles by mistake, I'll update that quickly. Fast rope: I think it's a complex function to develop and I think that there are several mods that are able to do that (ACE for example). Maybe one day, if I get the knowledge. Fast deployment: if enabled, just use the wheel action attached to the white board fixed on the wall on the Tactical Operation Center. This allows to be teleported where you want on the map (but be aware, after that you can't go back the same way). The goal of this function is to quickly go back to the battlefield after a respawn. Anyway, I'll try to do what I can as soon as possible but as I said previously, I don't have very much time left to work on OPEX as much as before, so don't expect much modifications and quick fixes.
