AndresCL 10 Posted January 18, 2010 But we gave you the mission editor you ungrateful fools! The DR mission editor that you cant freaking run from inside the game, making you want to rip your balls out?:)
-RIP- Luhgnut 10 Posted January 18, 2010 (edited) But we gave you the mission editor you ungrateful fools! the editor is nothing more than an object placer. Once the object is down, start coding.... and coding.... and coding. Yeah BIS compiles the engine, but the objects and such are open ready for the compiled code to take over. They could have done it (CM) but they chose all along not to. Gotta protect the holy EGO engine. (Piece of crap.) sic-disaster 311 Posted January 18, 2010 And from now on, when you mention a great game by the name of "Operation Flashpoint", people will no longer have no idea what it is. Instead, they'll automatically associate with the garbage that is Dragon Rising, not knowing of the gold that came before it. It truly is sad. Wouldn't it be nice if BIS had kept the name and CM could have f*cked off? :( I'm used to that by now. Whenever i mention Rainbow Six or Ghost Recon to anybody, guess what they associate the name with... It even came so far once that someone was trying to give me advice, that if i wanted 'truely tactical gameplay' i should play GR:Advanced Warfighter, and if wanted to play some codstyle run and gun stuff i should play Rainbow Six. I was just stunned, like, what the FUCK are you saying? In my mind i called him by so many bad names that alone would earn me a ticket to hell. And ofcourse the ignorant fool had never even heard of Operation Flashpoint or ArmA
SprintJack 10 Posted January 18, 2010 (edited) http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/industry_sectors/technology/article6991032.ece Not a wise choice from that investor. Codemasters should have end their misery now, not drag out it even more. Edited January 18, 2010 by SprintJack
JdB 151 Posted January 18, 2010 http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/industry_sectors/technology/article6991032.eceNot a wise choice from that investor. An excellent choice actually. Investors aren't interested in a good name, they're interested in profits. Codemasters always manages to extort some money from the uninformed. Once a name goes sour (legal issues, public outcry, no more profit), you just create a new front for your organization, dump the old name and move the valuable assets over to the new shell. And the cycle continues ... The reputation of Codemasters is as insignificant to these investors as Operation Flashpoint was to Codemasters. Oh, the irony. Flash Thunder 10 Posted January 18, 2010 WTF BBQ, I hope Codemasters kills themself http://community.codemasters.com/forum/operation-flashpoint-dragon-rising-game-pc-113/404664-helios-answers-sdk-question.html NO SDK, NO anything because its "Hardcoded" into the abysmal Ego Engine. read the last post that guys pissed. :yay: Screw Codemasters, BIS please buy back the name they have completely soiled it. Tonci87 163 Posted January 18, 2010 I bet 5 bucks that there won´t be a developer explaining the situation on the CM Forums. They are hiding under a rock now...

NoRailgunner 0 Posted January 18, 2010 Any company is going to make profit as long as people buy products because of dozens of great trailers/teaser, previews, marketing hypes and non-final/crappy releases. Gamers stupidity seems to be infinite but profitable. ;) That sums up the consumer market perfectly, not just with games. People settle for mediocrity and don't bother looking for or demanding something better because they're "too busy" to try.

Flash Thunder 10 Posted January 19, 2010 omg, This is so sig material; "...but at least DR can run on a console, ..." If that doesnt say it all...:j: You know it only works on consoles because of the huge limitations that were put into the EGO engine, like only having 4 HIGH lods, 64 entity limit and the tether. You get what you pay for with consoles, bad graphics, limits limits limits. Is it possible to run the game with out limits, well I think you only need one brain cell to answer that. Bulldogs 10 Posted January 19, 2010 That quote was from me with some subtle sarcasm. The full quote was about how you couldn't mod, or change fov, or have massive battles, etc, but at least you could play it on consoles ('cause that's what every game needs to live by)
W0lle 1052 Posted January 19, 2010 Screw Codemasters, BIS please buy back the name they have completely soiled it. That would be a very bad idea, waste of money too. What BIS shall do with the ruined name now? It would take ages to rebuild the reputation. :D
Stryker_1 10 Posted January 19, 2010 That would be a very bad idea, waste of money too. What BIS shall do with the ruined name now? It would take ages to rebuild the reputation. :D Agreed, ARMA II is catching on and why stop the snowball effect. CM has marketed ARMA II in an unintentional way...BIS is now appreciated even that much more thanks to CM....lol. On an upwards with Operation Arrowhead! Flash Thunder 10 Posted January 19, 2010 That would be a very bad idea, waste of money too. What BIS shall do with the ruined name now? It would take ages to rebuild the reputation. :D You know you're right W0lle. :) But if BIS decides to make a second Arma 2 expansion they should call it Dragon Uprising and it should take place on Kiska and involve the PLA vs USMC story. :D That would be a nic spit in the face! Show em how its done BIS!!!!
Tonci87 163 Posted January 19, 2010 I´still waiting to see if someone from the community will dare to make the OPF DR Campaign into Arma 2. We have PLA Troops, we have the Island (Still WIP) so it shouldn´t be a Problem. Well that would be a really epic spit in the Face "Look CM what the community of ARMA2 can do, we make your game better than you can"
SwiftyBoy 0 Posted January 19, 2010 "Look CM what the community of ARMA2 can do, we make your game better than you can" Well, we couldn't make it worse... Seriously though, apart from the obvious lulz, why would anyone really bother? I mean, Skira/Kiska as implemented by CM is officially "the world's dullest warzone", with a couple of hamlets (sorry, "towns", thanks Sion), a big mountain, some roads going nowhere, AND A LIGHTHOUSE! Gasp, a LIGHTHOUSE! I'd say, recreating the massive fail of DR in the ArmA engine would be an insult to the hyper-talented guys like Fromz who give us all these brilliant mods to play with. The hour or so it would take a mission maker to cobble together Operation Gashpoint: Sunken Dragon using ArmA's editor would be much better spent creating a proper ArmA mission, for ArmA people. IMHO, obviously.
Tonci87 163 Posted January 19, 2010 Well you might be right about that, but I think the Spit in the Face thing is kind of worth it
SwiftyBoy 0 Posted January 19, 2010 (edited) Well you might be right about that, but I think the Spit in the Face thing is kind of worth it I reckon the Codies "community" is doing enough of that at the moment, without the ArmA modding community joining in... Like I say, I agree there's massive lulz in it, but I'd rather see our talented modders spending time building killer ArmA content, than kicking a poor dying Dragon to death, it's nearly dead anyway now they've confirmed there's not going to be any possibility of adding mods to the bland "meh-fest" that is DR... IMHO again, obviously. Edited January 19, 2010 by SwiftyBoy Just my $0.02...
