Jez, it's a standardized answer to a common problem (not even specific to DR) - do you really expect them to type such a list with multiple recommendations (not just 'get faster internet' btw.) anew each time? What do expect them to tell you? Something like 'Wait, I'll get my magic wand and fix it for you'??? It's good to write them (that way your problem gets logged in their bug tracker), but keep real in what you expect as an immediate answer.

BTW: what is your or your friends upstream to the ISP? I doubt is a full 100Mbit. Downstream is fairly irrelevant if information needs to flow both ways, especially for the host of a mp game... Maybe DR is bugged, but ping times are usually more depending on the actual network traffic or the infrastructure used, so the hints given on how to identify possible bottlenecks are not such a bad start.

Noone talked about magic wand... I remember when my Arma1 DVD broke inside my CDRom and i contacted BIS support. It took 2 hours to get an answear from actual person, who asked me to take photos of my manual, box and the broken CD, I did and after 5 days i got appology mail with brand new DVD and they packed an extra Arma1 soundtrack into that mail for my trouble :) That my friend IS a customer support.

I didnt ask for a magic wand, i wanted an answear why could that be happening, which is pretty ok i think since i bought a broken product. And they didnt even bother... I can achieve better values by pinging some random chinese ip adress that i can get during a session with my friend who lives 7 kms away. That should not happen even on P2P imo...

Did you try a normal ping (i.e. not the ingame display)? If it's the same with the standard ping command then there's a network bottleneck, if not it's a DR problem. Simple as that.

I lol'd at all the disappointments they constantly were getting on the game.

Then there was no demo. The game sucked and there never will be any dedicated servers for this game even if it say there is on the box. The developers have bailed as soon as they got the money. Now i feel sorry for everyone who bought the game.

Well, I don't feel sorry for him either, but the Devs/CM hung him out to dry. I have an app that if I click on a persons Alias, it autosearches the web for their handle and pics and stuff. The guy is like 20 years old. Was a guest of CM at E3. Now CM hung him out to dry and have pretty much cut ties with him so it seems. He's now putting the game down as well. His last few posts have been on the negative side.

Yeah, confirmed, no dedicated servers. CM isn't even responding to anything, and is giving Polaris a brush off.

Interesting stat:

The average time a person plays OFP/DR with Xfire loaded is 1hr 15min per day.

BI: if you keep supporting Arma 2 and keep bringing out the occasional "next gen" game and never betray our trust, you've got a customer for life here.

If you don't keep on with dedicated servers and supporting your customer base (not a problem from what I've seen so far), I'll add any and all games labels to my Permanent Boycott list - currently consisting of Codemasters and Infinity Ward. Not even EA got on that list with their 3 install limit (I don't like to tie my games into any limiting system - in case they turn the servers off)... they just got a limited boycott until they changed their system.

I was one of those who pre-ordered Dragon Rising, not knowing about the split with BI and not having played the first, only to get ripped off by Codemasters. I was also looking forward to MW2, only to get that shot down too. Right now, I'm pretty disappointed in the PC games production... I can only hope that BI and EA (how ironic is that?) can keep the standards high. Heck, EA is really making the most of the gap in the "pick up and play" gaming market - apparently they're bringing back the old adversary to CoD - Medal of Honour - to compete with them. From the release date, I suspect they're using DICE's Battlefield: Bad Company 2 engine to speed it up, so it'll just need new maps and no vehicles, I'm guessing.

It is a total BS response on there part. As for the rest of your post, yeah you can play the game only SP all you want forever, but that wasn't what THEY where talking about, they are talking about MP PC, not PS3 SP...They have legitimate gripes, you have lame ass responses...all defending CM...

Well if they keep selling DLC to the console lambs they just might pay for the dev costs, but the amount of ill will they have generated will take a longtime to ever get back. Dirt2 will pull the race guys back, but most "core" racers left them a longtime ago with how they destroyed CMR...

Hell, i could join the CM forums.

However, my account would probably get banned after post #1, considering what some people are getting infractions for.

Maybe even if they weren't as harsh as they are now, i probably still wouldve get banned.

And next to that, it just saddens me to see what happened to the best game ever, and having to read all those fanboy threads of people who have no right to play the 'sequel' that is rightfully ours. (with 'ours' meaning the people who played OFP for years and loved it)

Sorry if this is over the top to some of you, this is about more than a game. Of late I've seen very questionable business practices, not unlike the DR snafu. Some much closer than I'd like. If these are examples of what morals and ethics we are turning to as a world society, in trusting, serving, and looking out for one another, fucking shoot me now. Talk about hell on earth.

The people over there at CM, those making the calls on how to extract cash from what they view as a domesticated herd of money animals, need a serious, eye opening, ass whipping. A physical or at least mental variety would be nice, but I think I will have to settle for the financial sort. May not have to wait long.
