Quote[/b] ]as the rhapsody goes: “I am just a poor boy, I need no sympathy, because I am easy come, easy go, a little high, little low, anyway the wind blows, doesn’t really matter to me…â€, to end on classic Queen quote.

That part made me smile.

Also, sent a mail to Eurogamer and Gamespot (which NEVER replies)

They used to (gamespot). I used to be an active forum member there... I first subscribed there about 3-4 years back and they pretty much answered any questions I had... not anymore sad_o.gif

I just notice the mission editor of ofp:dr which seems some what promising

Hope BI would notice and try harder to improve ARMA2 editing tools and mission editor too

If there were a bunch of simple commands that could be implemented in the editor accompanied by a short, real time demonstration on how to use it without any use of scripts - it would ignite an insane amount of interest and you would have thousands of little mission makers just playing around on their own and a lot of others would branch out into the world of MP smile_o.gif

Looking at the EgoTech video it looks good (although at 2:00 is that a bunny hop the AI is doing?! ), but the comment at the end - about 'pawning the enemy' - leaves me alittle worried that they're influences are more Counter Strike than the original Flashpoint because no self respecting Flashpoint fan would utter such a profanity.

It does indeed.

Ofcourse there is this small risk that n00b designers don't get nothing out of it. They open it, look at huge amounts of buttons and menu bars and stuff... And quits it as tool looks too powerful and too complicated to learn easily. I've had those weak moments with atleast Vietcong, Farcry, Crysis + Oblivion's and Morrowind's modding tools.

Only editors which i've used are simple ones. There might be more deeper, but first impression has to be this: "Hey! I can handle this in hour or two". ArmA/OFP's editor is good example of this, simple at start but very advanced (and complex) in the end.

Maybe they should at least keep the beginner mode as simple as possible.

There seems to be some sort of helping system integrated in the Arma 2 editor.

Dunno how comprehensive it will be though.

how about a 3D editior, as far as i know BIS still plan to have one.

well, if modders can creat one on their own then i see no huge problem for BI to build one and hardcorded into the game tounge2.gif

Quote[/b] ]yeah a 3d part in the mission editor where you can fine tune the placement of already placed objects.

Would make placement of soldiers and other smaller objects in urban areas much easier  smile_o.gif

ops wrong thread :P thought it was arma 2 :P

Yeah that would make mission editing so much easier and you don't have to waste time in placing units.

Looking at the tech demo again, what award did the Ego actually win?

It´s a variant of the engine used in Colin McRae: DiRT™ and Race Driver: GRID™ that both won awards.

An engine itself hardly ever wins an award, but the games that base on an engine do.

I know that, but transferring the awards to the successor is a bit weird.

That's like automatically calling OFP2 Game of the Year inlove.gif

yeah its marketing thing, if the engine's been used in other sucessful titles people will notice it easier wink_o.gif

The wounding + Repair System sounds interesting, but thats it about that new infos.

But yes i hope we wont see the odd magical healing and magic repairs like we had in OFP1 and Arma1.
