SLX Mod WIP

Why are vehicles not able to hold formation while moving fast? A tank platoon always falls apart.

If you mean "FULL" movement speed they aren't supposed to be able to keep formation with that. As far as I know it means that the group will keep moving at max speed without waiting for units that happen to fall behind.

In the next update could you add an option so that it doesn't take a medic to stabalize someone, it just takes longer like it used to be. When a medic is hit or wounded in a squad then no-one is there to tend to the wounded. This leaves wounded people all across the field.

If the questions I ask have been answered already then I apologise, but there are far too many pages in this thread to go through.

1) Is this mod compatible with Zeus AI (I've read that it is with ACE)?

2) Is this mod modular (can I use just certain parts of it)?

3) For MP - Do both Server & Client require the mod installed?

The mod is modular, check the readme file or the first post of this thread to see dependencies.

AFAIK If you don't want the server to crash everyone would need the mod including the server this because of some effects and animations.

Brilliant work as ever Solus. Is it possibly to improve the infantry's Ai versus tanks ? They really suck at it, especially in urban environments

It means troups are not coming for reinforcements in GL3.

I'm still having CTD issues. The latest release is really unstable. Sorry but I can't exactly narrow it down to what causes the crashes.

Could someone explain what the file SLX_NoManeuver causes?

Well, if I remember well it meant to keep your squad in formation better, they won't automatically go for cover and engage. Might be useful in CQB as they will not wandering away all the time. But I may not be right. Can Solus confirm as Kroky stated it differently?

Same issues, but more CTD's when I use SLX with ACE.

Sorry about the crashes, they seem to be gone now but I couldn't find out what was causing them. I was getting the crashes while testing one group of M1A2s vs. one group of T90s, it would usually crash when the crews of the killed tanks were about to run away and were dealing with the wounded, but the crash went away after a few AI changes. It's possible it might have been something to do with the combination of dragging wounded, dismemberment, and ragdoll. I'll look into that more later.

Changes:

Fixed vehicles not keeping formation.

Fixed teleporting to [0,0,0] sometimes when changing a tire.

Fixed some max dropped weapon deleting errors.

Added gear menu to picking up dropped weapons.

Fixed knock back to kneel animation after dropping weapon.

Added slow crawling for wounded people.

Fixed wounded players able to exit vehicles for first aid.

Made BIS first aid animations work better with SLX first aid.

Made AI people use full first aid animations.

Fixed main drop down wounded/dead animation clipping into ground.

stubs: In veteran mode the healing is limited to one time only, in regular mode it can be used until they are healed enough to move.

LondonLad: Server and clients apparently don't necessarily need to both have the mod, I don't know what it looks like when things are different, but it won't crash.

verde13: I might look into it later.

MadMike.48th: NoManeuver disables the GL3 maneuvers such as bounding overwatch to attack or withdraw, traveling to provide backup, and taking cover to defend.

Hi!

Apart from the awesomeness SLX is, I stumbled across a wierd thing I'm not sure I saw in earlier versions - if I shoot a dead body with heavy machine gun an incredibly large blood explosion appear... like GBU-large.

AI-soldiers became very silly now :(

I alone have destroyed the whole group, and they only ran around and crept , shot at my party (but haven't wounded).

Myshaak: I can't reproduce that, what mods were you using and what was the situation exactly?

SenChi: They seem to work ok for me, although maybe they go for the wounded too soon and could attack more. Also their effectiveness is based a lot more on their skill now which affect morale and accuracy a lot. Suppressive fire are wounded/killed cause morale to go down and can stop their attacking.

I am not going to do anything else with the dismemberment system. And it can be disabled with the maxgibs setting if someone makes a better one.

Is there any way to decrease the spotting distance of enemys? I always get spotted from ridiculous distances. thanks

Hi Solus,

I apologize, I did try to run SLX on vanilla ArmA2 and the "blood & guts" were normal. I did some testing though and found out that a combination of SLX, WarFX and Charon's Undead mod can produce results never before seen, never before seen, never before seen... :cool:

I run SLX and WarFX without problems ..... so perhaps Undead mod is your problem.

Yep. I run much more mods but I disabled them just to see what is causing it. Undead mod by itself doesn't do it either, just these 3 at once.
