-TwK-Danny 0 Posted September 2, 2009 Am I blind or what...I dont see the mouse smoothing in game options... It should be under "controls", on the right side below Y axis and X axis settings.
evilfury 0 Posted September 2, 2009 Am I blind or what...I dont see the mouse smoothing in game options... I experienced same problem. You just have to use -mod=beta or just run arma 2 beta shortcut.
Alex72 1 Posted September 2, 2009 (edited) Hey BIS gave us mouse smoothing WITH value slider in-game! I thaught it was ON/OFF only... This is superb! EDIT: And newsflash - it works to slide it mid game! No restart needed. Again, superb BIS!!! :) Alex Edited September 2, 2009 by Alex72
eagleone 1 Posted September 2, 2009 (edited) deleted. Alex72 yep, it is -mod=beta fault ) Edited September 2, 2009 by Eagleone
Alex72 1 Posted September 2, 2009 Ok im not sure about the latest versions, but as Kju reminded some of us: Do you have -mod=beta in the command line when starting that beta? It was needed at least some versions back. Maybe it is fixed and the russian version is to blame. No idea mate. Alex
ShaiCZ 10 Posted September 2, 2009 Got an annoying bug in Manhattan. Whenever I am in a village (any village) I am hearing radio broadcasting about the terrorist attack in Moscow. In one of the villages, it even echoed like 10times, as if from every single house! Moreover, the broadcasting fails to reflect any rules of how sound should travel in space - thus, I can hear the radio even ca 200 metres from the village. Also, as regards AI, it happens to me quite often that when dismounting a chopper, at least one of my team members gets injured or killed by the chopper. Last time, as soon as I dismounted, I got smashed by the machine!!! Fix it pls! And finally: whenever Iam talking to Starforce (or Shaftoe) or whenever Maddox is talking to me, I CANNOT give any orders only until the speach is over. Needs to be fixed. pauliesss 2 Posted September 2, 2009 I experienced same problem. You just have to use -mod=beta or just run arma 2 beta shortcut.Well, I was running arma 2 beta shortcut but without -mod=beta, now it is working fine, mouse smoothing full ON. :D
4 IN 1 0 Posted September 2, 2009 (edited) Isnt that there is tools that can force v-scan off? Like rive-tune(or something like that) etc? Edited September 2, 2009 by 4 IN
rundll.exe 12 Posted September 2, 2009 trying out the latest beta. It's nice to have mouse smoothing options ingame...But still... there should be some other way for BIS to get to the mouse lag problem. This is the only game I have ever had this problem. By setting mouse smoothing I can now choose between rubbery, really slow mouse lag or skippy stuttering mouse movement. There is just no way to set it working fine. There must be some serious low level problem with how Arma2 reads the input from the mouse. Have they disabled the triple buffering yet? And most of all... Have the deserted the mouse problem now, thinking it's solved with the mouse smoothing option? For me the game moves between really bad control and completely unplayable... Sadly I have to agree... I had the discussion before with suma before (talking about mouse being a differential input device) but I still cant believe this is the best they can do. The cursor in menu's works fine, so why not just take the mouse position from that (you got the screen borders, but im sure the readings wont stop) and hook it to your crosshair? It worked like that in OFP didnt it? Obviously im thinking too simple, so I think some more technical explaination from the devs is needed for us to understand the problem and try to find a remedy. gonk 0 Posted September 2, 2009 I experienced same problem. You just have to use -mod=beta or just run arma 2 beta shortcut. That is bit of a "gotcha"...for new players and for bis as well. How many ppl are not using the -mod=beta. I assume you will get unreliable feedback if it is not set as you will be running a hybrid game.. part beta and part normal... Bis might want to look at the beta install program having the ability to setup a desktop shortcut automatically. Otherwise they can be chasing their own tail... Anyway... BIS, Thanks for the chance to beta test...
Nikoteen 24 Posted September 3, 2009 Personally, I don't have mouse lag issue. Occasionally, on severe FPS drop, yeah sure I admit there should be a lagging, but nothing new since Arma (for me at least). Nonetheless, my main issue with the different patches is related to performance department. I mean the game is already a mess to optimise for each environment, but I manage to find a good compromise with 1.03. Actually, running the different patches sent me backward, performance wise (stutters and texture loading up to 58946_Beta). I don't know if it's related to mouse lag struggle but I feel worried about this 1.04 if it's follow this way. By the way, since I got 6 Gigs of RAM, I'm stuck with 182.50 nvidia drivers if I don't want the big Tex Mess ;) I would be a nice idea to fix that too. InFireBaptize 0 Posted September 3, 2009 could not notice the difference in mouse movement between full/off mouse smoothing! BIS please focus on performance issues, mouse lag is user related issue.
ShaiCZ 10 Posted September 3, 2009 I downloaded the 946 beta and after some extensive gameplay couldnt help but notice a decrease in performance. While with the previous beta patches and a bit of tunning I managed to get rid of most of the slow-loading textures, silver heads and flickering + the game would run smoothly, with 946 the issues seem to be BACK!! And things go even worse when I turn ON the post-processing - the loading of textures slows down even more (while I guess it should have been the other way round). Come one BIS, whatever you did in between say 834 and 946, make it back pls! HD 4850 1GB Vapor-X 3GB Ram WinXP
Bulldogs 10 Posted September 3, 2009 I think if you classified it as a user issue then you'd have to classify performance as user issue as well, as not everyone is affected by mouse smoothing problems and not eveyone is affected by performance issues, but many people are affected by one or both of these issues. nouty 10 Posted September 3, 2009 I liked the new build... mouse smooth slider is a great addition :). Now if we could only get the sound working. This is a nice start BIS, keep it up!

I agree. E.g. I have no idea what this mouse lag issue really is - never had a problem with it. On the other hand, I have suffered from serious performance issues (especially texture-related) from v1.01. Hopefully, BIS can get their hands on the issues just as they did with mouse smoothing. mr_centipede 31 Posted September 3, 2009 as for me, my main only concern is the sound issue... but i mostly played as infantry, so didn't notice much else other than from infantry perspective. fought mostly against infantry too, so my experience with ARMA2 hasn't been 'thorough' or extensive. Mudkip 0 Posted September 3, 2009 Has anyone else noticed the new HUD thingy in the top left corner that shows your ammo? I like it, it's more minimalist now. Suggestions: -Difficulty option for showing ammo, when disabled it should show magazine count and fire mode only.
rundll.exe 12 Posted September 3, 2009 Bis might want to look at the beta install program having the ability to setup a desktop shortcut automatically. Otherwise they can be chasing their own tail... Dont understand the problem, the setup program automaticly creates a shortcut in your arma folder wtih -mod=beta, you can simply copy it to you desktop if you want. Did the rest really start the exe from the beta folder?
maddogx 13 Posted September 3, 2009 (edited) Did the rest really start the exe from the beta folder? Some people did, as evidenced by the occasional reports of the beta not starting due to missing data errors. Can't really blame them, as the people who never used the betas in Arma1 are probably not used to the way the betas are installed and how they work. In that regard, I agree with Gonk. Having the beta patch place a link on the desktop named "Arma2 BETA" will go a long way to make sure everyone's on the same page. whisper 0 Posted September 3, 2009 Sadly I have to agree... I had the discussion before with suma before (talking about mouse being a differential input device) but I still cant believe this is the best they can do. The people with mouse lag issues were crying over "remove smoothing" for months now. They did it. As simple as that
Radnik 18 Posted September 3, 2009 Beta 1.03..58946 Better LOD switching (rearly noticeable), no texture loading bug, better performace and dunno if u've done something with vehicles but they do respond better and driving feels better! :D Keep it up BIS!
