Does it mean no equipement clanking sound while runing for west troops? I just love this sound, it is so immersive. I hope I misunderstood You.

s = sound files container

both are needed.

split to make updating easier.

That's why the op split their mod in sections so you can pick how many of the default sounds are changed. If you want the original walking sound just don't put that folder ("Footsteps and Gear Sounds") in with the mod.

I THINK the fixed config by kju, which is added in the latest update (see a few posts back), is changing only sounds.

Fixed Config and signed with version 2.0 key (Date modified: 07.06.2009).

Server Admins who downloaded the new key yesterday need to roll back, the key is included.

No, you need to download the fixed pack (about 20kb size) and overwrite existing files.

When I downloaded the latest update, there were tons of duplicate files, because you had renamed them with some capital letters, which prevented them from overwriting the existing ones. So I just cleared out all of the addons and copied over the updated versions, but that results in no sound :P

**EDIT**

Okay scratch that I got it working now. There's one sound I have a real beef with though. Sometimes when I shoot a building or a tank I get this big "ping" or "boink" kind of sound. It's completely out of place and extremely annoying.

Forgot to mention that you need to delete the old bisign files as they had another filename. Then simply copy the update over your existing folder. The config container will be overwritten and the new bisign files added.

Is it possible that the explosion sounds are very very flat in the new version?

First they are very silent, even when something explodes right beside me

and then the just seem... without character....

Is it just me?

Am I doing something wrong?

I played a litte with my sound options, but neither arma-changes nor changes in my soundsystem change anything.

edit: same with other sounds in this category.

Impacts, breaking-down houses and so on

The fixed server key doesn't work with 2.1 right? Just 2.0. Just making sure I read it correctly.

You're right, Hiramas. The explosion sounds are so weak and short. No echo and no "UUUMPFF" just a bang...to me, a plane crashing down sounds like a flashbang. I use the original explosion sounds.

Yeah the explosions sound like muted thunder, not an explosion.

One more thing I have an issue with is that it's suggested to use several other sound mods in conjunction with this one (first post). The problem is, with those armor sounds being used, they overpower the weapon sounds even when you fire your own (which should be loudest, no matter how close that tank is). So I just need to disable those tank sounds. It's a pitty, because they're far superior to the normal sounds =\

Okay so i changed the desktop to F:\Steam\steam.exe -applaunch 33900 -mod=@VopSound_2.1

It doesn't work with i open the game up in steam in minimized mode. How can i fix this

Wow, that was fast, already a sound mod for ArmA2. I can't even figure out how to mod my own sounds onto ArmA2, unless it's the same as ArmA1. I tried this in the ArmA2 Demo and I kept getting an error "corrupted files detected" and ArmA2 Demo would close, so I figured ArmA2 full retail would do that also. Hmmm, VOP had made an excellent sound mod for ArmA1 so this is should be promising.

Well once Mark releases a Modular system like with ArmA1 , i think we will be going hand in hand (not literally holding hands ok) or I will be contributing to it I have many new sounds for explosions for ArmA2 that I can't wait to try out heh.

And of course we could just leave the Explosion part out.

But we are nice guys and we want to give our opinion so the mod gets even better than it is by now :)

edit: Noticed that the rocket sounds are quite quiet, too.

When you shoot a hydra or a maverick it is hardly recognizeable.

On the other Hand i love the GBU-12 sounds (first the "beep" in the plane and then the "wheeeeeeee" when they are falling)

Don't know how loud a rocket should be when you fire it, but an explosion should shake your headphones.

Sorry for the offtopic, but I wouldn't want Chammy to give up just for this.

The demo just does not allow it's content to be altered. Only the full game is modable.

hi there i just got the vop sounds and i put all the files in the addons folder but when i make a map anda ask my friend to join it says something like he cannot play/edit this mission or somthing... wonder if you guys could help me thanks in advance.

I'm having sounds troubles using vop 2.1, I can't hear the A10 blast on the ground. Just like rockets and heavy explosions its seems its too much sounds at a time, don't know how to explain but the game tries to run them I can hear parts of them but not all.

I have a new computer so i don't think its a hardware trouble !

I love your mod so much, i hope it can be fixed.

PS : You say there is no gameplay change, but i think i've noticed the fire rate of the GAU-8 have been greatly increased havent it ?

No, it was just a hint for those who downloaded the both "nonworking" updates with the new Serverkey in it. So they could roll back just in case they did not back up. The key is fully working with both versions.

Didn't touch the GAU firerate in this version. But in the previous one.

Anyway I'm recommending trying marks HiFi A10 with the Vops config.

As for the GAU impacts, yes, seems like the same odd problem exists again which occured in ArmA1 as well. Hoping for a sound engine update.
