Would it be possible to make any of the settings configurable? One thing that is really disappointing right now is that the visually fantastic spark effects have a very very small viewable radius. I'd like to have those effects be visible from at least 400m out. don't really have any complaints otherwise. Great work!

If that's what ArmA2 was "really about", there wouldn't be a single player option. I buy games for the campaign, first and foremost. Everything else is icing. So to me, that is the most important feature. -

As expected, ArmA2 gets high marks. An 8.0 and well deserved for the aspects that work. They do however, complain about bugs. Lots of bugs. Two of their worst points are: - Buggy campaign is almost unbeatable - AI drivers should have their licenses revoked But they go into more description: "Arma II's single-player experience would be spectacular, if not for all the bugs, which are, sadly, too numerous to list." I completely agree with this statement. That game would be amazing, if I could actually finish it. "You'll often spend hours completing an objective, only to find that the game won't acknowledge your accomplishment, forcing you to revert to an earlier saved game and try again. If you try to keep playing after one of these incidents, other bugs can manifest." Yep, this is how it ends for me every time. "The most annoying sounds of all are the extremely loud, unsynchronized, overlapping Russian radio broadcasts you'll hear near the Russian border, which produce an unbearable cacophony of gibberish" What's the deal with that audio, anyways? Hah. I thought my soundcard was messed up when I started hearing that. Here's the link: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/armaii/review.html?tag=tabs;reviews Overall I'd say Gamespot nailed it. ArmA2 is a great game, even with as much bitching as I've done about it. My only real complaint is that I can't finish the campaign. Sure there's online, but I buy games first and foremost for the single player or co-op campaign. So I feel I'm entitled to some bitter feelings. :) -
GMJ Sight Adjustment for ArmA2

This site adjustment function is yet another thing that should have been in ArmA from the beginning.. :( Thanks for the hard work, python! -
Was the campain even bug tested?

Lol :) It wasn't perfect, I agree. But I could at least complete the campaign without anything going wrong. I can't complete the campaign in ArmA2 at all. Every time I try there's a bug that makes me revert it. :'( -

OFP was amazing. Graphics were decent for the time, very open ended and no show-stopping bugs. Ahh, the good 'ole days... -

I didn't once say the games I've worked on were flawless, so pay attention. But not a single game I've worked on has had game-stopping bugs like ArmA 2 does. I CANNOT finish the ArmA 2 campaign, period. As I said, I've tried, fifteen times and it fails every single time. Sp sorry to break it to you Manzilla, but it's not drama, it's fact. I will say though, that the online component of ArmA seems fine. I don't have any issues with it, but that's also likely because there's no AI... You can't use an open-ended landscape as an excuse for allowing bugs to slip by. Every other open-ended game I've played has never had bugs so severe that you could not complete them. - Battleground Europe - Eve Online - Fallout 3 - Fable 2 - Grand Theft Auto 4 - Assassins Creed - Infamous Hell, even the original Operation Flashpoint & expansions. These are all HUGE "sandbox" games, where you can do what you want, how you want, where you want. Open expanses of terrain that you're free to explore. You know what? Not a single one of them had bugs that kept you from completing the game (or progressing, as in the case of MMO's). Arguing that some of the titles are console games also has no merit, so please don't try. The errors we're getting in ArmA are fundamental in nature. Core issues that have no relevance to PC hardware whatsoever. Scripting errors, physics errors, etc - they all stem from the engine itself and the developers scripting/coding them. The fact that I said we could sue the publisher is very true, but it's not something I'd do. More of an anger statement. In the U.S we have something called the Better Business Bureau. Their responsibility is to ensure consumers don't get screwed over. They make sure businesses operate in an ethical, trustworthy manner, so buyers get what they are promised. In the case of ArmA2, we're promised a full campaign. Since it doesn't work and the developer/publisher have given us no feedback on it's status, you could technically sue them or at the very least, have the BBB order a mandate for them to fix the target issues by a certain date. But like I said, that's a low blow. Not something I'd actually do. Although it's grossly disproportionate money-wise, the car example sums it up nicely. Say you bought a new car and it seemed to work for a day or so. Then it stopped driving for some reason. You call the dealership, but no one picks up. You leave messages but get no replies. "What the hell?". Oh wait, the car still drives in reverse and the stereo works great, so that should be good enough, right? The dealership shouldn't have to explain things to me, or fix the issue quickly, is that it? Fact is, we've paid for something that a large portion of us simply cannot use. If BIS would make a public statement about what the hell is going on, it would ease most of the tempers and angst in this forum. There's a lot of pissed of people here, myself included, that want to be ensured that these issues are being worked on, above all else. -

I call bullshit. I've been a game developer for 10yrs. ArmA2 should not have shipped with the campaign in this condition. It's literally unplayable. You MIGHT be lucky once or twice and make it through. But I've restarted the entire campaign 15 times since I bought it and EVERY SINGLE TIME I get stuck from an AI or script bug. I don't care what kind of hardware they're using, the campaign should have been tested for 2-3 months, over and over and over, on varying hardware. Stop making excuses for BIS. These problems are so severe and so widespread, only a fool would think they didn't know about them before release. Technically, since the game doesn't live up to it's sales promises (you know, like FINISHING THE GAME), we could file a class-action lawsuit against the Publisher, 505 Games. -

Well that's poor management and the indicator of an amateur studio. Not sure what happened to BIS, as I don't recall OFP being 1/2 this buggy. It's a crying shame because most things about ArmA2 I love. I just can't play anything related to the campaign. -
Yeah the explosions sound like muted thunder, not an explosion. One more thing I have an issue with is that it's suggested to use several other sound mods in conjunction with this one (first post). The problem is, with those armor sounds being used, they overpower the weapon sounds even when you fire your own (which should be loudest, no matter how close that tank is). So I just need to disable those tank sounds. It's a pitty, because they're far superior to the normal sounds =\
-
When I downloaded the latest update, there were tons of duplicate files, because you had renamed them with some capital letters, which prevented them from overwriting the existing ones. So I just cleared out all of the addons and copied over the updated versions, but that results in no sound :P **EDIT** Okay scratch that I got it working now. There's one sound I have a real beef with though. Sometimes when I shoot a building or a tank I get this big "ping" or "boink" kind of sound. It's completely out of place and extremely annoying.

Is this latest update fixed in the Armaholic download link?

Lol perfect description. For a "simulation" kind of game, the physics are laughable. Still a nice job on the car though, I'll give it a shot sometime :)
