Who should I ask to change my profile name.

It's a minor aesthetic change, but after all these years I actually would like my nickname to be written correctly.

I would like some letters to be uppercase so my nickname looks like this:

Probably one for Max, but I'll field it here: Are we going to see a 'WIP', 'Stuff you're working on', 'developers workshop' thread in A3, or is it a case of waiting for the official 'new' tools/agreeing the format of any new thread (trying to skirt around previous discussons about the old thread :o )

The issues with the old vs. new style wip / upcoming addon thread are still on the radar but there are some other changes happening too that require a lot of attention. The wip / upcoming addon threads were tools independent so there's no tool based reason why there is no thread like that right now.

As has just been pointed out to me, the description under ARMA 3 - ALPHA ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION says This forum is for discussing addons or mods that are currently work in progress, as well as for discussing ideas or requests for addons. It seems to me that given this there is little reason to expect people to use the ArmA 3 Addon Request Thread.

Looking at the history of the forum, it doesn't seem like there is much of a problem with users posting out of the Addon Request Thread- certainly less than the early Arma 2 days. The importance of that is the discussion must be about addons in progress, or about requests. Ie. not about hypothetical addons, or other topics. I think your point is well made, though, so we'll see what SniperWolf thinks about it.

That was just a general info handed out because we had countless suspicious "search key" posts recently. As far as i can tell, the integrity of your account is intact.

Is the pictures over 100kb rule still standing? Now that the forums resize pictures anyway is there any need for it?

Also I noticed there is a ten picture rule per post, when I go to add the tenth picture to a post it says I have 11 pictures and can't post over the ten cap. I checked and I only have 9 pictures present.

The rule still stands.

One thing to note is the forum software re-dimensions them, but does not resize them. I have software that highlights images over the forum limit and it is still tripped by images that are made smaller by the forum software. When I then confirm the image size, it is over the 100kb limit... if nothing has changed in the past short while.

One way to make sure is to right click on the resized image and to check its size.

The current behavior of the forum is that it will automatically turn the images into links if they exceed 100Kb (which is what mods will do anyway if the picture is over 100Kb), but this can not be relied upon.

The other resize you mention is just "visual" scaling, as Max mentions, it makes the image smaller in width and height, but it's still the same image with the same Kb "weight". This is done so that overly large pictures do not break the forum layout and needlessly take up and inconsiderate amount of space.

The 9/10 images thing might be due to the image in the signature (as I believe it's counted as a part of the post). Try turning off the signature for a post that you want to have 10 images for, see if it helps.

I have a question for a mod, why is it that unlike any other forum Ive ever been on I can't edit anything about my profile such as avatar? When I try to edit it, I get the message about trying to edit something I do not own or I am not activated (when I am).

What gives? That is generally the FIRST thing I do when making an account on a forum.

After a few posts, you'll get the option to make a signature, avatar etc. It's to stop spambots from spreading inappropriate images :)

Thanks for your understanding :) Yeah if there wouldn't be such measures, it would look very messy... :D Though there hasn't been any spam visible in about two years so things are working out quite nicely and mods etc are doing good work on that

Can new users get a big red bar telling them the limitations of a new account? While i support the current rules and generally like how this forum is moderated i do understand that new users are not willing to read 5 pages of rules on a forum they just joined. :)

As Dwarden indicated, they pretty much have just that. If they don't read the text right above the button that says, "I agree", I'm afraid there's nothing more we can do.

Well, you did, but the measures were different. They were premoderation and the moderators had to go through each new post/username/sig to determine whether or not contained spam. Spam hunting was actually quite an involved process and required actually quite a chunk of time. When I was first accepted as a moderator, the spam situation was actually accelerating quite rapidly.

The premoderation now in combination with the boarding process keeps out seemingly all spambots and most spammers.... most but not all.

I have personally removed porn from the forum on several occasions.
