I still say that ArmA2 beats ArmA in many aspects. Just the inclusion of a real view mirror is just..outstanding!

Suma said once in the Sahrani-Radio Interview, that he can not understand why the community didn't liked the stock Arma Sounds and rather liked one of the, at this point appearing, soundmods (i guess it was Frommz).

A few sentences earlier (or later) he said that he even doesn't play games like Arma at all/don't like them anymore and want to develop/try-out something else.

That is definitely not what I heard when I listened to the interview huh.gif

You're really twisting his words around.

He's not the BIS sound guy anyway icon_rolleyes.gif

But anyway I also hope to see improvements to the sound, not just the sounds themselves but the sound system.

What mr.g-c posted was pretty much how i recal it. Suma did say that there not focusing on better sounds because he said and i quote "If a weapon sounds like a weapon it doesn't have to be perfect", he also said he's only interested in the island construction, he's not realy into the military games. I found this odd and my conclusion was that there just milking Flashpoint for what they can get. ArmA is a perfect example of this. A game released just to get them some cash to carry on with the next project.

For all of you who have rose coloured glasses, BIS is a bit like EA, only on a much smaller scale. They slightly update there games and call it new. It's only because the community want more that were willing to buy them like lemmings. Yes BIS keep patching there games, but they have to, there bugged to hell and they need to keep the community sweet or else they will be out of a job.

That rant went on longer than i intended but reading some of these love posts makes me wanna go  banghead.gif

i would say they haven't done enought, but i wouldnt say they "slightly" improve their engine

making it sounds like you know so well, maybe you know something that we dont know?

As far as I can see there were several offenders here, how come only the one you disagree with is punished?

Bah, not my fight anyway but still embarrassing on behalf of the BI forum moderation stand.

As far as I can see both were punished. Check again and you'll see that DM has a 48h PR which is fair enough for his outburst.

mr.g-c has been banned for other reasons, not only for his crap here.

Is it possible that we continue on topic here in a civil way, without insults and stuff? Thank you. smile_o.gif

My thoughts after looking at the videos and news:

The AI stuff looks good so far, at last we get sane AI .. that can be depended upon to get somewhere and follow us in a proper convoy of vehicles too? Hope so

The graphics on that 'mid-class' machine seemed to be flaky at times, many flickering textures, and several buildings just popping in and out of view... reloading?? ArmA1 works better than that so this worries me a bit...

The High Commander interface looks great - information lacking from the video: I saw 2 screens in action - were they running from the same PC and from the same ArmA2 instance?

Does that mean we'll be able to have the map and command interfaces on screen 2 while playing first-person / overview / satellite view on screen 1??

Is there any scope to overlay the command system onto the actual in-game view so that icons and waypoints be visible without the map, on-screen, while playing?

mmm btw will the binoculars have a zoom function? Sort of like irl where you can adjust the clearity / zoom on the binoculars. smile_o.gif

Could be configed same way like the Mark 12 spr sniper in Arma 1 maybe. smile_o.gif

I think the second screen that you see is a different game going on. I actually believe it is just a cutscene possibly something like the Main Menu background video. Im not sure its just thats what I thought it was.

Seems like you hate ArmA with passion lol. I wouldnt be here if i had so much against it. No point.

Anyway, nice friggin artwork! Tom Webers stuff are top notch. Will definatelly make the boxes stand out on the shelves. Good work. smile_o.gif

I wish i understood what he was saying because there are many things that were happening on the screen that needed an explanation for example that civilian that disappeared, or when he was talking about the view distance among other things.

AI looks pretty good from 3:20 to 4:40. I like the way they can now walk sideways and backwards and don't spin in place quite so much. :-) Also at around 3:55 you can see one of the squad in the churchground - hard to say for sure but by around 4:20 he seems to have made his way out of the side gate and back to his friends.

From that video and some other i saw but cant remember wich, it looks like the SVD scope still looks bad. Those thin lines that are very "jagged" in the curves. it doesnt have smooth lines so to say. Hopefully it will be taken care of.

EDIT: Looking at when he changes view distance when flying they should really add the option of dynamic view distance. The one Myke has made for ArmA works so good. I cant play with 8000 meters on the ground but when im flying up and it succesively expands, i get no lag. So it really works super. Would really be a hot option for ArmA2.

Overall I thought that was a good demo. I liked how the AI reacted to things and didn't spin in circles. Good job BI!!!

some stuff:

- there will be (in/from campaign?huh.gif) missions playable like coop and as the russians/ insurgents

- enemies in the village have shot down the -some helicopter- and it wasnt scripted and last time he was showing it the -some helicopter- was circling around and shooting

- the game isnt all about killing/survival and the enemies can surrender/retreat

- there will be generated civilians/vehicles if they allow it

(it wasnt clear)

- surrendered soldiers will drop their weapons but its WIP

- the last mission can take 5 hours to complete and will be made like MP mission (CTsmt)

- templates will be better

btw. it was only first part, the other isnt there yet

I don't know looks liked it crashed into the tree to me. Then again maybe we're talking about a different helicopter seeing as how the one im talking about is the Mi-17 or Mi-8 Hip not hind.

the Mi-17 did hit the trees and crash

the only difference is, did it hit the tree and blowup right away, or did it hit the trees, knock them down, fall on to the ground, then blow up

doesnt looks like the 2nd one to me, clearly not something that happen in real life, heck, even if they just knock the trees down, lost control, hard landing, then kamboom would looks 10 times better then this one crazy_o.gif

also the physics doesnt seems to be improved confused_o.gif

its sad that the ai still cant handle the chopper properly

in fact the only thing that hold is the ground troops AI
