leckig 0 Posted June 20, 2007 the last patch really made it very good! fun to play and most people playing online are awesome, team players helping each other. Very good experience and no crashes at all. I am far far away from saying it is perfect, but it is very good for sure and I can honestly recomend it.
Sc@tterbrain 0 Posted June 21, 2007 Arma is AWSOME...potentially. What would really be "awsome" is if there was somewhere I could put my name on a list to be e-mailed once the kinks are worked out. This would save you from my "whining" and save me from wasted time looking at the forums trying to keep up with the flow of 99% useless babble such as this thread. DaRat 0 Posted June 21, 2007 Just had the most awesome experience in ArmA Was on the pita airfield with the GIG Scudlauncher, and decided to fire it at Estrella and go down and have a look at the damage after it had gone off. So I waited a bit.. Thought it was enough, and teleported down there (Mr. Editor Guy addon ) "Not much damage for a nuke.." I thought. Then I heard the engine. Really one of those "OH SH**" moments I dived for the nearest house and laid down in the corridor in the middle of the building and prayed. The explosion was absolutley deafening! I waited for a bit and came out - everything was gone except a handful of buildings, including my own. ArmA continues to amaze me
MistaCreepy 0 Posted June 21, 2007 Arma is the online experience Ive been searching for... the teamwork and cooperation, the long open ended games which value transport just as much as combat, good AI (maybe too good... they could hit a quarter from a mile away)... ill never forget the first time a squad of guys were transported by helo to a city, parachuted out and took the objectives while covering each other and moving in fireteams... it was bliss. sniper pilot 36 Posted June 22, 2007 Playing on Dslyecxi's server with the 80+ biplanes shooting at each other was a blast, No lag at all, you tell me what other game can do that on that scale with that detail!

BraTTy 0 Posted June 22, 2007 IL2 tho, when you press eject. Your game is done I love Arma , it has me chatting with people from all over the world To help the upset: You know why software is actually returnable...for many years publishers and developers understand it may not work on every computer ( i remember when returns were started,if it didn't work bring it back) I bought Arma immediately, but if you had read reviews most said there were some bugs You think a software company today can keep up with equiptment coming out in a year? Buy Vistas SDK or whatever is needed at some crazy expense from MS before Vista is out? Vista compiler? Quad core cpu and video changes etc.. (i am babbling now, not sure how the development works all) Comparing to other games. I paid 80$ for BF2 and Special Forces addon. Arma is twice the game and worth way more

walker 0 Posted June 23, 2007 Hi all With 1.08 ArmA seems to be just about right, there was the securom bug that took them a week to finish but all is well now. I played on the same berzerk server two days one continuous battle. The battle had been going on so long that most of the buildings were destroyed around the Airfield we were fighting over the rubble. The Javelin launcher I had left the day before was still there. I do not know another FPS game where the servers have that degree of stability. I can see some totally new game concepts coming out of this. Especially for clan wars. CoC might be giving the community some new toys soon  Kind Regards walker
Danbri 0 Posted June 23, 2007 Jihaa... i just manage to play through a SP mission (destroying the armored targets at night) and almost no grapichal problems. The most satisf...(cant spell that) the best part, is that I felt like it was as good a mission as I remember in OFP.

Scrub 0 Posted June 23, 2007 Great news on the CoC! Was just playing some ambushes in the editor. The forest from IB48 to IG52 is VERY well set up and beautiful. Â Had enemy AI crawling under the pine trees where I could not see them when I was standing up, firing away at me, got up and ran for my life many times (tried to run past my teammates to pick off any followers, worked more than not) Â Â Very accurate fire, but not to the point of 'aimbots' - they still missed. Â Amazing!
Mad Dog 7.62 0 Posted June 25, 2007 Wow, only 8 pages of "awesome" vs. 33 pages of "disappointing"!! I guess I will add my .02 cents worth under awesome. Well, it may not be quite awesome (although the potential is there with some work). I am having a lot of fun with it, though. While there is certain wierdness at times in the AI, no game has ever gotten that right yet. I am happy with the graphics, but I am playing on a pretty high end system. I had just gotten a new comp before getting ArmA, a quad-core Q6600 with 4 MB ram, 640 MB 8800 GTS, and 1 TB Raid 0 drives. I made sure the drivers for the video and sound are the latest ones, and installed the 1.08 patch. So far really good frame rates with no bad slowdowns and very few other problems. Messing with the editor is lots of fun, and there are some really cool add-ons for this game with more coming, I hope. The perfect game? No, but a very good game and lots of fun!! I think in a year or so when its been tweaked and modded some more, it could be an awesome game! MD
maddogx 13 Posted June 25, 2007 Wow, only 8 pages of "awesome" vs. 33 pages of "disappointing"!! Hi Mad Dog. ( ) The 8v33 pages is largely due to the heated discussions in the "...disappointing" thread, and also due to the fact that people who are unhappy with the game are more likely to write about it than those who don't have any problems - because they are too busy enjoying their game. I wouldn't interpret those numbers as a quality measure for ArmA. Back on topic: I had another "Experience of true ArmA awesomness!" (TM pending) yesterday while playing "Blood Sweat & Tears" for the first time. It just rocked. We need more missions like that.
4 IN 1 0 Posted June 25, 2007 have a 3 hours bombing mission last night, aside from the noob act of someone(keep waste bullet on an uh60) and god for sakes TK base rapers(which i kick them out once i get admin control), all things when well, yes A10 didnt have too decent FM but it give the enemy a lots of punch which it should be like, flying an AV-8b with someone willing to laze the target would do a lot of damage to enemy, flying chopper is still somewhat enjoyable in the game, and sitting at side sits of a Mh-6 watching other choppers flying along side in decent formation is an awesome view, and thx to the high VD it didnt gives me the odd feeling that BF games have i wonder how many games could do such kind of things
walker 0 Posted June 25, 2007 Hi all I had great ArmA moment yesterday. I was playing Berzerk Airfield we were loosing badly. We had just retaken the Radio station. And as normal the other side started pounding it with everything they had MGs, Artillery, Tank HE helicopter gun ships and a harrier with GBUs. The Harrier was the worst I saw two of his bomb runs and managed to get to cover. Watching those bombs come in is real scary. I was down among some rocks but I saw the pilot do a recce pass then heard the harrier pull hard round then the sound disappeared behind the mountain. From the reaction I was sure I had been spotted. I new there was only one attack run possible on my location. A hard very narrow notch between the rocks with an approach up from the sea along the bottom of the runway. Imagine my shock when I heard the aircraft out to sea then turn in toward me. Suddenly I see it the harrier is lining up for a perfect attack run I am about to get a GBU down the throat. No where to run too the hill above me is too steep and anyway being blasted by tank and MG fire the rocks below me prevent my climbing down. No where to hide, I cannot get behind the the other side of the rocks in time and anyway the other side is covered by a pair of snipers. My goose is well and truly cooked. I gulp, then their attack helicopter swings in to make his run as well OH! Sh*t! but the copter swerves in front of the harrier and both have to abort I swear I could see them grinding their teeth in the cockpit Kind regards walker
Second 0 Posted June 25, 2007 @Walker: That ending part was great. One of my dazzeling moments was when i played one of my missions where awful amount of artillery was used. Mission lasted about 30-40 minutes and there was no still moments, firefights and artybarrages from start to end. I had lied down and shot only couple enemies in that whole time. No space to move, as i had only small fortification shared with my AI pair, and not wise to stand as enemy pounded us again-and-again with artillery because attack was stucked (suppression scripts were used so the AI didn't have that much desire to commit suicide). I issued about 4000 arty shells for both sides (self made mission) and they used them complitely during mission + uncounted amount of bullets. Battle was nothing but *KA-BOOM*-*KA-BOOM*-*KA-BOOM*-*KA-BOOM*-...couple seconds brake and then again...*KA-BOOM*-*KA-BOOM*-*KA-BOOM*-*KA-BOOM*- With gunshot-sounds as backround. When gun sounds faded and enemy attack was halted to second line of defence (i was part of first), the feeling was just... weird. Can't describe it better. I was just looking at monitor, exited ArmA, shut down computer... I heard impact sound in my mind (a stressful sound indeed). This moment was defindely my highlight moments with ArmA, it just hit me speechless. Things like joy or happiness wasn't involved, just idea of: "Damn... i made it." Balschoiw 0 Posted June 25, 2007 Working on a mission, part of the Exodus campaign, I was driving as passenger with a long convoi of vehicles that are transported to an island to evacuate from there. I get dropped of at a crossroads commandpost, meet my old comrade and a civillian with a jeep comes in jelling about incoming US tanks. So much for the planned thing. I team up with the prone guys who are awaiting the US forces hear lots of tank rambling while the convoi I was just riding with starts to crossing the bridge. The tanks get close, first run into minefield, my men jump up, engage, machineguns blast, mines detonate, tanks fire, anti tank guns shoot from 3 km´s away and rip some tanks and all of a sudden I hear large bangs and booms from behind where the convoi was crossing the bridge (at all times flawless I have to add). 2 Abrams picked the targets on the bridge and there were already 2 burning trucks on the bridge, when they hit a fuel truck a big part of the bridge collapsed. I was like "what the f*** !!" Incredible ! The bridge collapsed in parts, an ambulance BMP slipped over the remains and dived into the sea, where happy vodka Ivan decided to just swim on. Meanwhile the anti tank guns kept firing at the attackers and literally smashed some m113´s. Next thing I had seen (while desperately trying to pop up, shoot some incoming infantry and ducking again) was a Stryker sending some gifts to the anti tank guns and when I hear distant explosions I knew that the unit is toast. It moved on and ran into another mine. Totally crazy. Attack wave consist of about 90 infantry, 16 tanks and my team is about 30 guys and a minefield and 2 anti-tank guns ranged 3km´s from my position with forward observer. Arma is awesome. The moment the bridge collapsed I had my jaw drop to the floor. This was definately not planned that way, but I´ll keep it as it looks so damn amazing. max power 21 Posted June 26, 2007 Wow, only 8 pages of "awesome" vs. 33 pages of "disappointing"!! It's easy to gibber on and on about how things aren't right. When things are right, they just are, and it's almost superfluous to talk about it. It's just human nature.
colligpip 0 Posted June 26, 2007 Here are some excerpts form another thread about the mission RTS4 probably the best mp mission for arma. I had a brilliant game of this last night set up a huge armoured column that headed north, a mixture of AA and tanks nothing could stop me. I moved slowly with AA troops and shikas protecting my tanks and manged to squeeze the opfor right up to their base. The good thing was they found it hard to send over scout choppers to knock out my flags as they were getting mashed up as they flew over my convoy. Anybody else got any good tactics for this brilliant mission..... there was a spectacular bit when i was closing on there base when they must have sent out about 10 repair/ammo trucks at once that came face to face with my tanks BOOM the sky was black with smoke.... when it gets going easily the best MP mission for arma. was a really full server 50 odd players the game was lasting ages there was a real proper feeling of being in a war with a front line that stretched from ortgo to parsio airbase. There wasa massive scrap for ortego but i had to leave i was jsut wondering if anybody looking at this was playing and could tell me who won the end of this titanic battle. I tired to take ortego at one point through those small trees to the west but came point blank with another squad of m1s and was torn to shreds. After this the battle went fluid with hmmves streaming past our front lines and geting torn up by our tanks but we couldnt take ortego as they had at tank squads taking out our armour as we tried to move in. brilliant game thanks mission maker karrilion and BI for this epic game.
