sabre 244 Posted October 24, 2008 Definitely release that one Opteryx something about it looks aussie to me in parts, apart from the trees of course. but yeh release it, it looks great.
alpha125rbf 0 Posted October 24, 2008 For me ArmA has a massive island problem! I can't enjoy Sahrani - because I have about 24 FPS in the bigger citys and the bots are hell of dumb there. But citys are the islands key points - and there are only about 4 - 7 villiges.
Daniel 0 Posted October 25, 2008 The cities in ArmA are more like small towns anyway. The rest are all villages. Opteryx, that landscape looks pretty amazing, especially little spots like these. http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee219/Opteryx_album/2-8.jpg http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee219/Opteryx_album/4-2.jpg Please do release. It even has a little airstrip, this would be great for daytime combined arms battles.
icebreakr 3159 Posted October 25, 2008 Opteryx: love it... excellent place for a runway, hopefully there will be room for tower and hangars, guarded entrance ?

max power 21 Posted November 4, 2008 Damn, those stationary pose anims are the worst thing to happen to the photography thread. Everyone using every pose in every picture just totally destroys the impact of those poses... now they are like some kind of in-joke.

Maddmatt 1 Posted November 4, 2008 Damn, those stationary pose anims are the worst thing to happen to the photography thread. Â Everyone using every pose in every picture just totally destroys the impact of those poses... now they are like some kind of in-joke. Agreed. They are repetitive. It's cool to use them a few times, but it's overdone. For combat scenes you can just tell that the picture isn't 'natural', you never see combat scenes look like that while playing
sparks50 0 Posted November 4, 2008 Plaintiff, I agree, some pictures can be a bit overloaded sometimes. Its sort of like Napoleon paintings, where all the soldiers are crammed together in the battle for the painter to fit em all on the small canvas
TankCommander 3 Posted November 4, 2008 Plaintiff I also agree but then again when using the static poses in moderation it's a good thing. You need to strike a balance with it and not over excite the scene with everyone pointing out in random directions and taking evasive actions like commando rolls and super human side steps. You need to strike a balance with it and not over excite the scene with everyone pointing out in random directions and taking evasive actions like commando rolls and super human side steps. That was exactly my point.. also that oversaturation of those poses over everyone's pictures is that it turns something that's cool into something that's banal and cliche. Besides, there's a lot more you can do to get nuance in these photos. There was one pic I can't seemingly find anymore of a sharpshooter with an AWP and some soldier.. I think it was promoting a weapon pack. Anyways, the pic was well staged but the more interesting thing was that it looked like the sniper was tearing a strip off the other guy... like he looked pissed and the other guy looked like he was wincing. It was awesome. Pics like that that seem to tell a story, however short, ambiguous, and accidental will always be better than heavily staged, illogical scenes cluttered with an image that's been repeated 100 times since 6am that morning. raedor 8 Posted November 5, 2008 Okay, removed the quote bubble Good idea... ... but also don't re-post pics from the CP thread here. CP for pics, this one for comments. (And I advise you to be not too smart now.)
sparks50 0 Posted November 5, 2008 Its ok, I just want people to know what I am commenting on since the threads are separate.
raedor 8 Posted November 5, 2008 Its ok, I just want people to know what I am commenting on since the threads are separate. If you want to do this here, quote the pic but change the img tags with url tags. Otherwise we just could allow comments in the CP thread as this thread would turn out as a "CP with comments" thread anyway...
