Randy 0 Posted April 28, 2006 The ironsights look worse than they did in OFP, the actual gun model's ironsight's should be used. This is the most effective method as proven by Deer Hunter 5 and Smod for Half-Life 2. It also appears that the view has been locked to the crosshair as numerous people have mentioned. Yes it is an old video, but why would they add these things that degrade the game, if OFP already had a superior solution? I'm hoping they're just trying these things on and have discarded them many months ago.

Lupus-WD- 0 Posted April 28, 2006 this other "CZtvMovie.wmv" video shows footage that look more recent and the crosshair on some sequences where it's visible isn't locked... just for information. Now it's always a zoomed in capture of a portion of the screen and it's hard to realize if the amplitude of movement is still as large as it was in ofp (i had the feeling it was not). FatNinjaKid 0 Posted April 28, 2006 I am afraid ARMA is not really going to be that great. It is going to be a nice game and all, but judging from the vid all the things which annoyed me about OFP are still going to be there. Sorry, but seeing that bot running past the player in that vid was just pathetic. I wonder why I should even buy that game if I can have basically for free (FFUR). I am not going to pay €50 for some new textures and sounds. Don't get me wrong, I hope Arma is going to be great and I wish BIS all the best, but how realistic is that? ade_mcc 0 Posted April 28, 2006 FFUR using your example is OFP pushed to its absolute limit due to engine limitations. With the improved engine in AA (for example enhanced scripting capabilities) that cannot be demonstrated with screenshots alone just imagine what mod makers will be able to achieve. To clarify: OFP------------------->FFUR/AA-------------------> ? ? ? I'd make it look pretty with colours and everything! but I cant be arsed.
jakerod 254 Posted April 28, 2006 Not to mention the Optimized Engine. Streaming Terrain. Waves. Better Graphics. (If you didn't look at the blog today check it out: http://www.armedassault.com/william/ ) The terrain itself looks a lot better. Forests are individual trees now. Destructable objects (ex. Bridge) New Campaign New SP Missions New Island New Objects

As much as possible while it's still fun to play.Yeah, that AI scared me, and you'll se that a few times if you'll stay with OFPR. So stop judging a game by seeing months old footages of it. And it's rather pathetic that you say ArmA is a texture and sound update, I bet you read the press release. When E3 comes, you will see how great game it is. berghoff 11 Posted April 28, 2006 I am afraid ARMA is not really going to be that great../quote]FFUR is nice I'll tell you but the performance/stability cannot be compared to ArmA. OFP is getting so old now even the new system s can barely run OFP with FFUR at decent speeds in heavy combat. Quote[/b] ]Not to mention the Optimized Engine.Streaming Terrain. Waves. GBee 0 Posted April 28, 2006 Thanks Redface. The term sounded familiar but I'm not sure where I might have heard it before. There is a bug in http://www.armedassault.com/william/photos/base/04.jpg Note the rotor blades. Each one appears to occupy two positions.
EddyBoy 0 Posted April 28, 2006 I would think that the rotors had just started and its a transition thing between the stattic rotors and the moving rotor texture. Sure it looks alright in video.
jakerod 254 Posted April 28, 2006 Good catch there. You're right it has six: http://www.armedassault.com/william/photos/base/05.jpg
Comradesniper 0 Posted April 28, 2006 It could be that one of the guys there just got out of it while the engines were still on, and now it's just slowing the rotors.
