USA Politics Thread - *No gun debate*

Recommended Posts

my friend was in NY before Guliani became in power there

so maybe Guliani changed it, so you say that movies with Charles Bronson are bullshit ?? or true for 80s in NY for example ?

of course we have such lads/chavs too, but maybe 1% of them has access to gun and it makes difference to what i saw in TV about Oakland

for sure we had problems in 90s as "freedom" came to us, yes, there were battles metalheads vs. lads/chavs

but noone of us had gun, noone was killed etc.

and for sure they were afraid of Police etc.

but even touristic info about Oakland shows the same :/

you have in US problem of "too much freedom" , which problem you spread to other countries,

like my neighbor said (over-commisar of Police, equal major degree) "in socialism when man took knife in hands we all were under alert"

believe me or not, even my dangerous "Praga" district (i live in most dangerous district in PL, i have grown here, i know such guys and hate them for what they do to others) was much safer then during night like now during day

but even "praga north" has not seen 1% of what i saw about Oakland

noone here shoot to pedestrians, cause they have "red baseball cap, not blue one"

maybe you simply have too much freedom and too much political correctness which make you problems (when some minorities are not working, but only stealing)

To be honest, even as a Canadian where it's still deemed illegal, I'd highly appreciate the freedom to be able to shoot someone, in self-defense, threatening to kill my family, my friend or myself. People always feel helpless in those situations, but not if you too have a gun.

Now of course, that's outrageously abused in the US, no question. And no, movies aren't accurate. They're movies. They're Hollywood. They are "adaptations" of real stories sometimes, but they're always exaggerated to be entertaining. Never base your view of a country off of movies. But yes, in a lot of ways it would appear America is, domestically, safer than it has been before.

but Oakland is not movie :P NY before Guliani too :)

gun issue is hard, cause gun-freaks thinks (even here we have such) that "for self defense" you need Barret 12,7mm, M240, M60, MP5, M4A1 etc.

i think that best solution is really gun for self defense (aka Makarov)

but gun freaks think they must have right to have M24 with NV scope , M21, M14 which for sure is not against burglar or robber in dark street , cause it can be used by cyco-sniper

i am not saying guns are wrong, but people to carry guns should have psycho test, like in Police during exam, you are examination by psychologist, you cannot have problems with law (never punished/sentenced) etc.

cyco and freak should not have a machinegun

low capacity magazine (up to 10) pistol on 9mm Para ammo should be enough and than i will agree :]

but not for sniper rifles, automatic rifles etc. people giving 5 years old boy RPD or M60 on Youtube,

gun lobby producers are like cigarette producers

of course living on Oakland street is not my problem in EU, i simply dont want american "freedom" from Oakland on MY STREETS

and i always wanted to see Colorado Canion i wonder if this place is safe

it is stupid that US make so much problems with visa, i really wanna see Colorado Canion and take a 100 fotos of it from Canon 10-22 :D

Vilas you are obviously talking about a field that you have no experience in, about a country you consider yourself an expert in from watching Hollywood movies.

You know zilch about the World. The reason the Feds don't go after one gang on gang murder is not to trigger an all-out Mexico style shoot-out, where innocent civilians would be a valid target for a rampaging, drug-pumped assclowns.

In time, you will see UN-style legislation in the US and many of the gangs & militias will either go live in some no mans land or the SWAT's coming, ye, it's coming, baby.

UN-Style legislation definition: Health Care Reform being one example, Senators line up to tell U.N. to leave kids alone being another, and a firearms & ammunitions legislation is already in the desk, awaiting signature.

Looking at the last few pages I'm not quite understanding what the point is that you are trying to make. Yes, there are dangerous areas in the US, and yes, they are made even more so by the wide availability of firearms. And?

He's a commie and the only way to explain this behavior is either to attribute it to envy or blind hate.

you dont see differences, you see polarized view, i am not communist, european half-socialism is not communism , communism is something completly different (lack of private property) :)

you should study more about things you prescribe :) also study about herbicides in Vietnam war used by US and what health problems people do have in Vietnam after war , maybe also study your own websites about tourism to Oakland :)

but i am ending my discussion, not my country, not my problems of live, simply, dont spread your values by force to other parts of world, we dont need here gangs with guns, mc donald and etc. :)

But... But...

I love McDonald's. Their breakfasts are to die for! :D

i love salmon + salad or red bean + tomatoes or spaghetti or simply "kasha", "pyerogy":]

definitely not not-healthy food which make people look like a pig and have heart problems,

better make yourself salmon + tomato (fresh, not from can) + some citrine and you have vitamins C, E, health, potas (K), etc.

or you not know taste of natural food, you should know natural food, not made from E420, E245, Exyz, paper , chemicals and perfumes ;) you should taste real meat from farmer, not from factory, real bread made by baker, not by big bakers factory on chemicals, real sausage etc.

smoked salmon is something to die for, carrot+apple is something to die for :)

or even multiple cheese on home-made pizza or made in home boiled bean + asparagus + rice etc. + real boiled fruits instead of cola , green tea instead of cola etc. :)

really worthy instead of artificial food

I come from the prairies of Canada, I've enjoyed fresh farm food more than once. Doesn't mean I dislike McDonald's every once in a while though. ;)

for me it tastes like paper, i bought once upon a time west cookies in package

gosh.. it was perfumed

it had no taste, it was perfumed and my stomach was in pain latter

the worst for me is KFC, every time ... i had to sit and visit one place :/

i eat it few times and never touch it again, Mc is not bad , never been sick after it, but it cannot be compared to real organic food from farmer :]

like coca cola cannot be compared to tea or masala+tea or boiled fruits :)

i go to fast food only when i am hurry in some touristic journey or work-journey

but... we went offtopic :D

smoked salmon + tomato forever, cucumber+yogurt rule the world !!!

By the way, California is not representative of rest of America. It's a liberal state with liberal laws and liberal ideology.
Yea that's why they elected a republican as governor. Also as a part of America it's as much an equal representative of America as say Texas.

I laugh at reports like that, there are cults that live in the woods. But militias may own camps, training centers, etc in the woods. Where they go weekly or monthly to train. But they do not live in them. The reason why they are out in the woods is because you can do target practice, and other things without having to go to a firing range in a militia uniform and everyone looking at you weird.

Oh, I don't think you've never heard the term RINO, or to think that all Repubs are conservative, or all Dems are liberal (ok, far fewer than the opposite, but still). This is not about party, but individual ideology, and how loud you shout it. About the representative part, the loudest is in Mass. and San Fran... makes the moderate majority look small. Squeaky wheel syndrome.

Hey Maddog, Look at the crime rate before and after D.C. recently de-regulated handguns - or any city that has done it. Violent crime rate drops off a cliff, (25% decrease in D.C. first year) because the criminals are no longer the only ones with deadly force. Criminals will ALWAYS find a way to have guns. In areas with gun restrictions, the law-abiding citizens are just walking ATM's or drive by rape opportunities, unless we do have a military state with police literally on every corner. Not in my state, or country, if we can scrape off the liberal loonyness that is.

Poland is much different? Sounds like racism is a state sponsored way of life -if you look at the web- as you do Vilas.

Oh well, off to my Constitution loving, gun carrying, multicultural, family event called a Tea Party meeting.

Cheers.

LOL, I don't think the Tea Party constitutes the "moderate majority" of our nation. Sarah Palin....please. Her version of "real Americans" seems to encompass a very select type of American ie... rural, small town, lots of flags and guns + Christian. Guess 911 New York victims don't fit the bill.

Liberal extremeists make me worried about excess spending and ridiculous levels of political correctness. Right-Wing loonies make me fear for the very fabric of our country. Why don't the Tea Party ever talk about the latter I wonder...

Personally I don't trust any movement that names and models themselved after revolutionary war movements.

I actually like Arnie. He seems to be one of the few republicans in the US right now that doesn't have their head up their ass. I was just putting it out there that Arnie is a republican and by that alone makes him not a liberal.

You wonder why they don't talk about what, in particular? Not sure what you mean.

About Sarah, she's one person, in front of a camera(changes people) and has things that she individually cares about. Because she is rural centered, how, exactly, does that necessarily exclude others? You think there isn't room for others? Your talk sounds like the info is secondhand. I heartily suggest you go to both a Communist meeting and a tea party and see the difference (hint: the 'radicals' that bring their kids to meetings to have fun and don't talk about overthrowing government are the tea Partiers ;) )

@BigMac: understood.
