MEDICUS 0 Posted November 10, 2004 Very nice! Â Will it work without FDF1.3 or do i need the whole pack to play it? MfG MEDICUS
feersum.endjinn 6 Posted November 10, 2004 Will it work without FDF1.3 or do i need the whole pack to play it? It uses FDFMod weapons, objects et cetera, so you do need FDF Mod.

Cpt. FrostBite 0 Posted November 10, 2004 WHOOOOOOOOOOT!!!!!!! Awesome!! I love the desert island and the FDF desert units. Awesome work. I too wasn't expecting these untill fdf 1.4. Very nice release. I already loved the desert units in the FDF 1.3 release (even though there were only two). Keep up the great work! btw; Are those buildings self-made? I haven't seen those "arabic" buildings before, but I could be wrong. They look very nice.
txalin 2 Posted November 10, 2004 Really nice work guys, thanks, but i think ive found two small bugs, here u can see one of them If u cant see the image here u have the link Shadow bugs As u can see, the shadow doesnt appear if u are on roads. I also noticed that if u place one vehicle on roads the wheels looks like "inside" of the road, like some kind of clipping. PD: Sorry for my baaaad english
Tomislav 0 Posted November 10, 2004 at least the fins are controlling the desert now.

I also noticed that if u place one vehicle on roads the wheels looks like "inside" of the road, like some kind of clipping. They're not bugs, they are "OFP features". OFP does not render shadows on regular objects, which road blocks are. Also, it has same limitation with vehicles. Just place car on a side of a road in the beginning of the mission, when AI drives it on the road it will behave properly.
Postduifje 0 Posted November 10, 2004 Looks nice, downloading right away! edit: oh, damn, it's big!
gandalf the white 0 Posted November 10, 2004 well, i've played with it now for a bit with my clan... and i gotta say... nice work! BUT! 1) armpatches are sometimes hovering 2D textures in the air 2) those vests look REALLY green for a desert dude... maybe a bit of mud / dust on it? 3) i want a desert pilot!!
Cpt. FrostBite 0 Posted November 10, 2004 he's right. Those vest are indeed a bit too green (on the QRF guys). There are also some texture bugs on the special jeagers; on the arms and on the bottom of the legs you can still see the green camo textures. Fors the rest this is a great pack. Although I don't like the shadow 'feature' and some roads (especially the one on the far north) should have been dirt-roads and not those hightened blocks. the_shadow 0 Posted November 10, 2004 is i the only one to get a 'model special' error on all units exept the desert east and west units? i downloaded from ofp.info (mirror 1) like what i have seen though
bonko the sane 2 Posted November 10, 2004 played just a little bit but:cool dustscript (it doesnt work if u drive in reverse gear though), together with that lone eagle sound it really sets the ambience, excellent island IMO.
Commando84 0 Posted November 11, 2004 looks good on pic, dl now and fdf are known for good stuff!
m21man 0 Posted November 11, 2004 Excellent work as usual. The elevated roads are a brilliant idea, they definitely add a new twist to combat in towns. sanctuary 19 Posted November 11, 2004 I tested quickly with an fdf squad fighting 2 soviet teams in one of the town , and liked it so far. I like this new desert themed malden-like island, but i wonder why people living on this island are not more cautious with their own towns : all their cities have a lot of ruined building . They should hire a better architect to make more resistant buildings
CanadianTerror 0 Posted November 11, 2004 Excellent work as usual.
Silent N Deadly 0 Posted November 11, 2004 The island looks sweet. To bad I have to redownload the FDF mod. Had to reinstall the OS. 1 hour and a half to go... Looks great tho. Can't wait to try it.
miss_cleo 0 Posted November 11, 2004 I like the island, and i like the finnish units alot.... the opfor leaves a little to be desired, however...I havent seen those units since the days of 1.46! Lots of cool desert units and islands...still no good desert opfor. They could have at least had arab faces!!
Acro 0 Posted November 11, 2004 Yes, arab faces would be cool. Wasn't there some arabian face pack or do I remember wrong? The island itself is very good. Number of nice places to fool around.

Lots of cool desert units and islands...still no good desert opfor. They could have at least had arab faces!! Well, there are there mostly for sake of having at least something besides Finnish units. Disk space considerations were also an issue, island and textures for it already take quite a lot of space. STT & UCEEs old units take only couple of megabytes of disk space, we just modified them to work with resistance features like pistol proxies. Nothing stops you from using some excellent existing stuff already out there, like Tonal civvies or HYKs modern US infantry pack.
mick78 0 Posted November 11, 2004 I have no idea what is wrong.. BUT... i have installed the desert pack pbo (there was only one pbo file in the zip wasnt there??) into the fdfmod addons folder, and nothing happens. the island, and the units, do not show up in the editor. I have tried moving it to addons and res/addons but the same thing. I am using the fdf mod exe, and all the other fdf stuff works fine. anyone know what im doing wrong?? mick.
