    C&C Titan 1.0 relesed

hrmm. the link took me to a photo. how do you know its slow? did your link go to a video or something? i think it looks pretty groovy *edit* back to the Titan.. I agree - the armour level is crazy. I also noticed that there is a scorpian insignia on its knee - i dont know if it was there during c&c but id say not cause the scoprian insignia was NOD and the eagle was GDI. the explosions are pretty cool - something different - but then the wreckage vanishes all together... and one other bug i noticed, that is similar to one already mentioned, but just as i was about to shoot one, and i think he shot at me at roughly the same time, he took off and flew about 3.5 km's across ways (i think he hit the end of the map) then crashed in the water and blew up. the sound effects are really good.. the foot steps letting you know they are coming makes it feel more urgent.. cheers

    Warhammer 40,000 DOW

hey, your map sounds pretty good then for the cover options you've provided - but the single player campain used mostly big craters. from memory most of the multiplayer maps provided also use big craters. the negative cover was mostly water i think. i cant remember any other forms. Some maps had areas of grass that could be used as cover, but rare from memory. i didnt play with the 8 dreadnaughts. i know you can do that because thats how my brother played - i played with mostly just space marine squads with a predator or two. i might look at the mods a bit later, if they are any good? i dont know how you think it isnt a warcraft clone - the graphics engine is identical, the units having special abilities that you activate, and which increase by upgrades through buildings etc etc... it definately has a better 'feel' to it - i always like blowing shit up better than hitting it with a sword... if the TT version balances out ok, why wouldnt DoW if they added in a greater range of units? even individual units like the commanders and stuff. they all did the same in the single player campaign - which in terms of benefits to the squad was not much.. it was much more beneficial to have a medic attached to the squad than the commander/librarian.. never played the other races too much tho. time to go mick

I think that TT is a much different game and cant really be compared to the computer version. The computer version has basically one form of cover, being large craters, which is odd because you cant get or have access to any weapons that cause such large craters, where-as TT has walls, buildings, whatever you can imagine and build with a few bits of foam or plastic or cardboard. The armies available in DoW are very small compared to the range of figures available for the tt version. Squads in the TT version dont all stand in a big bunch. they can spread out (to a point - i think 2" or something dumb) and with the points system, you didnt just end up with people fielding armies of dreadnaughts and terminators. The only thing that stopped my friends and i getting into TT was the insane price for figures. we were 14 or something at the time, and just didnt have $$$ to waste on it. Whilst I didn't mind DoW, it is basically a Warcraft 3 clone. A lot more could have gone into it, and possibly even different game mechanics - say maybe something like Ground Control, where you keep the same units and choose which ones you want to take in to battle with you for the mission, and occassionally you get re-inforcements etc. So if you keep your units alive you benefit from that in the next mission etc etc. Not just building a base for every damn map. Like even the campaign mission where you had to get from point a to point b along some kind of roadway required you to build a base. - and thus you could build 8 dreadnaughts and stomp your way through the forests without even stopping to take cover. ah well. the could have beens hey. night

    Warhammer 40,000 DOW

the game sucks!!! it could have been so good, but so much of it just got.. rushed? who knows. Every mission in the campaign is simple - all it requires is 8 dreadnaughts in a group, and walk around till everything is dead. An example of it being incomplete or not properly play tested is when you have to attack a chaos base to capture the 4 Rune sites around it. you kill all the chaos, and capture the 4 sites. The game then says you have to hold on to the rune sites for 2 minutes before re-inforcements get there. the mission is piss easy - and to make it even easier, they give you about 8 lemon-rusty battle tanks... Nothing attacks. Nothing at all happens. You sit there and wait. and wait. and wait. and then you go on to the next mission. The campaign story line is out right lame and predictable. It makes little to no sense, and I dont feel that it even slightly encompases the Warhammer 40k world. If youve read some of the books, its a lot darker than they portrayed. the ending just makes the marines look stupid. really stupid. and so obvious a set up for an expansion pack.. i was hoping the expansion pack would be gene-stealers or something like that - but it looks to be just chaos again judging by the ending.. Multi-player is ok for a bit - but in the long run no different to any other RTS really - it appears to have been copied off, or at least heavily influenced by Warcraft 3. The range of units could have been much better - i dont think the races were much different at all really - especially chaos marines -v- marines. Orks also followed pretty much the same structure i found. anyone else notice that with the orks and eldar, the computer rarely built up the units to full size? stupid. I was disappointed to see that there were no field support - there is a big range of stuff in 40k that is interesting and funny and would have made for good gaming (other than 8 dreadnaughts walking along). anyway- thats my whinge about the game  have fun

    addon idea: HYK tortured captive

Drill you are the man. your avatar pic is damn weird, but you are still the man. and calm_terror, I dont actually agree with a lot of what you said. If the US military does not rescue civilians, that is ok - there are plenty of addons out there that are other than US - *AND* seeming that OFP is generally fantasy based, why cant the civilian model be, for the purposes of that mission, a diplomat or ambassador? GP boots are pretty standard every where - and while I agree that the type of troops the US are now fighting in Iraq probably dont want them, there are plenty of para-military forces out there that do. If this addon ever came to be, they wouldnt need to be used as a purely Iraqi conflict addon. I am assuming you are not referring to the numerous *civilian* hostages that have had their heads cut off?? Cause that is pretty darn realistic torment!! "hey, if your government doesnt pull out, i might cut your head off... oh. woops. i already have?" You arent getting the money off the business man when you kidnap him... you get it off their families/company. HAve you seen 'Proof of life'? set in south america somewhere? or a more recent one set in Mexico where the little girl got kidnapped and denzel rescued her? 'man on fire' or something like that.... torturing or beating is a domination thing - it is to ensure they know who is in control, that their threats are serious, and, to limit the chances of escape - pretty hard to run away with mutilated feet, broken legs etc etc. Are you suggesting that Iraq is not a real country?? or that they wouldnt torture each other to get info out of each other?? the 'insuregents' have an intelligence network - they are not just simply guys with AK47's and whatever else. I'm all for this addon, and think a small range of injured models would be all thats needed- say a guy in bush camo, a guy in desert camo, a dude in a orange prisoner suit or whatever, and also a civilian.. they can even all have the same injuries etc.. just so they can be used in a range of maps.

    addon idea: HYK tortured captive

like some Nike Air Max GP boots? boots are boots man - governments all buy them from the same place - the cheepest manufacturer. this is a good idea for an addon! would make for a lot of potential missions. id also suggest if there was going to be custom anim's etc, then to make a civilian guy as well - rescue the businessman taken hostage by militants.. that sorta thing.
  9. sounds promising! SO- to up my offer from before, I'll do a remdition of Vanilla Ice - Ice Ice Baby, Cher - If i could turn back time, and then, to top it all off... Dont blame it on the rain, by Milli Vanilli. costume for milli vanilli could be hard. I'll also hug and kiss you both, introduce you to my brother, and bugger it, i'll throw in a fun-sized mars bar for each of you. Just kiddin man- hopefully it all works out. im going back to my corner. mick.
  10. ah man. that sucks. if i give you both a big hug and a kiss will you please finish it for us?? what if i sing you a song? maybe 'if i could turn back time' by cher? (fishnets, cannons, the works) what if i introduce you to my younger sister? wait. i dont have one. what if i introduce you to my younger brother? come on. who else is going to make me my yellow suited trops with wizard hats and clown shoes? *hopefully* hear from you soon!!! cheers mick
  11. Hey skeg_man, I am now with nx_illusion. You should have done a better job with the textures. I am thinking you should have done them bright yellow, with pink polka dots. And instead of helmets, I want wizard hats. AND i want big clown boots on, not GP boots. That would have been much more realistic. and then compare to all the other listed addons that nx gave. I am thinking he might not like the BDU's cause he hasnt seen australian ones? he might just want our army to look more.. russian. that way, its not much of a change for him! These units well and truly compare to all those he listed, especially once the blood is sorted out - but i dont like dying anyway.. and that is pretty much the end of the mission if i die, so i only see the blood textures for a few seconds! ok, im going to go sit in the corner now and wait for nx_illusion to release an extensive list of Australian infantry. then we can whinge about his attempts "you should have made them more like BIS units" blah blah blah.
  12. Are you kidding? I think these are some of the best units in the game. My mum used to say, "If you cant say anything nice, dont say anything at all." Well, she didn't really, but she might have. If you don't like the textures, no doubt you can quickly knock up some ADF units that compete with these ones? (If you just mean the blood textures, thats been said over n'over, but you get that too.) I thought not. if you are really unhappy with the units, delete them from your hard drive, and ask for a full refund.

    Half-life 2 is out (and CS:Source)

I HATE THAT STEAM PROGRAM. IT IS THE DUMBEST THING EVER. I read a review of HL2 where the reviewer said it was seemless. My game is nothing but seems. Run forward for 4-5 minutes killing things, then you get a 'loading' screen which takes anywhere from 10 seconds to a minute, and then, on top of that, sometimes it downloads something from steam! this can take up to 2-3 minutes, seriously interupting game enjoyment. and making you patch it is damn irritating as well. especially when what the patch is fixing is not explained. i wanted to play it yesterday, and had to download a patch that took 45 minutes to download then install. if I have to do that every second day or whatever just so it makes it harder for someone to pirate, i dont think this game will be getting much use at all. NOT HAPPY JAN.

You need to update your version of RAR - I had the same problem with this addon and many others - though it took some time to realise. I also had to go back and redo a lot of the unzipping because the old version of rar missed things if it was packed with the new version. Â Â i think that makes sense. cheers mick
