Acecombat 0 Posted October 6, 2003 Hmm but this thing never happened at anyother island for me , even the subtropical ones look alikes like Sarugao , Somalia island and many more....*Now they are all memories infront of Tonal * But i want to hear from BAS directly if they did this and so how? benu 1 Posted October 6, 2003 @ Oct. 05 2003,23:59)]i can't understand ppl complaining for bugs as soon as a huge addon "pack" with so much work has been released, like they are in a contest to be the first to notice one...Unless it's a bug that renders the addon unusable (crasher bug for instance) or for troubleshooting. If i made an addon or a mission i would want it to be good as possible. And this means i would WANT to know about bugs so i could fix them. I think reporting bugs is a good thing, as long as you get the tone right and make it constructive criticism. 2 bugs i found yet:sometimes i get an error message during the sp mission, where you have to stop the convoy and go for the checkpoint, where it says: cannot load script ak47hd.sqs There seem to be more scripts missing. In multiplayer this means that the server aborts the mission. I will make a list when we have played all missions in mp. The one i noticed yesterday was in jungleop, missing script was Camera.sqs. joltan 0 Posted October 6, 2003 Hmm but this thing never happened at anyother island for me , even the subtropical ones look alikes like Sarugao , Somalia island and many more....*Now they are all memories infront of Tonal * The makers of these other islands probably didn't set the island latitude in the config. If you don't set this parameter you get a latitude that resembles the one of Nogova, Malden, etc. that are located far up north. About the quick dawn/dusk in southern regions in real life consult any good geography book or a travel guide to an equatorial country.
Snake Man 407 Posted October 6, 2003 The seasonal changes has not happen in other islands (that I know of) because island creators didn't use them. Tonal and Tonali 1 are both latitude 39.6 degrees and longitude -25.12 degrees on the global map. Big thanks for Nagual for adding this "minor detail" to them, very nice. Acecombat 0 Posted October 6, 2003 Thats the best thing about BAS usually the frickin minute details that they go to lengths at making perfect , its just too damn awesome. One more thing though Nagual youve written that the population is muslim in Tonal (somalia anyone) so what about some mosques in the area?
Major Fubar 0 Posted October 6, 2003 Thats why i say my Ge4 440 MX rocks  Leone i think Toadlife just pointe dout to me that Windows doesnt use more the 1.5 GB of pagefile memory so giving it a whole new HDD isuseless   maybe.. Well, from my lectures, we were told that having the pagefile on a different HDD than the Windows directory allows the PC to utilize it much better. Not about allowing it a bigger size, but faster access.
hellfish6 7 Posted October 6, 2003 I'm probably going to get shot for this, as I really don't mean to be looking the gift horse in the mouth (so to speak), but it would be super cool to see that stadium from the BHD island in Tonal. It's just one of those things that when you see it, it's like, oh yeah - that should be in a city. Sorry. I'll go back to moderating now,
shadow 6 Posted October 6, 2003 And how about making Mogadishu too? Plenty of flat desert out there that should be suitable I'll tag along with Hellfish6 now
Eviscerator 0 Posted October 6, 2003 Probably not. Mogadishu has been done to death already, Tonal is much more generic than limiting ourselves to one place and will provide mission makers with somewhere to place missions that are meant to take place anywhere in Africa. Thud_and_Blunder 0 Posted October 6, 2003 DV: Quote[/b] ]bug 2 is: when i get killed in action, the screen's turningto black and there it keeps stayin. I had that; I found that if I pressed the left-cursor-arrow and then enter, it took me back to my previous save point. I suspect that the normal "Load - Retry - Quit" options are still there, they're just blanked out. I bet Hellfish is enjoying his nearly-Rhodesian fix almost as much as I am! Fantastic piece of work, even on my 1 gig, 256Mb RAM Dell laptop! Thank goodness I've finished my Open University coursework...
Nagual 0 Posted October 6, 2003 Just a few points, will get back to this later after some missions making. Roads, like has been said, were mostly done with wrpedit, so i really didnt care at the time, it was better than no roads. But i may correct some in the future with the new wrptool, was always my plan (if i have time), just really not something i was going to do for version 1 (ya know, real life, wife ect). There is definatley mission bugs in campaign mission 3 which i will fix. Invis des walls in mission 2 is a mission script bug. And that ak47.sqs one in rebel road, lol,one of last things i did to the pack was take that script out cause i thought it wasnt needed ;) So will fix that. Edit Something i forgot to mention in readme, is in the city of Tatu, and few other places, there single road pieces that are visible on the map as broken sections, but ingame cannot be seen. They are invisible road for AI to use the wider back alleyways, so there is some clear alternative way for AI to path with aside from main roads.

Major Fubar 0 Posted October 6, 2003 OK, hope this hasn't already been raised, here goes: Any plans to release the armed versions of the BRDM or UAZ in the standard OFP East paint scheme? If not, would you give consent for someone to do a retexture of your models?

joltan 0 Posted October 6, 2003 One question concerning the smokes the officers in the OpForce pack are equiped with: will these blind the AI, too, or are these just the normal OFP smokes?

SelectThis 0 Posted October 6, 2003 One question concerning the smokes the officers in the OpForce pack are equiped with: will these blind the AI, too, or are these just the normal OFP smokes? The units in the OPFOR have been coded to use the JAM smoke grenades (via the Fired EH in the cpp) so the smoke will block AI (Same with the Marker rounds). Note the smoke doesnt block the view of AI perfectly, if they detected you before the smoke went up they will still fire at you. More than one smoke maybe needed to form an effective screen. Having said that, when testing the JAM smokes, I was able to lie inside a smoke cloud while a squad of enemy AI ran directly past me, they only saw me when the smoke disappeared. Well, yes, I remembered seeing some screenshots - that's why I asked, but thanks anyway Norsu. In the other BAS thread I thought they said these units would be in the OPFOR pack, which has now been "Africanized" to better fit in with Tonal (and they look great, BTW). Â Â Was just curious about the future of the "plain vanilla" East versions... @Dauragon: that's why I asked about permission for someone else to do it. MarcusJClifford 1 Posted October 6, 2003 Brilliant Island, addons etc etc ... as most others have said. 2 Question - im not sure if they are bugs or not 1. On some of the roads (complete roads) I seem to hit something - it sounds like when you hit a building / tree etc, but there is nothing there - the jeep (in my case) was ruined (undrivable) - is this a bug or excellent modeling of the African road system 2. When using your MH-60K to fastrope rangers onto the top of one of the 2 towers in Tatu it seemed to be fine - hovering at 5M over the tower -> Hold Position -> Fastrope - but then the ropes appeared high above the blackhawk and the rangers fastroped down them, fell off the bottom of the rope and then got chewed up by the rotor of the MH-60K - 1 even landed on the spindle area and was able to stand up ontop of my Blackhawk (I was still in hold position mode) All the others died when they fell through the rotors and hit the roof of the tower. Again, I think this is a minor bug (low priority as I can always land on the roof of the tower). A great update pack! Congrats to all involved p.s. I was the one who stared a thread about 6 months ago about making financial contribuitions to support BAS, I think with this Island / addons / campain etc I feel even more strongly that you guys should be rewarded. That is, finally, bugs are reported a gazillion times, not to mention those already mentioned in the readme and still reported over and over on this thread... That's why my point was, WAIT A MINUTE, it's not a contest, play, test, enjoy, and after a while when you have gathered some signigicant list, post about the bugs that either are really "critical" and/or that haven't been reported yet. Plus, BAS also mentioned their bug report page to post too: BAS bug report page
miles teg 1 Posted October 6, 2003 I did however notice a wierd bug with some of the African civilian women that were invisible.... but I'm not sure if that's cuz I was running out of virtual memory space on my harddrive as I didn't notice it later. Chris... your yanking my chain right? Â Look up a few posts, lol. And for anyone makinig missions!!!!! If you plan on the mission being saved at some point DO NOT USE THE RANDOM CIVS/MILITIA People will end up with the invisible units after reloading. They are really only good for cutscenes where you need lots of random civs or in MP. There is a huge amount of variation in the random units, the combinations of clothing and heads are more than most people could use. Too bad the savegame ruins them. But there are quite a few normal/nonrandom units to use. Ooops.... Sorry about that Ebud. When I posted that, I didn't see those posts before mine. People were posting so quickly I guess that between the time I read the last post and the time I sent in my post, two or three more people posted about the problem I mentioned. Anyhoo... I did read the readme before posting but I missed that part about the civilians. So my mistake for not reading it more carefully. Thanks for explaining the problem. Much appreciated. I'm having a ton of fun with this map....arrrg, I wish I didn't havve school today. Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>
