PowerHour 0 Posted October 6, 2003 Really nice stuff. Finally got to try it out...:) About that 4th player bug on the Rebel Road mission...(I don't CTD it just freezes solid) Just a question..I'm wondering if were being allowed to load the men up a bit to much and then by the time you get to the 4th player (anyone over 3, I loaded the first 3 guys up with HMG ,RPG Launcher, 3 HMG 200 round boxes, 4 RPG's,Binoculars, and a S&W Hand gun. Instead of arrowing through the men left and right (I CTD'd 3 times doing this) I looked through the Group and tried to select the 5th soldier and same freeze up... SOLID. Just wondering if it might be a load out problem. Probably minor whatever it is. Great work once again BAS.. Powerhour Edit: I noticed something interesting when I was to play Rebel Road again. It said cannot load missing bis_weapon pack and it loaded anyways. I did a from scratch install today to get addons in order. Yep sure as shit I forgot to install that stupid little BIS weapons pack and Grenade launchers pack. That message never came up again.. I never tried to load the men up after that and check the 4th man bug out (didn't need a CTD) but It's got me wonderin now. Lata
Antichrist 0 Posted October 6, 2003 I don't like that 90% of the roads are not joined properly at intersections! And also I played 4 missions of the campaign and so far CAS was absolutely useless, is it a problem with the pilot's AI or the script itself I am not sure, but there is no point having that script in if it is not working properly, rather replace it with artillery script! I don't like your tone, so were even. Your just going to have to live with the roads for a while. We all knew about them and Nag worked his ass off to try and fix as much as could, but to fix all those roads would have set back the release by weeks as the towns were all built before the roadworks were final (and before Visitors nice roadbuilding tools). And re-laying out the roads and then rebuilding all the island around them was just not an option at this time. I think this issue is rather small, all things considered. The missions are all being looked at by Nag and I'm sure at some point they will all work as advertised. Well If you don't like criticism I suggest you stop producing addons, as for the roads it is not a minor issue, cause this really distracts from gameplay! ebud 18 Posted October 6, 2003 It's not the criticism, it's your attitiude. Trust me I've taken much harsher critiques, yet they have been less smug and have been more constructive. <edit> and did I not say the roads would be looked at for a possible future update. That was just my opinion. <edit>
Supah 0 Posted October 6, 2003 I am getting a rather fun bug every now and then. Sometimes the main body of some of the civilians (men in long white dresses) goes invisible and only their hands and feet are left visible. Its really rather funny looking Is that my pc or something you guys have been getting too?

Sometimes the main body of some of the civilians (men in long white dresses) goes invisible and only their hands and feet are left visible. Its really rather funny looking Is that my pc or something you guys have been getting too? It's an engine bug and it's in the readme Here is my reply from page 18. That problem is from the units using random textures for the clothing an d the heads. When you save a mission that uses the units that have random skins, they will be invisible when you reload it. We kept the random civ units for custscenes and muliplayer, etc (thought they were removed from the missions). We did redo them and make 3 women and 6(I think) men civ units that do NOT have random skins, but will still work when loading a save-game. That is an engine problem, and it IS in the OPFOR readme. Hope that helps. It's only an issue when loading a saved game that uses the random civ units. And those are women btw, lol.

miles teg 1 Posted October 6, 2003 Well the unlinked roads don't bother me none. I think this map is absolutely amazing!!! I really can't complain at all. I did however notice a wierd bug with some of the African civilian women that were invisible.... but I'm not sure if that's cuz I was running out of virtual memory space on my harddrive as I didn't notice it later. At any rate, I've been playing this map all day making missions with it using the Operation Frenchpoint troops (and their airpack) along with the BAS African rebels in order to simulate some "Congo" missions rescuing some missionaries. I absolutely LOVE the AP RPG and the AA RPG gunners. It's super scary seeing (and hearing) those RPG's go wooshing by your head. I was surprised that even with the enemy forces using HD weapons, with only one squad they still kicked my ass even though the West forces had 3 squads of French troops and 2 squads of government troops. Of coarse they had a DShK machine gun which mowed down alot of my boys. Eventually I put in some Gazelle gunships that knocked out the DShK MG position. Fortunately the civilian captives ran into the forest otherwise they would have gotten toasted especially when the Gazelle equipped with rockets strafed the rebel base. What is so cool is that this map has both awesome jungles and also some great deserts and huge cities. I can't say enough how cool that is. This map will definitely become a standard I think for countless missions. Awesome work BAS team! Chris G. aka-Miles Teg<GD>

Chris... your yanking my chain right? Â Look up a few posts, lol. And for anyone makinig missions!!!!! If you plan on the mission being saved at some point DO NOT USE THE RANDOM CIVS/MILITIA People will end up with the invisible units after reloading. They are really only good for cutscenes where you need lots of random civs or in MP. There is a huge amount of variation in the random units, the combinations of clothing and heads are more than most people could use. Too bad the savegame ruins them. But there are quite a few normal/nonrandom units to use.

Guest Posted October 6, 2003 @ Oct. 06 2003,11:07)]I had CTD's when i first tested...here's how i fixed that. wont work for everybody as there can be a lot of different reasons why, but still, if it helps some of you... ok, ok, i shoot : I set my swapfile to a larger value, as i have a lot of addons at the  same time it's now set to 1.25 GB (formerly was 1GB) Then, i defrag'ed my hdd again to make sure that the swapfile was  unfragmented and at the begining of the hdd. (for those who have unlimited but unfixed swapfile, you may try to make it fixed and fine tune the size of it) If I remember school correctly, it is better if you can have the swapfile(pagefile) on a physically seperate HDD? If so, I actually do have a seperate HDD in my box, if this might help. I'll give it a try. Yep....a different HDD is good, set to 2 or 3 times the amount of RAM you have. ebud 18 Posted October 6, 2003 I had lots of crashes when I had put a gf4 Ti in-place of the Gf4 mx that came with my machine. I put the old card in and they completely stopped. I'm dead serious. That doesn't help, but it's soemthing to think about.
Acecombat 0 Posted October 6, 2003 Thats why i say my Ge4 440 MX rocks Leone i think Toadlife just pointe dout to me that Windows doesnt use more the 1.5 GB of pagefile memory so giving it a whole new HDD isuseless maybe..

That doesn't help, but it's soemthing to think about. That doesnt seem to be an game bug. It sounds to me that you may need an more powerfull powersupply. AN GF4TI eats loads more Watt then an Small GF4 MX. You best download an program that checks the voltages of your powersupply to see if that might be the problem

The Ti was  a much better card though, especially for other games. And Speeedy, I only had crashes with OFP as well. And they were with BIS missions and units as well. So, the old card went back in and no crashes. If it was a power issue, then I would have thought it would pop up in other games as well? But it never did. coporal_punishment 0 Posted October 6, 2003 Not meant to be offensive or anything but why arn't the roads connected, is it because of your resolution like some bridges on trinity look wierd with low resolution, is it the same with these islands.
Lt_Damage 0 Posted October 6, 2003 Not meant to be offensive or anything but why arn't the roads connected, is it because of your resolution like some bridges on trinity look wierd with low resolution, is it the same with these islands. Read up a few posts on page 21, it has already been discussed. Not as nicely as you put it though In short the roads were done before Visitor was released with that auto-road building tools, and as you can appreciate manually redoing all the roads would take them a lot of time. Would you really delay release for trivial issues such as these? Â

Acecombat 0 Posted October 6, 2003 On interesting find i made was and want to ask BAS team about is that DID you guys somehow alter the islands season effect? I am used to playing at 18:30 time the most since the sunset is nice and most of the time i play at that time , so i fired up Tonal and at 18:30 i found it was night and not evening  , and i was a bit shocked to see street lights everywhere on and no sunset or orangish glow , so i turned back one hour and got that typical 18:30 glow of the sunset on 17:30 , so did you guys tweak this setting or not? Because on nearly all islands 18:30 is sunset time but on Tonal its abit past that and the sky is all DARK blue.

So for it being dark at 18:30, that's perfectly fine.
