m21man 0 Posted September 25, 2003 Another incident : I was playing the "Bird Cage" mission with Hudson's F/A-18s. I came up over a hill with my wingmen and suddenly saw at least 6 Shilkas aiming at me. I managed to score a lucky hit with a wide spread CBU, but my plane had been turned into flying Swiss cheese. I glided back to base after my fuel tanks leaked, and I hit the "Gear Down" action as I came straight towards the runway. I managed to glide down in third person view, and just as I was about to land, I took a glance at the bottom of my plane to see if it looked damaged, and one thought streaked through my mind a split second before the plane hit the tarmac: OH HOLY SHIT I HAVEN'T GOT A RIGHT WHEEL PULL UP PULL PULL UP I'M GONNA DIE!!! Needless to say, missing a wheel when landing is a bad idea. I did actually manage to punch out before the F/A-18 rammed a parked A-10 at about 200 knots. KA-BOOOOOOOM!!! TopCover 0 Posted September 27, 2003 Fired up the resistance campaign with the explosion mod after a clean OFP install and came to the mission "The Pass", i think its called. Instead of using a mix of mines, satchels and rpg launchers, I decided to equip 3 men in my squad with 4 satchels each, myself doing the same. I left the rest of my team at the starting point on top of the hill and took my saboteurs halfway down the hill. We waited untill the single uaz had before we popped out of the bushes and proceeded to plant the 16 satchels along 200 ft stretch of road in narrowest part of the passage. There was plenty of time to walk back up the Hill before Tasmanian Devil announced the arrival of a large convoy.  A group of tanks rolled into view with high speed. They werent my primary target so I let them pass. Then came the supply convoy itself, closer and closer.... I detonated my charges  with 1 other saboteur....KABOOOOOM! the first half of the convoy was vaporized, the leading BMP flying up in the air. The remaining trucks begun to spew out russian soldiers....5,Detonate! BOOM! 6,Detonate BOOM! Smoke, fire, debris and corpes everywhere....It was terrible! Sometimes OFP gets a little too real for to feel warm and fuzzy about an accomplished objective.
ArchangelSKT 0 Posted October 1, 2003 Well me and my cousin has this " Classic " layout on desert Island that we actually play ALOT . We just put ourselves as two US snipers in the south on the top of the hill ( you all would know where it is ) then put a couple of ammo crates in two groups . One is close behind us and the other ( if we have to retreat ) is somewhat further away near the uttermost south of the Island . Then we just let our position be stormed by hundreds of Russian troops . We usually do ok in the beginning as we can engage from a far distance , but oh my there are so many . It starts to get really scary when they go around on both the flanks , and since we only are 2 people then it is hard to cover all the ground . We have to tell eachother when one person has got to go back to re-load so we don`t let some sides incovered . Anyway needless to say we always get killed , I remember once when I was back at the far group of the ammocrates and he was still alone on the top of the hill , he got so wounded he could only crawl , though he still " capped " enemies . I had to decide if I would cover the sides from where I was or run up to him , I chose to run up to him....LOL was fun as hell I tried to cover him as best I could , but he went out of ammo and we both went down in a hail of bullets when the hill was over run Simple mission , but GREAT fun
Judge Rabbi 0 Posted October 2, 2003 Never had Rambo style missions before, and they were not as exciting. Anyway, I was on one of the Red Hammer missions, called "Grounded" where the Mi-17 is down and you need to repair it. I left the medic to guard the chopper. So, I hopped into the near by Jeep (and since it was about 11PM, I decided to do a kamakazi run) so foot down on the pedal, I drove down the road to the fuel truck, noticing 4 soldiers along the way. I ran over two of them, then headed straight for the base. The sirens came on, bullets were heading towads me, smashing the window. A soldier was about to throw a grenade. He was in front of a builing, so I barged into him. The jeep came to a halt, and I quicky got out. The M60 gunner and grenadier fired like mad at me, taking out the jeep at the same time. I quickly took cover, and took out the remaing soldiers in the base. Not far off was a soldier firing in the wrong direction. Â Took him out, grabed the jeep and went all the way back to the Hind. Not as interesting as you're battles, but this was on hell of a mission I managed pulled off!

Snypa UK 0 Posted October 2, 2003 anyway i remember a moment in my mission editors where i knock around with ideas and i had this mechanized infantry assault on montignac and it was amazing cuz it all worked perfectly and the APCS roll in with guns blazing and all these infantry pour out and advance under fire it was one of those moments where you start ducking when a virtual bullet whizzes past. the noise of it was incredible and in night goggles it looked like desert storm footage without the lens flare. i think OFP2 should have lens flare
ArchangelSKT 0 Posted October 2, 2003 archangels "classic" mission sounds like those two snipers from somalia who won the american medal of honor posthumously holding hundreds of somalis off the helicopter yes we mentioned that when we both got to see the movie , we didn`t know the story until then , though of course we played it long before the movie was out . We both like missions where we have REALLY bad odds
the_unknown_one 0 Posted October 7, 2003 my first mision for SOFPG is The Great Escape; this is what happened playing my beta version erlier... I drive to town to get shopping, and the Ruskies come. It says "Escape from Skye" so i drive north to my friend Bill's house. He gives me a gun ,tells me about the resistance base, and we set off to find a way off the island. We drive my car over the hill, but trash it in the forest... i hear gunshots over our heads. *ZING* *ZING* bangbang and the firing stops. My comrade, Bill, managed to save me from the Death squad (good old johnny) so we decided to find a car. We walk to the nearbey village, but noone is there. A resistance tank, battered, drives up the hill, followed by a squad of Resistance soldiers. We trek to another town, only to find it guarded. At this time we have an AKS74U from the spetznatz, and a Hunting rifle. I get the rifle off Bill, and snipe two of the guards. I realise there ias a BMP 3 on the other dies of the village, so i creep down, and hid behind the tree. I sneak ito the village, taking an AK74, and use the Satchel Charges i stole from the dead spetznatz on the BMP3, the timeron 30 seconds. I run, and shelter in a buiding, , whne i shoot the other two guards, and lok for a car. (weapon check: we have an AK74 each, and Bill has his revolveri forgot to tell you about) No luck, so we trek north to Delovince. I can see from a hill a truck in the street. A taxi drives past. I notice an MG post, and manage to keep out of its sight down onto the street. I get in thetruck, and drive away up the hill. A t-80 from the town is chasing me! I drive up, pick up Bill, and we drive as ast as we can away to the mountai. i try and drive up it, But it is too slow. The T-80 fires its MG at us, we barely survive, but then it Blows our truck way, where it slides into the pool underneath. the_unknown_one
5hole 0 Posted October 8, 2003 The little T80 that could. It was the new CTI set to "insane". Â After a long, hard battle for Gravette, I noticed that the T80 parked in town was not completely broken (couldn't say the same for the crew though). Â I promptly drove it back to base and fixed it up. Â My buddy and I drove it to Lemoule, where we had our heads handed to us my about two platoons of mixed armor. Â Respawning, I loaded up for bear and headed back to Lemoule. Â When I get to the outskirts, guess what I see? Â A slightly beat-up, but otherwise functional T80 (with my corpse on the turret no less). Â So I crawl up to it, hop in and get the hell out of Dodge as quickly as I can (in reverse even, at least until I get behind that little rise outside of town. Â A little repair work and we're headed back to Lemoule in this seemingly indestructible T80, with her third crew. Â Alas, while she made a valiant effort and was a decisive factor in the conquering of Lemoule, we lost her for good in that final battle. Â The prisoners. This was an old one, I think the last mission by a friend of mine before we lost him completely to EQ. Â Anyway, our little group of Black Ops paradrops in just north of... Joudov, I think. Â We're to head out from there and liberate some prisoners at a camp by the river. Â Things were going well at the beginning, even if it did get a little messy while we were neutralizing the guards. Â No one was down, mind you, it just got a little too noisy for our liking. Â We quickly accounted for all the packages, armed them up however we could from the guards, and headed out to our exfil point. Â Hopefully we could still get there by first light (it was about 0415 by now). Nothing doing. Â Our first RV out of the prison camp was in a forest just up the hill from the camp. Â Just as we got everyone rounded up there, we hear a whole lot of unfriendliness converging on the camp. Â We have to organize our subsequent departure rather hastily as there are now at least three, if not five dismounted mechanized patrols radiating from the camp area not half a klick away. Â So we head out south, skirting around a village as stealthily as we could (this is not easy when your packages are all in nice white wrappers...) and are maybe a hundred meters form another patch of forest where we find the Bad Guys, not content with foot patrols, toss an unexpected and rather nasty surprise our way. Â Two large, squat, ugly Hinds, buzzing around our route like a couple of seriously PO'd bumblees. Now let me tell you, not one other moment in this game has actually gotten the hairs on the back of my neck to stand on end. Â Nothing like crawling through the woods with these fat, nasty choppers flying deceptively lazy circles around your position. Â Nothing like trying to get your packages across a clearing when they're not looking. Â Nothing like watching the guy bringing up the rear frantically dodging cannon fire and literally diving into the woods because he was dragging ass on the crossing. Â And the whole time you're watching that sky get redder and redder, brighter and brighter, and there's not a thing you can do about it because one of those damn helicopters parked himself right in the next clearing. Â The worst is when you run out of woods and end up hiding in a barn with 3 former POWs, in broad daylight, listening to that hind chew up the rest of your section... That was by far the three most intense hours of my life (yes, it took THAT LONG to get out of there). Â I was really there in those woods. -5hole

andersson 285 Posted October 9, 2003 It can get very intense in Ia Trang for me. I made a SF-mission where you have to find a downed chinook. The thing is its random placed and your huey will crash! You dont know where you start, where or when you chopper will crash or how many of your group that will survive the crash. Weather, time and VC are also random. I dont know anything and made the mission! Anyway. I scripted the enemy groups to walk slowly and be very cautious ( stealth and UP mode) when they dont know of any enemy. So there I am 5:20 in the morning. Its a little fog and the sky is red, the djungel sound are intense. I´m scanning a opening with my binoculars before I cross it. I´m just about to when I see a shadow crossing a path on the other side of the opening. All I could see is a group of VC that is crossing the path one by one slowly, weapons ready and watching all directions. The morning sun and the fog made the picture so beautiful. And their behaviour and the fact that I just was about to cross that opening made it so intense. If I´d cross that opening I´d probably get into a firefight and lost. Me against 4 and with bad lightconditions from my direction... I couldnt see where they were going, they just disapeared in the djungel. And so did I, in the other direction. To be shot up 15 minutes later by a sniper.... That was one of my best ofp-moments.
Skulleye 0 Posted October 9, 2003 I made a SF-mission where you have to find a downed chinook. Care to share? It sounds very good and if it doesn't use too many addons I don't have, I would like to play it.
andersson 285 Posted October 9, 2003 Sure. Its played as a MP-mission but its only for one player (its a respawn thing) so you cant save. When you die you respawn as a POW somewhere and must escape to continue. And it can be a very loong mission so you have to like to sneak around the djungel for a couple of hours and there can be very long distances you have to walk. But the only addon I use is "sebnam2". I´m thinking of adding my backpack but right now its only "sebnam2". I´ll write a readme (there are some scripts of other people involved) and correct some bugs that I noticed the last time I played. Then I can mail it to you.

Harnu 0 Posted October 12, 2003 Just last night on the boneyard we we're playing a Tonal map. I had RPGs and an AK47. I lobbed one RPG at Tex's Helo. It missed by a few feet. He then leveled out as I reloaded. Fired another one leading him quite a bit. Then BAM! Landed right onto his helo. Was quite the shot as he was still going pretty fast
The Frenchman 0 Posted October 12, 2003 Speaking of BD's server: I was also in that game. I was a west pilot and took the Littlebird for a spin. There were rpgs shot at me and one barely missed me. The armor level was low and I saw edc (I think it was edc) shooting at me from on top of a building. I started to head torward him and I was going to crash into him. edc (I think) was shooting the heli like crazy and I successfully crashed into the building. But I went slightly too low and he survived.
ZIKAN 0 Posted October 12, 2003 lol Frenchman that was me on the roof , and yes I was amazed i survived too I emptied a whole RPD mag into your little bird as you flew over head, you pulled it around 360 then flew straight at me head on, respect! But many weird things were happening in those games last night, but lots of fun anyhoo. I will be back to that server for sure, so you can get your revenge
edc 0 Posted October 12, 2003 Also in the Boneyard MP Nite, I saw a couple of west guys fairly close to me. One was a pilot and the other was a Ranger. I killed the ranger w/ my RPD, but as I targeted the pilot and tried to fire, I released I was out of bullets(oh shit! ). I ducked behind a crate that miracuously was just in front of me, and reloaded before the pilot could reach my position. I crawled out from behind the crate and nailed him, maybe 15 feet away. Unfortunately, my legs were hit from the Ranger, so I had to crawl
dpvu 0 Posted October 12, 2003 I just had a funny moment in SP. I was playing in the editor, flying around in a DAP blasting some stuff. When I got out to inspect the damage, standing in front of the chopper, the AI gunner turned the minigun on me, instantly killing me! Then while I was dead, he got out and moved into the pilots seat and started the chopper again!

Skul 0 Posted November 8, 2003 OFP Moment: I was playing the 'Incursion' (steal the documents) mission. I managed to sneak up to the General's house and kill the guard at the door. I was about to sneak in, when another soldier ran out. He was heading straight for me, so I blasted him with the HK. He fell down, but then his buddies ran out, too. They couldn't see me because I was hiding in a bush, but they tripped the alarm. I turned to my left to see a whole group of Russians materialise out of thin air and kill me! What orders did Guba give his men? "If any spies are found, camcreate more men!" Speaking of Guba... where the heck is he? Probably down by the beach with Angelina, eh?
