X-Cam prototype map

Recommended Posts

Hi,

as I already announced in this thread (http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?173755-quot-X-Cam-quot-and-quot-DAC-quot-Project/page15),

we have started to work on the "X-Cam prototype map".

We want to let our creativity run wild on this map, and want to use the possibilities

of many object combinations that result from the object libraries of all Arma parts.

So, maybe the result will not be very realistic, but we have this intention either.

This map is more a kind of a play and test ground.

For a first impression, I've created a few pictures.

All objects that can be seen in this pictures were placed with the XCam.

Amazing! At last we will be able to modify maps in a more extensive way!

Post-apo lovers, here come roads and buildings covered with vegetation!:y:

Wow, looks really good. $64K question... is it a releasable map or is this placed in the editor in some way i.e. non-binarised game objects for Screenies only ?

Great work Silola!

That is the fidelity I need for my Ronau terrain (Harz mountains, middle germany).

Silola wrote somewhere, that X-Cam can export files to a TB-Import file... so all you can see is probably already terrain placed or can be imported on a terrain.

Hi,

thank you guys :-)

@serjames:

This map is a "normal" Arma 3 map. Only the method of object placement is different.

But there is also the possibility to save object creations as a script file for use within a mission.

As NeoA said, all objects are already imported in the terrain.

Silola

Hi Silola,

Your project looks really good - How fast is it for you to populate a map compared to doing it the normal way in Visitor?

(Based on the screenies you posted up).

Hi,

this is very hard to say, because I myself only work very rarely with TB. But that is changing at the latest when several people work together with the X-Cam.

This is not only fun, but is very effective. But to work with the X-Cam means, you are working on many details, and this is again time intensiv :p

This looks cool. The trees and grass make the world feel so much nicer. I always thought the new engine made things feel dryer and hotter for some reason.

I just have a few questions about X-Cam.

1: Is it for creating maps, like exporting them into their own mod so they are playable in game?

2: Or is it just for placing objects and units in game for a mission?
