So either enjoy Arma at 50 fps (pretty good I think) or play Arma on a desktop machine with a fast CPU (at least 3 GHz, better +3.5, ideally 4+ GHz).

Yes I am playing with a Laptop. The FPS is not bad to be honest I just want to make it stable . I'm getting around 50-60FPS with my preferred custom settings. however the FPS drop were notorious. the lowest I saw was 22 during war.. 24 FPS avg with Yet Another Arma Benchmark. 

 

 

 

Anyway @dwarden how do I download the new custom malloc? My arma 3 apex version is V.162. I can't update it because we downgraded our internet from 50Mbps to 1Mbps(120KBps download speed). due to a budget.

Thats what I mean, is there even a -hugepages parameter? I didn't know that.

-enableHT seems to be pointed at intel CPUs with Hyper Threaded capabilities. (I think I read that somewhere?) Considering I'm AMD I'm not sure if it would help my performance. 

 

Thats what I mean, how can we know any of it works? Who knows better than the developers themselves, if they just make a wiki page on tips for performance they'd probably be the first.

 

EDIT: Didn't see developers response. All is automated apparantly, so I guess we can quit the launch parameters.

With all this testing, is there anything I can try to improve my performance and help out the team

 

Comp:

I7 4770K OC 4.1g

32gig Crucial Ballistic Memory XMP

GTX 780TI

SSD 500gb

Win 10 64bit

 

Currently,

No launch parameters

No mods

Stable Branch

 

Average FPS gaming 28-35

Graphics settings are "medium"

 

I do suffer from 3FPS bug after 60-120 min of gaming.

1.66.140235 new PROFILING branch with PERFORMANCE binaries, v14, server and client, windows/linux
+ new fix for issues on Linux server with too many PBO (unable to connect to afterward)
+ tweaks for server.cfg settings: maxPing, MaxDesync, MaxPacketloss (better median etc.)

is there a reason, why you never answer to the 3fps bug (me or anybody else)? this thing is killing the game right now.

But does this mean it also supports AMD CPUs? It isn't listed nor documented.

Hyperthreading is an Intel technology... so no.

Repro of 3fps is hard.
If you want I can send you a coop mission or you can join our mission. It usually happens after long game play. So around 1-2 hours of game play fps goes to bottom.
just info, game has several mods. If you are looking for no mod case, then I cannot help

as I said earlier, I really dont want to upset or criticize you... :)

 

and please, dont get upset again: how can we get you the repro or what exactly do you mean? just point me in the direction (or the correct forum thread, support ticket or whatever) and we will try to help.

 

this error occurs a lot on our exile taunus server. on altis, it doesnt happen so often, but it happens...

But the thing is, Taunus us not their map is it. Or Exile is not something they made. Nor are the missions etc etc..

But this problem has been there for years. The bigger the map, or the more stuff on it will make this happen faster and more frequent.

 

Go fly on Taunus with a heli. You will have it happen in 10-15min, if it's on Exile at least. Don't know how it is in the editor.

 

Thing is, when a mod comes out they make it work. Then another Arma update comes and breaks it. Then it gets fixed to work, then another update. One long cycle.

Think i have 7200 hours on it now, but since the 1.66 update it has gotten less and less enjoyable. To the point of i am not getting any Arma 4 if it is made.

If you want a more vanilla mission for this error to happen, Play any "King of the Hill" server. Ive noticed that I get it less with the JEMalloc memory allocator however its still there and very much a pain to deal with.

those were the times when Ondrej still debugged together with the CIT team such grave and widespread issues like the 3 FPS until it was fixed

Well it seems something happens when the map is used in Exile.. Have now tested it in the editor for almost an hour. With a heli flying around. No problems what so ever.

But there seems to alot more objects in the Exile servers as well. Will try again on a server to see. I am testing without a page file now though.

Well every server is different. I went to an area after almost 1 hours of flying in a heli. And there were lots of buildings not there that i am used to at that area.

But just the objects should not be at fault. Tried again now, and around 30min in it happens again. 

 

Maybe it is because of Exile or Cup terrains somehow. Sucks just the map works fine for 1 hour flying around in the editor, but takes 10-15min only to happen in exile.

Well it happens on Tanoa to if there are a lot of players on, and many bases all over the place. But maybe only once in a 3 hour period.
