Gameovercast Gamescom 2012 exclusive interview... questions?

Hello fellow Arma Fans!

I am part of the GameOverCast.co.uk, an enthusiast video gaming podcast. We are going to Gamescom this week and have been lucky enough to get a chance to see Arma3 and will be hoping to interview members of the development team.

All of the Gameovercast presenters are massive Arma fans (it’s been a fight over who gets this interview slot) so we have plenty to ask but with the recent announcements and we would love to put some questions directly from the fans so if you have any do post them here and we will do our best to ask as many of them as we can - I will post a link to the podcast with the interview when we get back next week.

Will physx make posible to shoot/walk from inside moving vehicles?

Will physx improve collision detection and/or help fix clipping issues?

I would like to know if there will be any improvements made to damage model - for example after IED, if we will see flying tires/doors/other parts of vehicles or something similiar. I think you know what I mean. :)

I'd like to know if there are plans for subtle changes to the AI, like detection and reaction to killed comrades, reaction to nearby gunfire and proper usage of secondary weaponry (both for infantry and vehicles).

Its like they are avoiding to talk about the AI in ArmA 3.

Questions:

-Will planes get an updated flight model like the helicopters?

-Will there be support for 6 degrees of freedom for TrackIR (as with TakeOnHelis)

Maybe cos its not finished yet....!?!?!?

There's still quite a lot of time before release and AI is one of the hardest things to do. So we'll only know how good it is at the end.

How will fixed wing aircraft be imporved in Arma 3? Will there be better, more realistic means of using missles and bombs? Will there be Render to Texture displays in cockpits?

Will vehicles be given proper radar and radar-evading technologies?

Is physX improving the damage-to-armor simulation?

Will the AI have any ability to dectect mines/tripwires and disarm them if it is possible to do so in the game?

If a player (or object) falls on top of another soldier can that soldier be killed? (Maybe even brake the fall of the player who fell on him if the height was just right?)

Will proper rocket ballistics be implemented?

If you can fast rope from helicopters can you rappell down buildings?

Can the waves of the Aegean get so stormy that boats can be capsized by them?

Will the player be able to bury mines below the ground-surface if wants to take more time?

Will dead bodies float if they don't have a certain amount of gear?

When a something (like a body or a box) falls off of a roof will the sound attract some AI to investigate?

Will scopes like the Hybrid Sight (where the magnified piece can flip up in front of a red dot/holographic sight to aid ranged combat or be flipped down and to the side for normal CQB functionality of the red dot/holo sight) be possible/available?

Will the campaign be easier to understand and more fast-paced for newcomers than it was in previous ArmA games?

How has the Dedicated server EXE been improved to have better Multi-Core CPU load distribution abilities ?

Is there going to be a DVD or is it going to be all Down-Loadable ?

This is a very MOD friendly game, is there going to be an in-built Mod management/downloading capability ? or is Play with Six the future ?

Can you guys please check the targetting system,whether it's still TAB lock or any improvements on that !

Will .50 cal or higher caliber bullets tear people to pieces :D ?

Hi,

leading up to Arma 2 we were told of the AI's new micro pathfinding which involves very precise infantry pathfinding and behaviour -leaning out of corners etc.. Can we get any specific information on similar enhancements being planned regarding AI infantry?

I want to know if the dev's are getting a kick out of working on/with features unique to Arma3, has it been more fun to work on than other Bohemia Interactive titles.

The vehicle path finding has suffered a lot in previous games. Can you ask if they have done something to improve it in ArmA 3?

Devs have mentioned improved PvP but nothing specific or even vague for that matter, lol. What can we expect at launch for MP greatness straight out of the box?

Why BI isn't using the Micro-AI from VBS 2? it has really good path-finding and good cover and cooperation with each other which will provide more fun and challenge against AI and better gameplay playing with AI as leader or leading the AI overall.

If the mission editor will be more (entrance-level) user-friendly, with more menus and click/drag and less need for scripts and a large number of files in the mission folder even for the most basic stuff.

  • How moddable PhsyX 3.x will be ? (since its a 3rd party software...)
  • Static\mounted in vechicles weapons vs animations ? (Haven't see anything on videos, except for the early boat\water demo)
  • Somekind of inertia for foot soldiers after running, turning and so on?
  • 2D editor enhancements, what is? Things like odules'>this?

EDIT:

  • Oh yeah, granades are usefull this time? They can be thrown\lobbed and on the move?
  • Aiming down the sights have a different animations from just hoding your rifle?
