Just looked up the part about the alpha being delayed. Paraphrased from Lord Buchta:

We will be releasing more information on the alpha after E3. But I can safely say we will have to postpone it, partly because the PhysX needs to be properly tuned.

(He says that just as the vehicle comically flips over the rocks. xD)

So the delayed alpha is pretty much confirmed.
