jw custom 56 Posted August 4, 2011 Listen to the first 25 seconds and not knowing what ArmA is you would think it was a porn movie :p Thanks for the interview, very nice :)
mrcash2009 0 Posted August 4, 2011 Interesting part about DLC and using user content, I can think of a small few of major map content makers getting contracted into that, I hope they do too, without naming names to be biased :) I was wondering if the no small island "thing" might be down to leaving that to DLC? I would prefer BIS to at least release a small island, not really about loading times (I use the no island flag so nothing loads anyway) but as mentioned here already its nice to have a small play area for mission testing and mission demo's, in fact Utes in Arma2 was great for that. So I hope BIS take note to include some basic small terrain, I cant see how taking some basic content of lemnos and moulding a Utes size island would be that much of a time killer. Flash Thunder 10 Posted August 5, 2011 I wouldnt want an Arma 4 for at least 10 years aswell, BIS could really work on alot in that time period especially different IPs and engine work. Plus I would like to see a2 and arma 3 get alot of attention, DLCs and expansion packs. Waiting for the hardware to come down and price and to further advance aswell. metalcraze 290 Posted August 5, 2011 BIS can always make expansions so it will be like a single massive game getting more and more massive

kylania 568 Posted August 5, 2011 BIS can always make expansions so it will be like a single massive game getting more and more massive The only problem with that is the DLCs they release were nice, but missing major factors. BAF was notably missing tanks and special forces. PMC rehashed a lot of existing weapons instead of adding something new. The line BIS always falls back on, and is continuing to use for ArmA3 is that they develop for the campaign. BAF had no tanks since it was a light quick reaction force. There won't be an intro island since the campaign is happening on Lemnos. I don't think anyone plays the campaign over and over again for years, but they do play co-op and MP for years. I'd really like to see them design as a complete toolbox rather than a "just what we needed to get the campaign done" amount of content. An ArmA3 DLC of the full order of battle for British Units and vehicles combat and non combat and buildings for instance for $20 instead of $10 for a small selection. sabre4809 0 Posted August 5, 2011 BAF had no tanks I thought since it was replicating 16th Air Assault Brigade to an extent, which has no MBTs.
mrcash2009 0 Posted August 5, 2011 (edited) I agree with Flash Thunder, overwhelmed with bran newness in complete games too close is a bit much considering the life span we have of A2/OA/DLC falling into A3 & then what comes later with that. The only problem with that is the DLCs they release were nice, but missing major factors.True in some ways but BAF was the best I think out of them. Then again its happened and im pretty sure BIS would scope the best approach next time around with what we would want, it was of course a new business model for them in Arma this first time around. Also the fact that Ivan mentioned user made content (maps mainly) considered in DLC releases later, so we could get some very well tailored content. ScratcH1 10 Posted August 5, 2011 They can always make expansions in the size of Operation Arrowhead. That would be totally awesome if they make 2 or even 3 addons for ArmA3. Imagine with how many nations we get to play with.
metalcraze 290 Posted August 5, 2011 That's exactly what I want. They can do an expansion per year and it will be pretty swell
elmas 10 Posted August 5, 2011 I cant imagine Arma II without OA, imo s the best thing that could happen to the game. BAF, even missing some things like tanks, was pretty good, so if done correctly, DLC and addons can add alot to the game.
mrcash2009 0 Posted August 5, 2011 I suppose in a way you could have after Lemnos .. back to desert / Winter / Full Woodland & so on. I would deff welcome a OA size "expansion" after A3 and then the smaller DLC packs, I think that worked out pretty well without overloading too much. You have surrounding areas on real world map from Lemnos some pretty decent desert areas to "move to for the next front of the story".

kylania 568 Posted August 5, 2011 BAF had no tanks I thought since it was replicating 16th Air Assault Brigade to an extent, which has no MBTs. My point exactly. However it was titled British Armed Forces DLC not 16th Air Assault Brigade DLC. :) The content was just enough for the story of the single player campaign/scenarios. It was a hell of a value! Remarkably high quality units, super fun and challenging campaign and scenarios. In every way one of the best BIS products to date. However I'd gladly have paid twice the price for the full British army instead of just selected units. Campaigns used to be amazing methods of teaching us how to use the editor and scripting tricks. But since DLC is now encrypted and we can't really poke around to see how BIS does things anymore so that usefulness is now over. (Yes, I know about common, but it's not the same.) I guess what I'm saying is that non-story-driven more full army DLC might be a good direction instead of limited content wrapped around a story DLC. DLC that's aimed at giving multiplayer units more toys to play with would be great. Or mix it up with both. Also BIS is starting the step into the future to get away from "your screw heads on this side panel are wrong" type complaints about current day content so focusing on entirely current content might become a pain. Oh well, just ideas. :)
elmas 10 Posted August 6, 2011 Considering that the editor is probably the most important feature of the game for many people, incomplete factions certanly hinder their "usefulness" for certain mission ideas. BAF has no planes, tanks, etc. PMC had the bare minimun imo. PD. thanks for the interview and youtube upload.
viper[cww] 14 Posted August 6, 2011 (edited) However I'd gladly have paid twice the price for the full British army instead of just selected units. Just the British Army or all of the Armed Forces we have? if so that'll be a whole new game as there is a sh!t load of stuff we have :) BAF has no planes, tanks, etc. PMC had the bare minimun imo. No disrespect to BIS, but I think they planned to do the bare minimum they could get away with.... doesn't mean I'm not enjoying what they gave us though, if you haven't had it in the first place you wont miss it.... the community has more then filled the gaps with armour and planes etc way before they had the idea of the BAF DLC. :) Edited August 6, 2011 by VIPER[CWW]
metalcraze 290 Posted August 6, 2011 I really hope there will be no DLCs for ArmA3 2x2km maps, a few weapons, a soldier model or two and an APC? Mods do 10x times better. No sorry do a proper expansion
