Perhaps Airborne troops dropping into Switzerland since it would be hard for Armor to get them in the mountains. Iceland is a key place in the book Red Storm Rising by Tom Clancy which is about World War III. Not entirely sure why things like Corsica and Sicily are so important or the other islands in the north-west Mediterranean.
