Lets keep the Russians and make them as an invading force of the United States, have there be a new map like suburban neighborhood. You play as the Army National Guard and have to go through a campaign of regaining control of the country. The Independents will be armed U.S. citizens or militia.

(Invading force can be China instead)

Anyone else agree my idea sounds good?

I can improve this by saying we should play as schoolkids... and when the "Commies" Parachute into our playgrounds you have to run off into the woods and start up a guerilla force called hmmmm THE WOLVERINES!.. and then later on in the campain the Russians send a hind after you ..... But this is the twist... ITS ACTUALLY A PUMA IN DISGUISE!!!

At the end when we free U.S.A we get a memorial built to remember how we valiantly faught those damned reds off!!

Nah lets leave this ridiculous scenario to 80's movies and Freedom fighters ( Wich was one of my favourite games). Or Mod teams!

I'd like to see Russia return but as blufor. Cause they're always shown as bad guys invading everything and than America have to rescue the world. That's boring and not nice for russians...

Yes. :p I know that Poland and Russia didn't have too good history together, but I believe, that now we're on a good way to become friends. And I've met few russians and they were really nice, I've been to Russia as well.

BLUFOR =! Good guys.

It means friendly forces. And not a whole lot of armies fight for the sake of being evil. Maybe Cobra's army do..

You know there are a whole load of decent armies who can field a combined arms force out there.

Plenty with intresting kit.

But er...

I like the Russians.

And I like the Cold War as a scenario too.

I really would love to see something South American based. It's really never been done before and would add alot of new and exotic weapons and units. :)

A new South American styled terrain would be epic aswell.

Anyone else with me on this?

Well that did sorta spark it, but it would really be awesome to see some BIS content based on South America, units, weapons, terrain. It's something new and fresh..

I just think it would be very cool.

I would prefer something snowy and mountainous. Think like a fictional modern Korean conflict with terrain based on North Korea.

Actually Dragon44 and his team made\reskined some SA units for A1. For A2, only made a reskin for the Brazilian Marines. Don´t know whats he been up to now...

Some of the A1 units:

UN Troops

A4: http://www.armapoint.com/dta/images/news/A4_04.jpg

Colombians: http://www.armapoint.com/dta/images/news/ejercito_01.jpg

An there is more, but all for A1.

It would be fictional if NK was beefed up a lot more and the country wasn't so beat up and lacking in resources. North Korea as the new OPFOR, with South Korea as the new BLUFOR, and possibly Russia + China added as Independents would make for interesting storyline. The addition of both sides would throw in new everything, and would make sense for US/UK to be there.

South Korea would be issued K1 Carbines and K2 rifles, and to keep up with the current modernized theme they could also have the Daewoo K11 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daewoo_K11) which is the SK version of the American OICW that is actually entering service. There MBT's would be the K1A1 and K2 Black Panther, APC's would be K21 IFV's and BMP3's, the rest mostly being SK variants of current US vehicles.

North Korea would be backed by the Chinese, using most of there current real life equipment such as QBZ-95's, while the Chinese in game (keeping up with the close future theme) will be given the QBZ-03 rifle and maybe fictionalized versions of newer tanks? If not stick to the current vehicle arsenal, but update a lot of the cold war era vehicles that the PLA uses with new technologies like they are actually doing today.

Russians will simply be updated to OA standards and maybe given some newer close future weaponry/vehicles/equipment. They'll be a little more friendly to BLUFOR campaign wise. US forces would pretty much stay the same except be given the same Desert/Woodland selection BAF has. I'm going to keep pushing for British forces to be filled out and added into the storyline somehow.

As for South America, or anything jungle like for that matter, I'm against. I just don't like the idea of it and I feel like it might be a performance issue for a lot of people of people on low end systems, kind of in the way Chernarus was/still kind of is. That's just what I think though. From my experience mountains have made the game harder to play and enjoy. We get all these vehicles but they have a hell of a time navigating through/over them, helicopters seem to miscalculate them sometimes and crash into them which completely ruins a lot of missions I've made (no matter how much I try and tweak it). It also makes landing zones for helicopters tough, you have to find that right amount of flat space for them to drop troops off and not clip the tail rotor or something that ends up knocking it out of the sky. If there's a map with a lot more flat area, and ridges within the mountains etc, then I would be completely okay with it.

A conflict between North and South Korea sounds good, I would defiantly vote for it.

With North Korea = OPFOR, China and/or Russia = Independent; and South Korea (along with some US/UN/BAF allies) as BLUFOR

But the conflict mustn’t start with a huge invasion by the North or a nuclear war. Maybe the North could shell a South Korean Island and the South scramble jets …….. oh wait… :h:

How bout creating an endless waves of mindless PLA grunts, tanks, plane coming towards you and your fireteam of ONLY 4 or 5, with endless ammunition cache just right beside you so you could kill them all and call it REALISTIC fun....? hmmm..

I still think that the "Independence Lost" campaign that BIA was working on prior to VBS1 (around 2002-03 IIRC) would be a good concept for an expansion- the ADF vs. Indonesian military in a conflict over East Timor would be an interesting way of having two regional powers with a mix of western and eastern equipment fighting each other.

Id'e like to see Russia return with new equipment and played as the good guys in the campaign.

This would also be good, especially if there were some variations of eastern weapons with western sights (like an EOTech-equipped Pecheneg or Aimpoints on AK-series rifles) that have been showing up in the hands of FSB special operations soldiers.

Such scenarios give no fun at all. What about trailing down Bigfoot for 4 hours in the deep woods until you get a shot at it.

Comment by the creator of the ArmA 2 page on facebook....

ARMA 2 Shh.. now, keep it under your hat, but,

I wouldn't be surprised to see

American, English, Scottish, and Australian..

- including full protocols.

Interesting. I like the idea of Australia in game, I said when I started the thread somewhere that I would even like to see them as OPFOR. A lot of there equipment is already in game, just needs some tweaks and retextures...

Realistic:

Just about every NATO country versus North Korea. Do I need to remind you of the recent shellings?

Little less realistic:

Russia versus rogue American general intent on proving the US is the best military force by invading the RF (mw2ripofflol)

In addition, I think that the pirates would be a good idea. Somalia is way underestimated when it comes to guerilla warfare.
