  1. 1. What are the most important sounds for you while using JSRS?

    • The weapon sounds!
    • The vehicle sounds!
    • Environmental sounds!
    • Explosions, Soniccracks, Bullethits, the sound of danger!
    • The script features like the "distance sounds"!
    • Everything combined! The whole Mod itself is important.

I do have ArmA 2 also, but when I play on a Chernaurus map, it crashes saying "Cannot load world "" "

EDIT:

Downloaded M1N's suggested launcher, and from what I can tell so far, all works fine. Thanks!

Take a look in the Options.

In the bottom left croner you can choose start as "Arma 2" or "Arma 2 OA"

If you select OA, it normaly start it as CO, if you have installed the game correct... (do you use Steam??)

Take a look under the Tank Picture in the launcher, there you have some

index-tabs:

Start; Options; Mods; Profiles; Settings; About

If you change something in options, dont forget to save it (klick the disk, in the bottom left corner)

In Profiles you can add, or delete profiles. So you can choose quickly which mods you want to start

(dropdown menu, also in the bottom left corner)

But, if you make a new profile, you have to save the selected mods and options again.

I hope you get it xd

btw: It means Binary. B1n4ry is leetspeak ;D (1337)

JSRS Update 1.4.2 has been released!

I can finally present the update for JSRS in version 1.4.2. The Mainthings are:

Changelog 1.4.2

• Changed: Volume of all radomly played SFX sounds

• Changed: Increased volume of some stereo environment sounds

• Changed: Reworked all distance weapon sounds for more life like sounding

• Changed: Increased distance for distance weapon sounds

• Changed: Reworked the sounds of passing or moving through brunches

• Changed: Increased distance for distance helicopter sounds

• Changed: Deleted annoying dog and chicken sounds

• Added: Added an script entry for automatic vehicle spawning (dummy vehicle)

• Added: Added new Script: dummy_vehicle.sqf

• Changed: The allowable distance for distancesounds was further restricted! (More Performance)

• Changed: The #particlesource will be deleted after the sound has been played (no memory leak anymore)

• Added: Soldier hit sounds, soldiers screaming and hurt sounds

• Added: Optional weapon sounds for testing. These are just to serve my own taste!!!!!!!!!!

* This mean, you dont have to put an vehicle on the map anymore! The script will add an invisible vehicle by itself (thanks to psycho). Also there is no memory leak anymore, so more smooth gameplay after serveral minutes of firefights.

OPTIONALS

On this page, I will name all optional stuff I made for you to play with. I made it optional, since many people like the way JSRS is right now. So changing things the way I did will cause trouble for some. So thatswhy I make optional stuff in future. When things are so good and liked by most JSRS User, it will be implemented into the normal mod.

Since I had a change to get the hands on some awesome fieldrecordings, also some of them made by myself, I just wanted to use these samples to get some more realistic sounding inside a game situation. The following things are mostly changed to a more realistic soundfeeling in a combat situation. But I assure you that nothing sounds so real like it really does in reallife. So if you ever heard some of these guns, dont tell me they sounds this and that different, I know they do! We just cant make them sound as real as they do in reallife, so dont even compare them to it! I noticed that a lot while filming and hearing real weapons. A weapon sounds so much different when standing behind it, compared with standing in front of it! Just the change of perspective, even a few centimeters makes an audible difference!

Alright, now the things I added as an otional:

WIP CONENT: These things are getting changed maybe.

Rifles:

AK47, AKM, AK74, AK74S, AK74GL, AK107, PKM, M240, M249, M4, M4A1, M4CCO, M4AIM, M4A3, G36A

Here is the main download link.

Installation:

Using the Modfolder Method to install this mod, please read Armaholic’s easy to follow FAQ for a clear explanation:

http://www.armaholic.com/plug.php?e=faq&q=18

Just replace your @JSRS1.4 folder with the one inside this patch. The optional files are in the optional folder and can be activated by overwriting theire counterparts inside the AddOns folder.

Updated Readme! Please read for some more information about the installation.

At least, be aware of multiple changes to the script system in future. We are trying to provide distant explosion sounds aswell. Also the distant sounds may not 100% real or even not unfinished.

So, I wish you all alot of fun with this update!

Thanks,

Jarhead

Interesting point about perception of sounds. Like you say, sounds are very different based on where you are relative to the source and environmental factors. There's also factors like harmonic resonance, constructive/destructive interference and sympathy (not the emotion) to take into account.

I like the approach you have though so that the sounds are balanced relative to each other. It would sound more disparate if each sound was recorded on it's own merits and not considered how they fit into the overall scheme.

I've done a bit of studio work and study music theory (more the physics of sound) so it's really good to see these things considered.

It all seems very balanced in JSRS :)

after quicktest:

- aircraft engine are still on/active after it crashed

+ maybe cut this engine sound out with explosion?

- SD weapon sound is too low in close range 0-15m

+ just make them more audible in close range

- footsteps (environment) sounds could be a bit louder

error message

Warning Message: Sound Sniper1_far not found

Warning Message: Sound Sniper1_mid not found

Further test will be done asap. Keep up the good work and dont get angry about BIS soundengine (cross fingers for something better in all upcoming BIS games). :)

Updated on Six Updater Network.

2yvv67o.png Direct Download | Mod info

I hope you know, you need both patches! JSRS 1.4, then 1.4.1, and then 1.4.2 otherwise there will be missing content. I say this because the Armaholic pages tells me "J.S.R.S. Soundmod Patch #1" which is wrong!

I also would suggest you delete all other JSRS stuff like the 1.3 updates which is still in your downloadsection. Just to avoid inconsistencies and over again that there are emerging news of missing content. Please help me to prevent this. Its not good to have 10 mirrors providing 3 different versions.

Thanks so much for mirroring this at all! I really appreciate you work here.

I have added a new mirror for the additional patch 1. I did check your post and I checked the readme and nowhere did you state the previous patch was still required. So, I guessed it was no longer needed. Feel free to add next time previous patches are still required so I cant make this kind of mistakes :)

I have also removed all your old releases, I will make them redirect to your Soundmod so we dont have dead links.

Thanks for your continued work. It sounds truly fantastic!

I made a quick mission to demo 1.4.2. Nothing special, just some squads with waypoints. HF:
