That's exactly where you are wrong. 'A lot' can't happen, because they have the game design ironed out, and will hardly sit down and rework the entire development plan.

It's not an indie company that can take the time they want to make the game they want. This is a company which works for the suits, and the suits don't like waiting for their money. It'll be a tight schedule, and I don't doubt the posts about the budget cuts for RR and it being a rushed no-content version of DR. I wouldn't trust much money to such a fail-studio either after DR.

After seeing how much work CM devs (can) put into a game (i.e. their F1 games), and with the fact the devs are actually posting on the forums now (not like before) and with Helios saying we're gonna get alot more info (once it hits Alpha stage)

Im going to wait for gameplay (which will come after the pre-rendered videos)

Still, It might actually end up being a good game.

I never said that. I was saying that CM DO let their dev-team do what they like, and DO give them freedom, they're not always "under the suits". They're free to use the community and add things in that they please... mostly.

So, with that in mind, im going to give the RR dev team a chance.

With all due respect, I doubt that seriously. DR was an enormous fail for all old OFP fans. By stripping Red River of what was left of DR it will getting only worse. Heck, DR had nothing whatsoever to do with the old OFP CWC nor will RR when it's finished.

Weeeell, I kinda promised myself i'd stay out of this, buuuut from my source in cm ( btw i'm the guy who announced on the DR forums that cm would be dropping all support for DR long before Helios was cleared to "release it" ) has told me a few things about the new game and a bunch of other stuff:

1. The development budget for RR has been slashed and the team told to reuse whatever assets there are already available ( read re-skins and more "focused" gameplay ( or is that cut features )...ahem ;D). Expect a poor mans version of BFBFC2 et al.

2. Sion got demoted from producer to "creative director" to save some face.

3. The cm folk ( no matter what the public face has to say ) are/were really pissed at templar showing them up. I've been told that "narcissistic dickhead" was one term that was used, though I can't verify that and should be taken as heresay or opinion.

4.One of the reasons why there is no Mission Editor, refer to 3. There is no way they would want a better game made by enthusiasts building upon existing work. Maybe DLC but not decided yet. The "uncoupling" excuse was pure bullshit.

On side notes and public information "Black" will departing cm after bodycount after a major internal bustup ( he's only sticking around because of contractual obligations ) and can't wait to leave ( from all accounts ).

The Jumpgate mmo has bombed and is now shelfware.

Turbine will take back the LOTR ip license from cm in less than 2 years ( something they can't wait to happen ).

And yes my "source" is already looking for other jobs.

The engine is piece of crap, designed with a different purpose in mind. They have realistic weather and rain in F1, they won't in RR (even using the same engine)...

The community...oh give me a break please. The RR community is formed out of teenagers(around 25 heads or so) who are watching youtube for military reference, and act as Marine wannabes.

Obviously you are allowed to ingurgitate any lies they are selling.

With that theory then, Ben, the dev team for RR chose not to include a mission editor, they chose not to have mod tools, and they chose to remove free roam. All of which staples of the OFP franchise, and they're supposed to be making an OFP game. Does that really sound like these guys should be given the freedom of choice when making these games? Hypothetically, who's to say that if the suits did step in, in your theory, the game might actually resemble OFP?

Their choices, if your theory is correct, are what is ruining this game, yet you still have hope in them. I don't understand it, just like pufu here.

But seriously, what concrete information are you so excited about? To me, it appears they have dumbed down an already pretty-dumb DR and are repackaging it as RR.

Understood but I dont know if you where here for the last round of CM goodyness. Its exactly the same - "wait for the game! It might be awesome!"

Most would agree that CM fooled many people so of course skeptimism runs high -especially here, the birthplace of OFP. So without anything concrete to add to the discussion, "it might be good", doesn't mean a whole lot around here.
