@ nordnik - Merry Christmas to you and you don't need to download the DLC. It is automatically downloaded as PART of the current build of ARMA 3. All you did by purchasing was enable you to use and play with the content. You can check just by launching ARMA 3, open the EDITOR and see if you can load up the map TANOA. That is part of Apex. If you can, you "own" APEX DLC already. Now you can play any APEX enabled mods, missions or on any server (so long as you also have any other required mods). Go online and play the Tanoa coop mission on Bis official servers. Great Christmas COOP fun.

Reporting on 64 bit Performance update - Same settings as before, played this mission below with ACE3 64bit, Blastcore Edited, Dynasound, Environmental Effects, Headgore, Bloodlust, and few other mods: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=313125974&searchtext=ufo Died, repeated, died, repeated, died, ran YAAB to precache files, re-ran YAAB via the in mission menu AGAIN option, then crashed with memory error. I had almost 20+ GB free at that time. Will see I can run some more controlled testing but so far had zero crashes with the current 64bit dev build.

TPW MODS: enhanced realism and immersion for Arma 3 SP.
Valken replied to tpw's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
@ redarmy Yes Fireflies work. Just tested it on Altis, Stratis and the Pandora user map from Steam Workshop which was where I originally made my request. You have to wait after 30 mins from Sunset and be near trees for it to spawn. Works great in 64bit BTW. Seems much smoother to me despite a lower FPS vs 32bit. Make sure you have copied the "userconfig" folder with the "twp_mods" folder inside from the @tpw_mod folder INTO the root "ARMA 3" folder. There are settings there that would enable and allow you to adjust the functions. Also make sure you have ticked "enabled filepatching" under PARAMETERS, ADVANCE to use those functions. More installation details here as per the very first post: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/481663/docs/tpw_mods_readme.txt- 5767 replies

[Release] Addon-Free ArmA Radio
Valken replied to phronk's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Awesome! Love the TFAR mod but even better that it gives the effects for the built in radio. Any chance to enable AI's to have this effect when calling out targets or communicating with in game teams in SP or coop games? -
You can push boats back into the water with this mod: I have seen and used variations of this on Escape servers when the boats become stuck and bank on the shores. Give it a try and see if it works.

Will-my-pc-run-Arma3? What cpu/gpu to get? What settings? What system specifications?
Valken replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
The server cpu is slower than your system and ARMA syncs both clients and server to roughly around the same FPS. Nothing you can do except goto another server. You can test this just by changing to another server with less people or closer to your network and you will see better performance. I play on servers about 6000 miles away with no issues yet can lag out even if someone starts a COOP game locally close to me. -

Sudden FPS Drop after 30-60 Minutes Issue + Solution
Valken replied to johnnypope's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
Make sure your windows swap file is on auto and the HD is defragged. Other than that, switch to 64 bit dev edition and that should fix the ram issue so long as you have 8 GB or more ram with nothing else running. -
Will-my-pc-run-Arma3? What cpu/gpu to get? What settings? What system specifications?
Valken replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Get a bigger SSD and put both the OS and ARMA on it. All other games on the HDD. Get the FASTEST ram you can buy and OC the cpu because ARMA is based on cpu calculations and how fast it can pull assets from and to ram. I suggest DDR4-3000 or faster. That is the best you can do for ARMA. The GPU can be scaled to your screen resolution. I think a Geforce 1060 6 GB is enough for 1920x1080, while a 1070 for 2560x1440 and 1080 or faster for 4K at ultra settings. Don't skimp out and buy those cheaper GPU with less ram as it affects your draw distance. -
Unplayable multiplayer on decent/high end rig
Valken replied to randomhunterdude's topic in ARMA 3 - TROUBLESHOOTING
OC your cpu. I have a Haswell 4790K @ 4.5 GHZ all cores and before that i5-750 @ 4.2 GHZ all cores. ARMA is mainly cpu based so it needs all the cpu it can get and because it is mostly single threaded when it comes to AI, you need more speed to enjoy the game. Online, it is because of the SERVER CPU being overloaded or not fast enough for the mission that YOU the client slows down. It is synchronized to the server FPS. If you slow down online, yet your offline game play is good, find another server. There is no way around this until the ARMA AI becomes fully multithreaded to take advantage of modern cpus.- 20 replies

I have this problem playing some previously made user missions with this revice code and the fix was to use the ARMA 3 ingame revive system by: Remove these code from the init.sqf file: call compile preprocessFile "=BTC=_revive\=BTC=_revive_init.sqf"; Remove these code from the description.ext file: Respawn = 3; RespawnDelay = 4; #include "=BTC=_revive\=BTC=_respawn.h" and replace with following code into the 'description.ext' file: respawn = 3; respawnDelay = 15; respawnTemplates[] = {"Revive", "MenuPosition"}; respawnOnStart = -1; Reference post: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=433087813&insideModal=1 Thought I would share this.

Did some more testing last night. Parameters at default so the EXE can select best ram settings. Tested this mission from beginning to end with ACE3, Blastcore Edited, Laxmann Dynasound and Environment Effects, and required mods (mainly clothing). http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=310629400&searchtext=ufo With 32 bit dev build, I would run out of memory half way into the mission AFTER seeing the Scientist (mission 2) and get terrible LOD errors without textures. It looks like playing Operation Flashpoint on the lowest settings. Ran it 4 times, same results. With 64 bit, I finished the mission on the first try with no issues. Definitely smoother especially when transition between LODs and streaming in assets. You can see it when driving from objective to objective. System - Win 7 64 Pro, 32 GB 2400 DDR3 RAM, AMD 6970 2 GB unlocked CFX, Game and OS on SSD. My settings due to my 5+ year old gpu: Everything on LOW except: Textures - Ultra Objects - Standard Terrain - Standard Water Shader - Ultra Particles - High or Very high Anistropic filtering - Ultra 3800 view distance 3800 object distance Blur, DOF - OFF AA - OFF completely including FXAA and SMAA

Arma 3 STABLE Server 2.18 "profiling / performance binary" feedback

Swapfile is enabled, auto, on c drive which is on SSD. I will try to move it to my second SSD and see if that helps. might be fragmentation. -
Arma 3 STABLE Server 2.18 "profiling / performance binary" feedback
Valken replied to Dwarden's topic in ARMA 3 - SERVERS & ADMINISTRATION
@ Dwarden - I had been meaning to ask so here goes: My specs Win 7 x64 Pro, 32 GB DDR3-2400 CL10 RAM, 4.5 GHZ Haswell OC'ed, AMD 6950 CFX unlocked, game and OS on SSD. During 1.60 performance testing, I had good performance up to the 6th to 7th test. From 8th-9th patch and on, I started getting memory leak errors which would drop me down to less than 5 FPS, and all the models LOD down to the basic one (looked like OFP) but without textures then either lockup or crash out. Same for 1.66 RC. Then I switched to Dev 1.67 and STILL have this problem in 32 bit, even with maxmem set to 3 GB. I just switched to 64 bit and it seems better but wanted to ask if 1.67 DEV 32 bit will incorporate the memory leak fixes? or can I apply these patches to 1.67 dev or at least the memory allocator? -
Are you using any mouse acceleration software from a 3rd party? IF so, try to disable ALL of it. Some of those may not be 64 bit or just betas. Even though I use a Logitech MX Revolution (love this mouse), I ONLY use the default windows mouse drivers. I have mouse smoothing turned OFF under controls in ARMA also. Try that.

FYI - BETA 64 BIT DLLs here: Put the dlls INTO the mod folder eg: @ACE3 or whatever the steam folder is. It needs to be right next to the older 32bit dll files. Same for Task Force Radio! I tested ACE3 in 64 bit last night! Works like a champ and the 64 bit does help with stuttering. Hope I can find a better 64 bit graphics driver for my aging gpu but in actual game play, maybe 5 FPS difference but my min frames feel smoother overall with the same settings. Will try to increase the object and terrain detail up to ultra and draw distances. I was getting a ton of out of memory crashes in the Dev 1.67 32 bit but so far, none in 64 bit. Now with ACE3 working, back to more testing!

[COMPLETED][UNOFFICIAL] Task Force Radio 64bit(x64) dll
Valken replied to macchky's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Just tested ACE3 64 Bit and working so far! Ace medical, ballistics and particles seems to working! Thank you Macchky!!! :D -
@ OMAC - man I actually feel guilty about that! :P ... when with every new game trailer that comes out, you check these forums and Armaholic to see if someone is working on a mod for ARMA since those other games won't be hardcore enough for you!

Noticed 2 things already: Very aggressive cleanup routine? When I load Blastcore Edited or BSAE edition and run the YAAB mission, I can see the smoke just disappear when the camera turns around. With 32 bit, the columns still keeps rising and stays there persistently throughout the mission until it EOL. Also, lost 10 FPS in YAAB with the same settings and mods vs 32 bit. 4.5 GHZ Haswell, 32 GB 2400 MHZ CL10 DDR3, AMD 6950 2GB CFX unlocked. Game and OS on SSD. 1080p All settings low except for: Textures = Ultra Objects = Normal Terrain = Normal Water = Ultra Anistropic = Ultra SMAA Ultra AA OFF Sharpen 200% DOF OFF BLUR OFF 3800 view distance for both terrain and object I will be upgrading the GPU once the next version comes out but there should NOT be a 10 FPS drop due to extra memory handling. Probably growing pain and needs optimizations.

Real Light - ReShade Preset by Solano
Valken replied to Solano's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
@ Horus. Got it. Working - sorta... there is an error message tossed up by reshade.fx on load. probably pointing to the correct exe should fix it. In testing, I lost 10 FPS on the same settings compared to 32bit so going back to 32bit for now! :D -
TPW MODS: enhanced realism and immersion for Arma 3 SP.
Valken replied to tpw's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Hi TPW, No worries. I had to play in MP mode only to load up some coop missions. I did figure out how to copy the COOP/MP missions over to the SP folder so that enabled me to play it without the bleedout error. :D And to depbo some to change it to SP but that is fine for those few that are not fully SP compatible. Have to love ARMA's flexibility and look forward to your next surprise.- 5767 replies
