spooky lynx 73 Posted January 19, 2011 Ugh, not this old chestnut again :j:Artists that make DLC != programmers that fix bugs. Sure they could fix artwork bugs, but aside from a handful of people more interested in nit-picking, there really isnt anything thats totally game breaking. Prime example: "Oh noes, the T-72 has a dshk instead of an nsv1!11!!!one!!1" well they're both 50 cals, they both have a similar rate of fire, and they both achieve the same thing in game. So aside from a minor visual issue, its not game breaking. Mission and engine bugs are, but they arent the same people that make the majority of the DLC. Edit: oh, and GTA has tons of bugs, but for some reason people are always willing to overlook them? The PC version was barely playable in its first release... For those who treats A2 as just shooter it's not game breaking. For those who thinks about it as a kind of simulator "look alike" units and inaccuracy in weaponry matter. You may arm Abrams with M60s instead of M240s and for you it won't be game breaking. For me it will.

spooky lynx 73 Posted January 19, 2011 You have an interesting definition of "game breaking". Maybe. But I'm getting really disappointed while watching some ingame units made just like 'butt off&use this' style. Seems like they were made just for having something to shoot at in A2. So IMO not only coders have some job to do while polishing Arma2.

Still, the importance of fixing such issues is debatable, since the majority of players don't even notice them.
jblackrupert 14 Posted January 20, 2011 (edited) Arma 2 at the end of the day is the VIDEO GAME version of VBS2 In real-life you can's run forever at full speed with a 60lb pack and a 20+lb rifle and ammo. In real-life you can't whip around and start firing with any accuracy In real-life you can't climb hills and large rock formations like we do in Arma 2 In real-life you can't do barrel rolls in choppers (unless some smartass posts a Youtube video of a pilot doing so) In real-life you can't parachute from choppers. (pilot and co-pilot position) The list goes on and on and on...... Arma is a "simulator" but it's also a VIDEO GAME. MOST developers have more secretaries then Bohmia has employees. You have to cut them some slack. You want super duper uber realism? Join the Army Edited January 21, 2011 by jblackrupert
pettka 694 Posted January 20, 2011 In real-life you can't do barrel rolls in choppers Actually, you are able to barrel-roll, see for example :icon_twisted: I have looked it out a lot while working on choppers for BAF.But really nice points otherwise, kudos, sir. dm 9 Posted January 20, 2011 Arma 2 at the end of the day is the VIDEO GAME version of VBS2 No it isnt. VBS2 is the militarised version of ArmA1. In real-life you can't parachute from choppers. Tell that to these guys: 0orQ8pemmkI Actually, you are able to barrel-roll, see for example :icon_twisted: I have looked it out a lot while working on choppers for BAF.But really nice points otherwise, kudos, sir. You can if you have this facial hair :p[YOUTUBE]o6UxS4dAZfs[YOUTUBE] (just noticed pettka posted the same vid..whatev, it's still awesome) :D Actually it really depends on the helicopter. Those with rigid rotor heads (Lynx, Bo-105 (as per the video), and a few others) are capable of rolling (and generally going upside down). In any other helicopter, flying inverted is a death sentance, the semi-rigid or fully articulated rotor heads will mean your blades sail up and smash into the tail boom. Bad news in a helicopter. Allow me to touch your feet. if you weren't a Bohemia god I'd smack ya On the 8th day God created Bomemia....and Chuck Arron (Or somethin like that that. My Bible learnin is a little rusty....age and all) oh and I'm talking about parachuting from the PILOT/CO-PILOT seat positions...... Goddamn the internet and Youtube!. Whats next, Walker and some Wikipedia links for the finish? ;) I have to say though. Pekkta's Youtube video looks a lot like Arrowhead..... Just like Crysis. you have to focus your eyes to see the figure out of it's real or a virtual world. Edited January 21, 2011 by jblackrupert

spooky lynx 73 Posted January 21, 2011 oh and I'm talking about parachuting from the PILOT/CO-PILOT seat positions...... Mi-8/-24 seats have places for parachutes. And if height of flying is enough for jumping you can escape dammaged chopper through the opened windows in Mi-8 or doors in Mi-24.
stupidwhitekid75 11 Posted January 22, 2011 In regards to new content/DLC, has anyone noticed the "red star" on the side of both bridges in Proving Grounds? If the gas station was north of you, the red star is visible only in one area on the right side. Noticed it messing around in the editor today. Might have zero relevance, but it made me think of the Chinese red star.

stupidwhitekid75 11 Posted January 22, 2011 You and your suspicions. xD Mwahaha I'm determined to figure it all out....... :D I'll admit, I was disappointed in SOME areas in terms of the quality of the units in PMC, however I found the campaign to be excellent (..and exactly what I predicted it to be :p..). BAF units were amazing and I hope someday we see BI fill the whole faction out. With the next DLC, I hope to see an OPFOR to match the current BLUFOR, and I'd love it if it were a completely filled out force/full army like the United States is. archaon98 10 Posted April 4, 2011 I would like to see them give the Czech Army and German Army DLC's of their own. Even a campaign taking place during the war against the Royalist Takistani forces, playing as a member of the Takistani army, or militia.
Arksa 10 Posted April 4, 2011 (edited) I would prefer the DLC to be instead of a below average campaign with below average voice acting (PMC), to just feature some nice new weapons and vehicles and maybe some neat gadgets + maybe a one fairly big mission to demonstrate the introduced stuff. Would propably please the warfare crowd and the coop crowd when you give them new tools to play with rather than a campaign that's over in a few hours and then you just go "I enjoy warfare more than this". BAF IMO was a nice DLC since a few useful vehicles for warfare were introduced (Warrior, Wildcat, sometimes Jackal) and nice weapons like AS50, NLAW and the very nice looking british infantry camoflauge. PMC had KA-60, armoured SUV and the weird Sputnik and was more lacking in the weapons department compared to BAF. What Arma 2 needs in my opinion for DLC at the moment is new OPFOR high-tech weapons and vehicles. Currently the OPFOR weapons are just plain boring and I usually end up using FN Fal because AKs are just horrible in this game while blufor is full of cool stuff like the Mk17 variants, M110, nice TWS weapons and LMGs. We need some BMPTs and AN-94s! Edited April 4, 2011 by Arksa
rangerpl 13 Posted April 4, 2011 (edited) Yeah, a "Russian deployment in Takistan" DLC featuring some advanced weapons would be cool. Some MiG-35s, etc could go a long way. Edited April 4, 2011 by RangerPL
