In terms of what? Features? Performance? Stability?

Features mostly. I mean like what would you most like to be improved on apart from the obv like you stated Stability and Performance is def on the table but in terms of what modders can do in terms of addons would you rather have amazing sound, visual effects, AI & Gameplay tweaks or just wanna play loads of missions and large scaled campaigns.

Missions & Campaigns - Easy enough to do yourself :)

less robotic/superman/suicidal AI, a more realistic type of behavior during firefights.. like fear

AI definitely, they need alot of work.....But I would love some more Visual Effects aswell. :)

A.i and gameplay... we have some quality mods that take care of sound and visuals.. will be the same for OA..

I think the a.i needs to be a bit more "human" use cover properly... make it so the a.i cannot spot enemies through buildings... its quite obvious they can see over hills and through some types of objects.

i find it odd that when i am in an a.i controlled squad the leader gives me an order to target an enemy that none of us can see (through a building)

I would like the a.i to respond quicker... there has been many times where i have been able to snipe off soldiers in the distance and its squad mates will stand around or just lay down on the spot.

anyway, i can't even find a single shop that has even heard of this game coming out :eek: hopefully my local game shop will get it in ready for release day. (dislike digital versions)

Sound work. Sound work. SOUND WORK. The default sounds in A2 are monday-to-friday horrible. A2 actually regressed from A1 in terms of sound.

For people saying gameplay or AI, state specifically how you would them to be changed.

Beefy visuals

Theres already a million sound mods, the whole sound engine needs to be updated

AI will eventually get better with patches

missions are plentiful and easy to do yourself.

Definitely AI and gameplay improvements. I couldn't care less about the visual or audio side of the game so long as the standards for it progress realistically with BIS' games.

As I've said to people before, rather than having ArmA I'd have been happy with an OFP 2.0 patch that gave OFP all the improvements it got for OFP:E, graphically and gameplay...ly. :p

A little better netcode, if they could smooth out the player warping this game would be over the top.

Can't ever go wrong with smarter AI though.

Agreed. There really needs to be some better interpolation in that area.

Anyway I voted for AI/Gameplay. Visual FX are okay and already being improved in OA, sound effects and missions/campaigns can be provided by mods. AI/Gameplay is the stuff that needs to be as perfect as possible in the vanilla game. :)

Gameplay definately, visuals are just fine as they are right now and very on the 'pushing the envelope' for a simulation perspective.

It would be nice to see more love for vehicles, right now they aren't exactly as background as they are in other games but a few things could definately improve, tanks for one are a bit weak in the engines, they sputter and strain to overcome a hill that in real life they would just roll right over.

Render to texture (though I doubt we'll see it) would be another great addition for many pieces of equipment, aircract, modern MBT's, systems like CROWS and a few other things, another thing that could probably do some good is giving the crouch key the ability to turn in to vehicles, not just tanks.. Comming under fire from say a humvee, right now the gunner is entirerly open to fire, if they could 'turn in' then they could have some extra protection if things get too hot.

I also rather miss being a nobody who worked his way up as far as the campaign goes, this was one of the best things imo about OFP, and the special force thing is done so much today.

Obv this is again a research purpose poll.

Most importantly you´d have to specify who´s gonna be making the changes, i.e. are the results to be taken in consideraiton by BI, or by you? The current poll has AI/Gameplay in the lead, but i don´t think that enhancing AI by scripts (which Solus and SNKMan are doing already) is the ultimate solution - imho AI/Gameplay are fully on BI´s turf.

@KC: The music was better, and the thin sounds that helicopters make seemed more fitting. Also, we got stuck with worse firearm sounds for more weapons (6 weapons usually make the same sound), terrible all-around vocie acting, as well as the horrid, horrrrrrid dynamic speech.

For me the soundscape is much more interesting in ArmA II, just try to listen when you are in a firefight and bullets fly all over wizzhing/dizzing/cracking close to you. IMO much better than before. Nor can I understand that you think the heli sounded better before, now you hear when the rotors are loaded different sounds in/out etc.???

But as I said lets just agree to disagree! :)

PS: Music is OFF for me anyway so I care less about that aspect.

A woman who can kick my ass in ArmA 2 or any other "game", is into Archery & Sharpshooting, Is smart, and has a couple million $. Also, who can debate for hours on the use of Soviet tactics during the Cold War Era. Too much to ask for you say?

Improve the AI, from my observations, they don't act realistically in regards to taking cover and behavior in urban environments.

Your absolutly right. In all things we do, a challenge is allways encuraging :)

But on topic. Im very fond of the visual of Arma2 and ofc the missions etc. I found a mission by Xeno named Operation MoonWalk and its really spectacular, he leaves out night vision and places the mission at night with moonphase. Full moon so you can see, but not as much as you could with nightvision on ofc. It gives a lot of spectacular explosions and really wonderfull views :) Used the date in Quesh Kibrul where there are less trees so it gives a great setting. Allso missions that are just before the sun comes up or goes down.. i love it :)
