I had a model of the ford mustang that jason statham uses in the new deathrace, had a chaingun on then hood and everything. not sure where its gone now though :(

Please share your ideas what would you like to see on the map. An abandoned town, an outpost/fortress with an oil drill, grill restaurant, an armybase, airstrip, carjumps, cliffs that you can jump across, etc... brainstorming can bring new ideas and improve the map ;)

Hmm, for testing purposes I'll reskin this old baby and install a new engine ;)

Of course I encourage 3d modellers to give us a proper support, something like this would make a map much better:

I'll dig through my freeware collection, see if there is anything interesting (buildings, objects, vehicles etc.) that could be useful to ya.

If the MFP patrol cars were released for it at some point as well that would be the icing on the cake (for me)

I'd say it is pretty safe to asume one of the makers is willing to let convert this into ArmA. I dealt with that community a few times and had no problems with permissions.

In general, it may be good just to browse thru the categories there; lot's of suitable models were produced for that particular GTA

Interstate '76? That's like... USA. So TBH I think we need more desert maps, but more like afghanistan, iraq or whatever-middleeast-hotspot. Yeah, original maps are cool, but most of the time & cases - not really useful. You proved You're one of the best islandmakers out there, so;

Except Duala and [too small] Quesh Kibrul... there's no decent desert map, especially if we talk about middle east. Why only these 2, if there's Shekhabad, or Razani?

Simply because I talk about maps You can give people (coop teams, for example) to download, without mentioning "oh, and look out, it's only 3 GB's". CAA1 requirement is a true map killer.

So, to sum up: We need standalone desert middle-east maps\islands which are more complex than just 5x5 km...

I understand that you're all crazy about desert maps :)

Arb is working on his desert map and I also have nice plans for desert scenery. Not to mention that couple of dedicated map makers are working on Takistan (Arrowhead addon).

Even Panthera v2.6 will feature more desert terrain, as a test for an upcoming full desert map ;)

p.s. Jade Groove is still in production.

hmm. Is it illegal to use ArmA 2 models in other games? I know it's offtopic but it will end up slightly on topic once I reach my "point" after I know the answer...

I believe so. I remember a case where someone imported a A1 or A2 chopper to GTA IV and BIS weren't too happy about it (I think). Why do you ask?

Yep you are only allowed to use the ArmA1 MLODs for ArmA1 and it's sequels/expansion packs. As for ArmA2 models, you aren't allowed to modify them and release addons based on modified models as BIS didn't release any MLOD for ArmA2 and you would have to reverse engineer the model by 3rd party tools.

Funny enough that imo hexediting the model to use other textures (->3rd party tools) is in a way a not permissioned alteration of the original, but BIS doesn't seem to be bothered by this.

The only developer not that concerned about the use of their models in other games mods is GSC Gameworld, they allow their models to be used in non-commercial mods for every game you can think of.

Heh... I think that's exactly what I'm talking about. That GTA site that was posted on this page has the Venom and Cobra from ArmA2, it even says so on the page, ripped & put in GTA IV.

My point is be very very careful about using models from there. They have alot of stolen EA-Battlefield content as well.

My policy is using only addons that are given out by the creators. First we need the island and hopefully units will be ready soon after that.

I loved this game I remember I had to upgrade my PC back then before I could play it.

Yes map sounds very interesting, maybe you should pop into our TS and we could work on something together :)

SigmaSix made a great muscle car pack and hopefully we will see it in A2 too

BTW sigma has given us over at City Life permission to port these over to ARMA 2 for him, once this pack is complete I'll PM you

Not yet, still in the planning phase. And too bad OFP has CarWars mod with couple of "Arizona-feel" islands while A2 is somehow left behind.

I has asked Hitcher if he was going to port OFP Car Wars Mod to Armed Assault 1 and all I got back was a "maybe" and that he was too busy at the time.

So thanks...I'm looking forward to this one! :yay:

? How much of a secret is my "Sands" terrain I released ?

Sure its far from complete;

- It has no roads yet (some awesome tools being released to hopefully fix that)

- Its 41km x 41km of desert, so you need some fast cars ;)

Kinda offtopic, but in the Post Apocolyptic mod topic you mentioned something about working on a map for that mod, and I'm wondering...are you working on two islands at the moment? Or is this the same map?

If so thats cool! I've always loved the post apocolytic theme and cannot wait to see how this map turns out. Knowing you, it will be mega epic with lots of awesome details.

So im pumped to see the first WIP screenshots! :D
