Patch 1.05 "Announced". Includes AH-64

Recommended Posts

The beta patch didn't do crap for performance on my end. Just throwing that out there...

GRS: Did you set the MaxFramesAhead and the other one with the beta?

GRS: Remember you're getting a rewamped AI system, grass layer, and extended render distance. If the patch didn't do "anything", that means you're getting the same frames. If so, you're getting something because you're getting new features and stuff to look at for the same framerates - gotta mean something, right? :)

I'm still having severe frame drops near certain trees (normal textures not possible, have to go low, yuck), and ACE seems to help bring it down too. But much of the stutter issues has gone away, like in the towns and near the sea.

But, throw it out if you feel like it. 1.05 will be out soon I guess, and you'll be pretty much forced to upgrade :)

No I'm not throwing it out, I was just saying. However, I did something stupid. I somehow managed to mix up icons and was not running the newest beta. Once I figured that out I ran it. It was better. Not great, but better.

I believe that each time BIS gains a little bit of performance, they use it to add new features, so that you eventually get similar performance but more or better things to play with.

Let's face it : Arma 2 is much better optimized than Arma 1, but they added so much more stuff to the game (big forests and thick grass, civilians modules, ambient combat, Secops, micro AI, parallax mapping, hemispherical lighting, shadermodel 3...) that you eventually get only average or no performance gain at all, but gain in density.

I believe they'll do about the same with arrowhead and use the extra ressources gained to add new funky features.

Funny, I'm running A2 with great framerates on a 2 year old equipment (E6750, 4gb, 8800gt oc2) :) optimize your PCs, its not a freaking console. One bad software running on your PC can bring down performance, not to mention bunch of spyware and crap like that.

My biggest wish is to see "politic options" for new warfare mode, so commanders can maybe even ally against the strongest/biggest, form peace treaty with $$$ penalty on the one who brakes it (killed event), side missions for warfare etc ;)

True.

I would like that a lot.

You took the words right out of my mouth. I too am curious as to how this new 3 way Warfare will work. Warfare is my favorite game mode, and I spent DAYS of my life playing it online with the original armA. I'm also hoping they will finally enable the player to buy empty vehicles.

I thought you could buy empty vehicles..

when you select the car or tank you want there are little icons on the top right of the window, click what crew you don’t want (driver = steering wheel, gunner = crosshair, commander = binocular) then the vehicle will spawn without the un highlighted crew.

...or was that a mod version i played..?

It amazes me that there aren't a lot of members who are actually discussing the new Warfare mode. It's what I'm looking forward to most. Can't wait to see what it is exactly and how it works out in multiplayer.

Thanks BIS! Not only did you make the 3 best games ever but you continue to amaze me with your "free goodies". You did that a lot in the past with your previous games and now again with ArmA 2. You guys rule! *fanboymode off*

The 1.05 patch sound simply superb. A good reminder why people should keep supporting PC oriented developers like BIS who are commited and not mediocre, compromising console-slated devs who do anything to grab a few bucks from player's pockets. I probably have to buy another copy in addition to my DL version.

Anybody have an idea on how relevant this new warefare system will be to multiplayer?

if it allows the 3rd side to ally with one of the other, or play them off each other, it'll be very relevant. if it's just a 3rd team i have to kill, then not really.

I would like some shader option (or detail option) for vegetation like in ArmA1. Some of the trees as we know are FPS hogs. That is basically all that really cripple my PC non combat wise.

Some new islands are great but unplayable on my system. An option for the vegetation would do a lot me thinks.

Its wierd I thought jennik and suma read the thread about orange/red trees performance breakers, I could of swore that I read that it was being addressed in this patch on Dev-heaven.

Also that god dang Ocean/large bodies of water performance breakdown which keeps me from flying or doing any water based missions.

Performance in large towns is a HUGE PLUS!

Must get 1.5........Must get 1.5...........Must get.........

:bounce3:

Btw only for Arma2 i really would not buy a new RIG yet.

I run all games on Maxxed Settings and i never would spend 500-100€ just to get Arma2 the most crappied coded[but most loved^^] game ever better running, maybe some FPS.

If your PC specs are the ones in sig spoiler, then you have a better rig than me (E6750, 8800GT OC2 512, 4gb patriot). And I have no problems running A2 ;)

Technically yes, but two days with family will be enough thanks. You could still see a tomorrow release, it'll give me time to download but not time to enjoy.
