Patch 1.05 "Announced". Includes AH-64

Recommended Posts

But, like ArmA before it, seany, ArmA II will run amazingly on future hardware. What gets me 40 to 60 FPS in ArmA II right now, got me over 100 FPS in ArmA before it. You just got to be patient. ;)

Sooo, I spend my hard earned cash on a game that I shouldnt even be able to play for a year or so?

Yes im sure the performance will get even better. And that BIS manage to get ARMA2/OpA to use more than 2GB RAM. If it was an easy fix we would probably have seen it already in a patch or announcement. Im sure they manage to do something. ;)

Thank you BIS for adding the extra in the patch. :)

I thought eagle wing gonna feature AH-66 Comanche? Gaia change it?

Now that's a real slap to codemaster's OFPDR face :p

Yaawn, wake me up when the performance is on par with OFPDR. Then MAYBE i might just reinstall ARMA2.

Do a game of chess in the meantime then.

If you compare OFPDR with Arma2 a comparison with an analog chess game does it also.

Fraps are great in the analogue-world ... just another bad window.

I'll assume youre asleep because OFPDR is a steaming pile of boring shit, and your machine cant handle ARMA2.

Way to derail the thread.

So is this campaign the same one that Gaia was working on, except now its to be included in a patch so everyone will have it?

Please don't get me wrong here dude. I am fully aware of all the advanced and innovative features of ARMA 2. I own BOTH games if you hadnt noticed and I was very loyal to ARMA 2 in in its early days. But since ARMA 2 slowly turned literally into a f*king slide show and coop missions get fked up I couldnt take it any more. Those advanced and innovative features means NOTHING if I can't play the game like I'm supposed to!

My machine SHOULD be able to handle ARMA 2 is what my point is. If I'm the only person here with performance issues in a decent machine then why the hell is performance such a big issue with a MAJORITY of people in this forum? Like I said, I am willing to give ARMA 2 another chance if this new patch fixes this game once and for all. Although I fear that by the time this patch is out, I'll probably be busy playing the Bad Company 2 beta or ARROW HEAD might be weeks away from release.

What's the chances of an accurate guncam and targeting system for this badboy?

If it would be possible to implement a big performance boost, BIS sure wouldn't wait until Christmas or Patch 1.05 with it.

It's simply a complex game.

It's much more complex than the one you compare it with.

There is nothing like "bad coding" and a needed "optimization".

At last not in the amount many expect.

Arma2 is hardware hungry.

Not for nothing.

For good reasons.

If you think otherwise and have good technical hints, please comment here.

Kju has already proven with his mods that performance can be increased through changing building and vegetation LODs, BIS should add it as an option in the graphics settings.

Thank you very much BIS. Looking forward to the fixes you have included and the extras you have thrown in for free! ;)

Simply put - yes. If you buy games expecting them to run perfectly on your current hardware all the time, then you should go to consoles. PCs ain't for you. Especially if you want ArmA II's performance to be on-par with a console port like DR.

The main logic behind these freebies is to draw in more customers. I read an interview with Valves Gabe Newell and he was talking about the massive increase in sales for TF2 everytime they release a patch and release a 'freebie'. 1 reason why VALVE support TF2 and LFD so well.

So obviously this 1.05 patch makes Arma2 run the best so far, include a freebie and you can watch sales increase.

Hope it works for them.

I am actually looking forward to OA. Course I'm going to wait and see if the performance actually improves and if this turns out to be the FINAL fixed version of ARMA.

I upgrade ALL THE TIME. But ARMA 2 alone isnt justifiable to get me to upgrade yet again when I can run games like FAR CRY 2 at the highest settings. Like I said, a lot of people here are complaining about this one game's performance issues, it ain't just me.

Hope the Apache comes with an "unlocked english language" loadout..

Edit:

Official teaser video with campaign description:

unlocked optimization is also welcome.

I like the way the game stretches hardware/drivers, you can always turn the settings down! The 1.05 patch looks FAB and OP:Arrowhead, yes!! Community stuff kicking in now as well..

Oh ffs, this argument again...

ArmA II is a hundred times more complex than DR, and a thousand times more complex than Far Cry 2. Far Cry 2 may have the graphics, and DR might have the performance, but neither have very much substance. ArmA II is chocked full of substance. It calculates millions of different things very quickly and dynamically, which neither Far Cry 2 nor DR do. It also streams, in real time, a huge island with as much stuff going on it as your PC can handle. Far Cry 2 and DR can't, and will never be able to do this.

Seriously, you sound like you'd be much more happy with consoles. One thousand-Dollar-upgrade every 3 years and you can play everything. Don't expect the same with PCs for anything other than console ports.

But let's get back on topic, shall we?

while I am extremely grateful for all the new features and bug fixes and free content, I would give it all up in a heart beat to have more optimization of the game and better performance, which is what this patch was supposed to bring.

Have I missed something or has someone announced that the patch will not introduce further optimization?

I upgrade ALL THE TIME. But ARMA 2 alone isnt justifiable to get me to upgrade yet again when I can run games like FAR CRY 2 at the highest settings. Like I said, a lot of people here are complaining about this one game's performance issues, it ain't just me.

What kinds of expectations do you have? The game has video options so that you can find a suitable setting to run the game at a good frame rate. I'm running the game with the specs you can see in my sig and while it looks and runs like shit, it's far far far below the minimum requirements. I'd be extatic to have a PC that you claim to run other games smoothly at the highest settings.

Turn down graphics settings. If that doesn't help, then your PC just isn't good enough. Tough luck.

If you want it to run like more like DR then you can turn down the settings to make it look more like DR :j:

I hope they finally fix the 40mm grenades and HE rounds bug.

every soldier should wear a suit made out of twigs and leafes, he would take no harm when he gets hit by a grenade or HE round.

would make a nice body armor, light and with very good protection.

I'm kinda with BF2_Trooper on this one. I can play anything else maxed out and have a smooth FPS. ArmA2.... not so much. I would expect it to be slower with all the stuff happening as someone mentioned, but it's really just ridiculous how bad it can get, even with settings lowered. And this is with XP32, and all the goodies. I build my rig to surpass ArmA2's recommended requirements, and it is still choppy. I'm also that guy who would rather have gameplay then fancy graphics but when I build a machine to surpass what the dev's tell us and it doesn't work as it should... then I start having issues. Hopefully they get it figured out soon, that is the day I'll actually try playing again. Until then I have OFP *AND* DR. Yes, that's correct, I like them both for what kind of game they are. :D
