Iraq will only have Cougars, not Mastiffs

Mastiffs are modified extensively in the UK to meet our specifications, so can't be bought through Force Protection, Inc.

Topas any chance you could post that picture up, im interested in the mad colour scheme you was talking about. I really doubt that once the Ridgeback (Cougar) is complete id be able to do extra versions due to the extra armour the UK tend to stick on it. Basically if you are to look at the rear side windows they are not present on the UK versions of Mastiff and Ridgeback due to the armour we whack on it, so i havent modelled any of those windows. Isnt anyone making a American version? I could release the model to the right mod team once completed though, so someone could add the extras as im nice like that. :D

Very strange camo scheme. Is it named after the scarey man eating badgers our boys had let loose in the desert? :D

@ Cleggy, thankfully the unwrap is being done in modo so its a bit more automated with just a lil help from myself to show it where i want the seams. :yay:

Managed to get some more free time in to get more modelling done, some parts were remade due to cross reference and my good ol pal Da12th! Externally the models about 85% complete, so nearly there!

Right, because people keep asking about my sig I promised myself that I'd do a quick preview of what I've been adding to the UKF Weapons Pack that Chris and Messiah made, once I finished making the rvmats and associated materials for the new bits.

So here goes. Click images to expand them into the proper pics ;):

UKFWPtn.png

The major changes are the addition of rifles with the latest accessories for operations in Afghanistan (including the picatinny rail platform, ACOG scope), improvements to the rvmats to utilise ArmA 2's DX9 "super-shaders" and detail maps. Improvements have been made to the bipod and butt of the LSW to improve their fidelity to the real weapon. There are also some weapons fitted with a Surefire FA556-212 suppressor, as used by Special Forces Support Group. The weapons now also have shadow LODs and some of the lighting problems on the models have been fixed.

The pack should contain about 20 SA80 variants once complete. That includes the 9 variants shown above, plus iron-sighted versions of the weapons on the top row, and some weapons fitted with BFAs. The iron-sights model need needs UV-mapping, texturing and LODs made but is progressing well.

The following images show the new attachments in detail if you click them

L85Newtn.png L85ACOGtn.png

The ACOG is based on Panda_pl's ACOG TA31RCO as seen in the ACE mod. It has been modified to represent the ACOG TA31DOC-W used by British forces since 2007.

I owe a massive thanks to panda and scubaman3D for allowing me to use the model and am in the process of trying to put it back on its original mount and rearrange the UV-mapping so that I can sent it back to them as a standalone model.

Functionality wise, I've adapted the scripts from AAW's weapon pack with norrin's permission, to allow players to use the peep-sights on top of the SUSAT, and the Docter red-dot sight on the ACOG. I have also included handanim switching for the L123A3 UGL and bipod deployment for the LSW and GPMG. The weapon optics now also feature night-time tritium illumination.

Some pics of these features are linked below:

http://pukf.net/da12th/images/ACOGop.jpg

The pack is also compatible with some basic ACE features like bipod resting (when deployed), inventory weight etc. However the pack doesn't require ACE to play.

I still have large amounts of bug-fixing and tweaking to do in the configs, as well as include the other planned rifles, so don't expect this to be released in the near future. Hopefully though, this has staisfied some peoples' curiosity, and given better insight into where we're headed than the tiny teaser in my sig did.

Oh boy oh boy oh boy...

The details on that daniel defense RIS -- amazing. And the rest of it looks awesome, too.

I'm off to link this on our website now so that the rest of the group can say "oh boy oh boy oh boy.." as well.

This will be fantastic and I certainly can't wait :)

Thanks for sharing man!

Aye, Jonny's been singing my praises for doing it.

It looks completely daft doing it when you're stood/crouched in the middle of nowhere and drop the bipod, or try to run with that handanim. But really, why would you have the bipod down without something to rest it on?

I also did a hip-shooting anim for when the bipod's up, but that caused far too much distortion when you tried moving or reloading. It never got beyond a small demonstration version for the lads in UKF to play around with.

gimpy3.th.jpg <-I reiterate that this version isn't going to be in the pack

Made you look warry as fuck in the few instances where it worked like it was supposed to though. :D

Shame that anim wasn't doable, otherwise I'd be trying to convince Chris that the GPMG is the ideal personal weapon for section commanders in VCB.

The deployable bipods and new anims for using GL are awesome, I wish they were in all weapons. :)
