Sweet deal! It would be really awesome to have a Starwars mod focused on military operations and between imperial and rebel forces - Leaving lightsabers and force using out of it completly.

Acacyn released some amazing Space ship models for OFP, this reminded me to go check them out again :)

Acacyn hasn't been around for a while I don't think...

Also though I think that the force should be left out of things because the game engine wouldn't be suited for it, though if someone were a good animator etc yeah I guess I could see it done to degree. But as it stands I'd rather see Rebel versus Imperials or Republic versus CIS.

That's too much that be done by a single men. A good-looking island without any errors, with good performance in the size of Chernarus would need months to be done. Basicly you need at least two factions that can fight each other. Then you'll need buildings, sounds, objects, weapons ... it's a hell of work just to create or convert the models for ArmA II. You'll need configs and textures as well. At the end it has to be looking good, it shouldn't cause lags and it must not create errors in the rpt file.

That's why I like to repeat myself. Don't expect everything at once :) It'll grow over the years. McRuppert should be able to all this stuff but give some time. On the other hand it would be good to release small packs - although they couldn't be used in an appropriate way. It keeps people busy and happy and offers the chance to gain feedback and error reports.

Also... even if he did make an island, it wouldn't have to be anywhere near the scale/quality of Chernarus.

Legislator: Yeah a Team is great....But I only had bad experiences with them so i plan to do it on myself.

Yeah i remember the speeder for OFP :) But i wont convert it, there will be a new one....

I think in the first small release will be:

Imerpial:

-Stormtrooper

-Scouttrooper

-Sandtrooper

-Imperial Officer

Rebell:

-Rebeltrooper http://www.vegatransports.com.au/AustralianStarwars/rebel_fleet2.jpg

-Rebell Woodtrooper

Hunters:

-Boba Fett

Objects:

-Some Imperial and Rebell Buildings like bunker, some kind of walls...

Vehicles:

~Maybe the speederbike

But before this all will get started i have one big problem:

I want a good looking laser for the blasters....there was a SW weapon addon for Arma it it looks very good but i really have no experience in that so i first have to learn more about it... sry

I love the TIE-Fighter!

With the "newer" engine and the new tools, would it be possible to make working leg animations for AT-AT and AT-ST?

Btw, the coolest thing for arma2 would be this:

Wow that takes me back to when I had the LEGO snowspeeder... God I wish I were still like 10, then I wouldn't have to go to school (actually, college is much better than middle/highschool...) & find a job every summer, and I could play with my LEGOs all day...

Would be harder to get porn though. :confused_o:

I've had enough low quality addons for almost 8 years now. I like the new wind coming with ArmA II + the new quality of community made addons. Personally I won't use any low quality addon anymore. I know McRuppertle can handle this ;) There's no need for a hurry.

Hey Rupertle I wouldn't mind helping out either. I think Arma2 is the perfect environment for a star wars mod (or series of addons as would be better). At the moment I'm strapped for time but hopefully over the next month or two I could get into it by developing some nice detailed Clone troopers and such. Or whatever really as this will be pretty sweet if you could simulate good laser fights well and not like so many games where lasers travel so damn slowly :p

Anyways good work so far. Really looking forward to it all and in case you have no idea who this is, it's SpaceGoat from the old GAW forum ;)

I'm sure with enough hard work it is possible! :) (i hope) I'd love to see them in ArmA II on Hoth.

Anyway, I'm watching this topic closely, some very nice work being done here. Also, I'm happy to help with any of this star wars stuff if needed.

Arma2 now supports ‘tracer’ numbers effectively you can tell the engine how many bullets are tracers.

It wouldn’t be too hard to make the tracers appear on every bullet (giving the impression of a laser). Game already supports red/green tracers.

Might be a way to select larger ammo, so the ‘laser’ appears bigger but tone down the damage.

Just thinking out loud here etc.

I won’t be posting anymore crap into this thread and I feel I de-railed it already with my silly Tie fighter post.

All credit for McRuppert, those models look great, if you need any assistance on anything just shout up, if I’m not able to help I know people that can etc.

Sure it is :) You can go across the whole countryside, you can place and enter every possible vehicle and drive or fly. You can go by ship ... you can do whatever you want in this game. Create you own terrain, missions, vehicles, units, weapons, objects, sounds and many more. It's not like Battlefront where you have to stick into a predefined area. You'll notice that you die very easily. You'll have to play it slower than Battlefront.
