da12thMonkey 1943 Posted June 24, 2009 anyone got any good references of up to date 'temperate' uk camo (with a view to chernarus, most recent photos on the net are from desert/arid environments for obvious reasons - would orsons links be indicative?) thanks guys The tan paint scheme with green stripes in the link Orson posted is only used at training establishments like the Land Warfare Centre (LWC) Warminster in the UK, and the British Army Training Unit Suffield (BATUS) in Canada. IIRC the vehicle in that walkaround is at BATUS. The regular temperate environment scheme was similar to the training unit pattern except that it is green with black/dark-grey stripes (see here). However, British vehicles are currently tending towards an all-over green scheme and we no longer repaint the black stripes when the vehicles undergo maintenance and overhaul where I work (see here, or for a freshly repainted one here). I highly recommend a look at this site to get an impression of how the vehicles look in the field: http://plain-military.tripod.com/ There are many more pictures if you join their forums. Thanks for the additional images of the hatch. I'll try to give you some pointers and maybe a few more references later.
abs 2 Posted June 24, 2009 Thanks AbsBut when i want, to open it i'm get an :file damaged error :j: Yea, I think there was a problem with the first one. If you google it, you can find another source for it. Spend the time to find it. It'll be worth it. It was this video series, and some help from a respected forum member, that taught me how to model. max power 21 Posted June 24, 2009 I'm worked with this guns :http://kepfeltoltes.hu/090623/666u66uuuiui5u5uu_www.kepfeltoltes.hu_.jpg http://kepfeltoltes.hu/090623/hz45hz5iu45z45z_www.kepfeltoltes.hu_.jpg http://kepfeltoltes.hu/090623/tku34uj6hzug4jgzu6_www.kepfeltoltes.hu_.jpg http://kepfeltoltes.hu/090623/tz3utzu3zguzg4uzu4_www.kepfeltoltes.hu_.jpg[/img] The shapes in silhouette look alright, but remember the weapons have 3 dimensions. Are you using an 'orthographic poly plane' for reference? It's where you set up a poly plane with a picture of what you're trying to model on it, and you model sort of over top of that. PM me and I'll give you a more detailed explanation of how to do it in Max if you like. Also, definitely check out some tuts. It will give you a better handle on the tools that Max has at your finger tips.
mikebart 1 Posted June 25, 2009 Some modular building set's, kind of old but I just picked them up again, basically the idea is that you'll be able to knock out parts of the building in sections, I'll still need to make some damage and destroyed states. Who knows, maybe with some help we could get tanks driving through em :D
max power 21 Posted June 25, 2009 Nice. I really like what you've done with it, given there is so much repeated tiling going on. You don't really pick up on it except for the rust spots on the roof. Even then it's not too too obvious. One thing is that the joists supporting the second floor should all be facing the same direction. I don't know if that is possible with the way you are building this thing, I just thought I would let you know.

Thanks Max, I think ill give the textures an overhaul eventually, some of them don't need to be tiling as much as they are and i might end up using some decals. yeah you're right, ill spin those joists round, that section's going to be unique anyway because of the roof direction Here are some more variations, they still use the same texture sheet as the pics above. max power 21 Posted June 27, 2009 Groovy. I think you should experiment with some decals. Those differently mapped polies on the outer wall give a very geometric look to the peeling paint.
mikebart 1 Posted June 28, 2009 Hopefully decals are the visual icing on the cake for this, but I think im going to end up sacrificing some visual quality to make something that's functional and hopefully fun, that's if it even works at all, last thing I want to do is pour my heart and soul into it and have it fail. Once this first test building is finished, creating more should be a breeze due to its modularity and how it uses UV space.

Messiah 2 Posted June 29, 2009 (edited) I thought the UKF guys are made out of pure evil and spite? We are if we don't get our coco pops in the morning, otherwise we're rather lovable ;) There's some really impressive stuff already. Giving me the itch to get things ported/updated across to ArmA 2 now that its arrived in the post. Edited June 29, 2009 by Messiah

[frl]myke 14 Posted July 1, 2009 WIP: CH-53 CREDIT: This model was made by AfrographX for OFP. I don't claim a single vertice being from me. I will sort the textures, optimize the LOD's as far as i'm able to, redo the textures (still too dark), creating normal and specular mapping and rvmat files, clean up the config and model.cfg and tweaking it as good as i can. NOTE: I still need AfrographX authorization before i can release it when i'm done with. Right now it will be for our clan only but i hope i'll get the permission. Already sent PM to him but i'm afraid he isn't very active here anymore. So if someone can help me to get in contact with him lease let me know.
SWIFT88 0 Posted July 2, 2009 (edited) orson thanks for the pointers, helped me give the the driver's hatch some attention: da12thmonkey - hows that? was a bit shoddy before anyway - and you're right about the cannon, i'll give some attention to that too, i'm just keen to crack on with UVs and get stuck into 02 etc - this is a bit of a learning off-shoot for me - i'm in a relative comfort zone at the minute as i do some 3d work in real life but haven't done much game content - yeah i mean to add the other bits and peices - chobham armour as well - think i'll save slat armour etc for another day (month, year) though anyone got any good references of up to date 'temperate' uk camo (with a view to chernarus, most recent photos on the net are from desert/arid environments for obvious reasons - would orsons links be indicative?) thanks guys This may help too.....
