Fox '09 14 Posted October 15, 2011 air warrior helmet? ---------- Post added at 09:28 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:24 PM ---------- Nice, Fox. If you get bored, some Russian NODs are sorely missed in the Armaverse. :) that would definitely be an interesting project. In fact if i can gather enough people a NVG library would be nice, so the player can choose between NVGs.

b00ce 160 Posted October 15, 2011 http://i.imgur.com/lOX4V.pngearly wip Looking great. But generally speaking the only people to wear those are crew chiefs/door gunners. The primary purpose of those face shields is to keep the rotor wash off the mic. I know a Blackhawk crew chief, currently deployed in Afghanistan, and he says doesn't like wearing it because it feels like he's being smothered by a pillow. :p Can't wait to have some proper Helicopter pilot helmets! slatts 1978 Posted October 16, 2011 http://i.imgur.com/Zkvtk.pngearly wip and i only got ace combat today with that mask on the door gunner and thought it would be cool to have that :p

PuFu 4600 Posted October 16, 2011 a bit more work on it + refining stuff - direct max screen grabs below
b00ce 160 Posted October 17, 2011 The visor looks a little too low on the forehead, it needs to move about an inch or so further up, the bottom of the visor needs to stay in the same spot (If that makes any sense.), though. http://www.flightgear.dk/pic/hgu56.jpg The knobs, if you look at it from the front, are left for clear (Night) visor, right for the black (Day) visor and are almost perfect circles. Great work so far.
PuFu 4600 Posted October 17, 2011 @vidsor: yeah i had that feeling as well, but the acording to the schematics on gemtex, the visor is where it should be, on the same Z axis with the cut in the main body of the helmet behind it. The images you posted are a bit deformed by the perspective angle. @The buttons/sliders for the visors are not that round as they seem from your photos either (take a look over those 2 high resolution images:) http://i.imgur.com/Jb5Nf.jpg http://i.imgur.com/eb1i7.jpg thank you for the feedback anyways, i'll look if i can improve it somehow
konyo 14 Posted October 17, 2011 Got a bit bored so created an iPhone 4 on Oxygen2, needed it for next project anyway :P You may have noticed the background for another game ;) It will be in one of my helicopters for Take On Helicopters :) Image link here << (Over 100kb)

Some things might be a bit off but always tricky when making organic shapes. Imho the ear pieces are a bit too smooth and not 100% sure about the shape of the shield. Never the less, good job. You might want to check PEOsoldier (on FlickR). They have some decent very high res pictures of the air warrior helmet and gear, including the new apache aircrew helmet. http://www.flickr.com/photos/peosoldier Some old pictures of my take on the helmet (here and there some mistakes and overall not too high poly): http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9771621/1.JPG http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9771621/3.JPG http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9771621/559.JPG *URL linked the pictures out of protest of the 19th century old '100kb' restriction. I guess the ear pieces ar not as well defined as in your case due to TB (and because those really have a a smoother flow between the main helmet and themselves. Look really good :) EDIT: I hope you will integrate clear-coated AND sunreflecting visors with custom actions. i'll se about it, it started as secondary project for the kiowa lads, but would be stupid to do only the version i am interested in
DaSquade 0 Posted October 20, 2011 I'll se about it, it started as secondary project for the kiowa lads, but would be stupid to do only the version i am interested in Maybe i misunderstood, but any crew helmet has clear-coat AND sunreflecting visor build in (afaik). I would need to check but left slider lowers/raises the clear coat, right slider lowers/raises the sun visor.

While you are correct about what you are saying, what i meant about "i'll see about it" was referring to the custom actions (as in animating those visors) which is really low on the priority list
