Not all of the classic mode sounds good to me. The decrease of the overal speed\stamina may fit those smaller maps that we have right now, but in bigger ones (that I hope will be released more often since they're trying to figure out the problems in the server+custom maps) it would be a problem, specialy while we don´t have light vehicles for transport (TWI is working in 2 more tanks ATM).

Also, the removal of bleeding to death deaths (this makes sense?) makes me sad; its not every shot that is a instant kill (like those movies where someone is KO with one punch or instant killed with a stab).

IMO, the gameplay modifications that will have the greatest impact is: sway\stamina relation (resting\cover\stance will have a much larger importance), the need to stop sprinting to shoot and the peripherical vision stuff (the worst implementation I've seen so far).

Decrease of speed is good imo. Slows down the game. Vanilla is to fast paced with people bouncing around hipshooting everywhere. Reminds me of CoD WaW. Regarding vehicles it's a good idea to be able to exit and enter them which is not possible at the moment. Bleeding to death was removed because you could bandage yourself in less than a second. My suggestion to this was to slow down the animation to about 7-8 seconds, but this was never considered, instead it was completely removed.

So much of this have been discussed at the board for the last six months and it's great to see - excuse my language - to see TWI pull their thumbs out from their asses and do something. When the early complaints rushed in Ramm's response was basically that it didn't have to be addressed because the hardcore fans we were just presenting 0,01% of all gamers. Ironically, Sion Lenton used this argument aswell regarding ''OFP'' Red River if I remember it correctly.

For me, Realism was realistic enough. The main thing which promotes the fast gameplay is respawn imho. There was no real personal punishment for death.

Classic slows the pacement of the game to realistic terms, but does so by artificial means, as in no zoom, old man stamina and less SMGs.

Countdown in RO2 Realism had the right pace. People sneaked around and valued their life more, because they had to wait 2+ minutes after their death.

IMHO, TWI shouldn't have put so much time in an RO1 mode and better put out more content than Mamayev...

Action mode is a tad silly, if you ask me (you didn't).

It's very possible to take a 9mm to the head and live. On the other hand, it makes running around after tanks with satchel charges a whole lot easier. :bounce3:

Yeah, the patch really brought fresh blood and meat into this game. Let's see how long they'll stick around.

Playing Pavlov's and Fallen Fighters with this new bunch is hell. Nobody moves, just camp until an arty shell desintegrate them.

As an always 200ms+ player, the game really fells smooth now, barely need to compensate for ping while shooting. And the performace... now I an almost max up the settings. Only wish that admins make a proper config for servers: all that I played have global instant death messages, thats just bad.

Yupp, that's correct.

The problem is that most of the fans to the series expected a spiritual sequel to ost. In the early beginning things were looking were good but close to release many things were drastically changed by Tripwire. I mostly blame their desire to make the game more accessible. It's simply a dangerous thing to do because the word ''accessible'' is not the best word to use in the TWI community.

Adding perks, weapon unlocks, lockdown timer, fancy gadgets, twitchshooter movements, rambo friendly MGs, smaller maps and more restricted maps, spawn on squad leader, 1-second bandaging, characters talking when you want them to shut up, quickaiming, sprinting and making an instant stop to aim, no weapon handling (in ro2 it takes no skill to master the weapons such in ro ost and in arma. Its only a matter of pointing and fire) aswell as completely removing the command system from OST just to replace it with a command radial that reminds me of the one used in the console game Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising and Red River. Fits well in a console game I admit. Then TWI created to separate modes - Relaxed Realism and Realism Mode. Totally unecessary, since Realism Mode is identical to relaxed realism - only thing that differs is hud elements.

So yes, Classic Mode should never been released. It should have been there from the beginning. But TWI were trying to appeal to the 90% alá the mainstream, and that, along with bugs and optimization problems, caused serious fractions within the community and a crazy player drop. Even RoLadder officialy made a statement how dissapointed they were with the game. Because of that, and also other reasons, Roladder.net is gone. Permanently, aswell as the competetive MP in RO2. While I am not going to blame only TWI for this (there is another story aswell!) their decisions with RO2 have definely not done anything better. Rather worse.

Now, more than six months later TWI have finally realized that when the player count drop from 10,000 to cirka 3000, when complaints fill the board constantly, when the CoD players isn't playing the game, then, you can't blame all this on the release of Battlefield 3.

TWI basicly took for step forward and two steps back. If they didn't do that, imagine how much time they could have spent on content such as new maps rather than having to remove and re-work everything they've been working with. I personally believe ''Action Mode'' should be called ''Bot Mode'' because that's probably what its going to be.

In one way I'm glad it went very bad instead of just bad. If it just went bad RO CLASSIC would probably never be released or even considered.

I can see where your disappointment comes from. Maybe TWI should have called this game sth. else to avoid the "IT ISN'T LIKE RO1" bandwaggon. I mainly stopped playing because of missing content, not because it was too fast.

With classic mode everything feels fine again. CD has become even more exciting than it was.

Pure excellence. Now it only needs players to stay and flourish.

Still thinking that Classic movement speed is to slow. 10 or 20% faster would be ideal IMO.

Really enjoyed the new patch played for an hour or so last night, like the classic mode. Had great fun in those little bunkers on the new map. Hopefully soon as well as the pacific war expansion, the vietnam mod is not to far round the corner.

I'm new to this game because I purchased RO2 two weeks ago. I find the game really good and immersive. Best WW2 shooter I have ever played :)

If I were in charge I would remove all modes and replace them with one: Classic.

But that's just me. By the way, how does the player count look now?

Are you mental? You want to drop the 2 most popular modes and instead have a RO1 mode, which is not what the majority of the players paid for?

Player count shot up when GOTY came out, last time I played there wer 8000 players, about the same as when it first released.

The way it's meant to be played was RO2 Realism mode. Classic was added because a few very vocal whiners on the TWI forums cried all day that RO2 is not RO1. Then they complain that Classic mode has not enough servers and that classic should be the only mode.

These guys and the lack of content destroyed my interest in the game.
