4 IN 1 0 Posted April 18, 2009 So in ARMA2 case, would the videogame haters scared of turning a bunch of kids into well trained soldiers? :D
Stimpak_Addict 0 Posted April 18, 2009 Oh no! My offspring are learning military tactics, and now want to do something useful for our country! And it's all because of ArmA II! :p
USSRsniper 0 Posted April 18, 2009 (edited) This is game made for 18+, not to prevent kids from turning into trained soldiers but to get rid of annoying kids in multiplayer :p Edited April 18, 2009 by USSRsniper
sidhellfire 0 Posted April 18, 2009 (edited) I agree, that violent, crazy, horror-like games about psychopathic murderers shouldn't be played by a kids, but in the other hand: If people are willing to block access to the game, that gives opportunity to hurt an animal, or elder, or defenceless child, I am personally shocked that we still allow kids to live, since reality allows such opportunities. Even worse - in real world, it goes far further, and in fact you can really hurt someone. Therefore, why don't we just purge those little monsters, who are direct threat for our adult society. I say "Let's kill our children before they turn into a demoralised zombie with mentality of a psychopathic video game evil character who's not afraid of violence, blood, and consequences of a criminal activity!". sparks50 0 Posted April 19, 2009 (edited) This is strange, this early packshot from a German distributor seems to be marked with 16+? (unknown ratingsymbol) Could it be that they originally intended for 16+ but got rejected? http://www.gol-clan.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=2452 Edited April 19, 2009 by sparks50
mattxr 9 Posted April 19, 2009 I hope its an 18, it might just trim down on some of the "kids" that buy this game and spoil Co-ops :D hehe
twisted 128 Posted April 19, 2009 rate it 18+ by all means. if that means getting a better combat simulation experience that pulls fewer punches that so be it.
kavoven 4 Posted April 19, 2009 I hope its an 18, it might just trim down on some of the "kids" that buy this game and spoil Co-ops :D hehe You may forget that there were quite some people contributing to the OFP modding community that were below the age of 18 a few years ago. As much as I dislike those guys commonly known as "CS Kiddis", whishing that a game doesn't fullfill the right standarts for being rated under 18 is in my opinion short sighted. BLSmith2112 0 Posted April 20, 2009 I grew up with OFP, and am glad that there was no law back then preventing me from getting it. Or at least, when I got it - no one asked a 14-15 year old kid for identification :). Being 22 now... I really don't care what they rate it :)

I didn't even meet the OFP age restriction of 16 when I started toying around with modding stuff :D
Binary 0 Posted April 20, 2009 I started playing OFP when i was 11.. I didn't turn out a psycho..
GepardenK 0 Posted April 20, 2009 hmmm maybe "interactive" whores is the reason for the 18+:D I mean, we already know they are interactive, but to what extent?
Baff1 0 Posted April 20, 2009 (edited) Hopefully it is because the plot/scenario is so believeable and unnerving. Personally I like my games family rated. Although I enjoyed SOF and FEAR etc. Having to turn off my PC, in the middle of a game, everytime a child walks in for fear of giving them nightmares is a pain. Teaching them foul language does not go down very well with the girls in my life either. 18+ ratings is only cool for 18-25 year olds in my opinion. People for whom being adult is still an exclusive club. Once you get past that phase, it adds very little for the inconvenience. Gore, porn, bad language. It tickles my funny bone still, but I prefer if it isn't part of the package. Edited April 20, 2009 by Baff1

Maio 293 Posted April 20, 2009 As I played OFP I was 8-9 years old because my uncle brought me a copy. Now I'm 16. Do you say that I'mma kiddie now? Yes.. The age of a person does not reflect his or her's maturity . I know 15 year olds more mature then grownups .. On topic. It might be the story
hellasmoke 10 Posted April 21, 2009 I would imagine it might have something to do with multiple items Blood Language Violence Gore(YIPEE!!!) Anything could be attributed out of this category....but I do wonder or hope more or less, its all of these things.
sparks50 0 Posted April 22, 2009 (edited) Some potty mouths on these marines^^ Anyway, I like the humor in the dialog seen on many of the screen shots. Reminds me a bit of BF Bad Company, which had a lot of good humor in it.(the rest of Bad Company, wasn't so interesting) http://www.pcgames.de/screenshots/original/2009/04/ArmA2_03.jpg Edited April 22, 2009 by sparks50
TheReddog 0 Posted April 23, 2009 This worries me, as currently (due to some nut job Governor General in South Australia) we have no R18+ classification for games here. Anything deemed R18+ is automatically refused classification. I guess I'll have to purchase this from overseas :(

Anything deemed R18+ is automatically refused classification. I guess I'll have to purchase this from overseas :( But that rating is given by some classification body in Australia. They will most likely give the game a 15 rating. They are inconsistent there. The console version of GTA4 had to be toned down but the PC version managed to get the 15 rating without any changes. Matt International 10 Posted April 23, 2009 What does it matter? I'm sure we'll all bump into some whiney kid who insists on rapping down his microphone and screaming when he gets shot. I blame the irresponsible parents myself. It does my head in when I'm playing a game certified 18+ and I meet some 12 year old. Gaming was a whole different ball game when I were a lad. The console version of GTA4 had to be toned down but the PC version managed to get the 15 rating without any changes. That's the problem, inconsistency, and treating games as if they're something only children play. Fear 2 is banned here due to excessive violence, which is rubbish, there are much more violent games that are completely legal to play. Whether a game is refused classification or not seems completely arbitrary and up to whoever at the ACB reviews it. These same people are apparently going to be the ones charged with controlling the internet blacklist if the Governments new net censorship plan gets through. If that happens I am moving abroad!
