Latest ArmA2 & ArmA2:OA Press Coverage | NO discussion here!

Recommended Posts

I think morphicon tries to get the user by a mostly bugfree game but this is BIS job...I don't watch tv but there is really no ad about ArmA 2 nor on websites...

Lol!

Really I know just one game which was present on TV and this was GTA4 with a really really incredible hugh bugdet for PR and marketing, so keep with both feets on the ground. ;)

I think the Adverts will be some flashanims on gamestar or pcgames as it was with ArmA and maybe some adverts on the magazine itself but big posters or soething like it was for GTA4 is way to expensive for such little publisher...

:D :smileflower::rofl::rofl: :icon_dj:

Morphi wants our best, our cash, they do not care if it is buggy or not as long as it does not lower their share.

And Rockstar was worried about not recouping the dev costs. BIS is not likely to sell to millions so mega-advertising is out of the question. Also, OFP sold well over a million copies and its advertising wasn't exactly pervasive. Anyway... back to ARMA2 press coverage!

So why doesnt 505 distribute all over EU? Germany is probably the largest market for the game here so for Morphicon life seems good, they only publish the game where its success is pretty much guaranteed, thats probably why they dont even bother with promotion/advertising.. hello? Can someone move their ass please?

On the other hand the other publishers are going to distribute the game later on so its unlikely that they are willing to promote a game that they havent even shipped while another publisher is about to (or already did), this is understandable.

And NA.. what!? Home of the marines (represented in the game), currently involved in two conflicts, the country where people sleep with guns under their beds and no publisher announced yet? Unreal..

You can not show the real differences to ordinary shooter in a 30s TV clip.

There will be no random infinite land in german release according to Suma, and it will be all grass for now for the 505 version as it seems. No random roads, plants and buildings.

Suma : Infinite land will be basically empty, no roads, no buildings, no plants, only hills and grass in ArmA 2. Futhermore, while the technology for infinite terrain is "almost ready" and result look very good, we experienced some minor issues with it and we had to disable it before finalizing German master, therefore you will not see it in the first release of the game. Unless something unexpected happens, you should get in a patch sometimes later, though.

Can't understand why people is so worried about infinite land, damn, you have 225 km2 to play in, and according my point of view, that's enough terrain to play...

Yeah, I agree. In other games I have played the infinite land is dead boring and repedatitive. There is nothing to find there...

LMAO...probably you'll find a yellow ribbon there "POLICE LINE! DO NOT CROSS!" with a Cop standing there saying to everybody "Please move on, there's nothing to see here...". :rotfl:

The infinite land is more of a psychological thing than anything else. Having invisible walls or magic missiles/bullets that shoot you down if you pass beyond the game world creates a feeling of claustrophobia and spoils that illusion of a natural endlessly explorable environment. It worked well with the infinite sea so I’m glad that BIS are incorporating something similar with the terrain.

We probably won’t wander far into it but it is the knowing that ‘you can if you want to’ that makes it worth having IMO.

Frankly, ArmA II should be forgiven a few minor misfires anyway - it's one of the most ambitious videogames ever made. If the final build gets even close to pulling it off, it deserves a place in history.

Oh god, will we see a second masterpiece, OFP ?

But yes he's right. :D ^^
