Do you know what version are the French Lynx?

I saw on a couple french websites "WG13":

http://www.netmarine.net/aero/aeronefs/lynx/index.htm

but then on some other (in english) it says WG13 was the prototype.

Wow, never knew the French had procured the Lynx. I thought we brought their helicopters, not the other way around.

Hi Rock, long time no see. I have given up my tiny chockies per day in a real advent calender because this is more tasty. Can't say I care much for ArmA at the moment but I admire your work.

Take care, P.

I believe they were co-produced by Aerospatiale and Westland. Majority % being from Westland. There was an agreement signed some time in the late 60's(1968 I think).

Lynx Mk 2(FN) and Lynx HAS.Mk 4(FN) were designed for the French Navy. There may be others as well. To be honest though I may be mistaken about these 2.

Someone may want to confirm this info, but I think this is how it went.

The WG13 was the 13th prototype model if memory serves correct. If I have time later I'll try to confirm all this.

The agreement was signed in Feb 1967, and extended to component production ony.

Yup, HAS.2 and 4 are the ones used by the French.

WG13 is Westlands' model number for the Lynx, like WS61 is their model number for the Sea King.

(Sorry for the OT)

Love the idea of the Advent Calendar Rock, and its great to see the progress!

The 13 in WG-13 also refers to the 13th model made in the WG family. Feb 1967 sounds correct. But for some reason the link above says 1968.

Yup my apologies as well for going OT. That's enough from me. biggrin_o.gif

I have an ATI card and AA works fine for me. But i'm just saying for the purpose of the screenshots to turn on the AA, even 2x improves visual quality of jagged edges by miles! I've gotten so spoiled ever since I bought a new rig that I can't even look at arma without a 3km VD and mostly maxed out tounge2.gif.

In any case, good looking stuff! I thought that some of your stuff would land in VBS2, as the attention to detail and accuracy is on simulation standard if you ask me.

As for the manual guidance of missiles I suggest you either have a talk with mando, or the ACE team.

Got the same here after buying a new system last week, in SP everything runs fine on max. in MP a little lower VD.

A very good improvement from 1.5 VD or something tounge2.gif

Dec5-WIP2montage600.jpg

Here’s the second of what promises to be a 3 or 4 part WIP report. When you start a project like this advent calendar it seems like a quick and straightforward job. It really isn't. I went through my bulldozer drive looking at the projects that are likely to be completed and I found quite a few. There are of course some that never will be, but others are driven by outside requirements and really do have a damn good chance of being completed.

<span style='font-size:13pt;line-height:100%'>Day 6</span>

Seaking_mntage.jpg

These two models do the same role but are the backbone of the Royal Navy's amphibious capability. The Seaking airframe has been adapted for many different uses over its life time but these two particular types are optimised for Amphibious Support.

The HC.4 is the dedicated “Commando†variant serving with 845 and 846 NAS. Who’s main tasking is to provide Tactical troop transport and load lifting in support of 3 Commando Brigade Royal marines.

The HAS.6CR serves with 846NAS and provides the same function. The reason for the different designation is that the HAS.6 was previously a dedicated Anti Submarine Warfare airframe. When the RN bought the Merlin HM1 they were retired and put into storage. Shortly after the RN realised a requirement for more helicopter lifting capability. The option to use 5 of the stored airframes was suggested and the aircraft converted to utility spec. This included the removal of the radar, dipping sonar and other specialist kit. These “new†airframes were redesignated HAS.6CR, the CR standing for Commando Requirement.

Seaking is kicking some serious butt. smile_o.gif

I like the cammo pattern.

I would change glass material to make it less whiteish but I suspect the current one is a placeholder.

(BTW I am sure you know it but you can use your own fresnel texture in glass material - decide exactly how much enviroment map is visible for each angle - someone once asked about it on the fiorums and I left some HowTo).

F**k yeah Seaking!

Textures look even better there than on the sneak peak VXR gave me.

Any plans for an armed version like the one at the UOR demo I showed you?

Yeah there will be a GPMG version and an M3M version on the HAS.6CR

Yeah the glass is just the A10 glass RVMAT on top of a light grey white texture. I haven’t really strayed much into glass textures. I’ve been more focused on the mechanics until recently. Now we’re getting into the “finishing†stages it will get reworked.

Have you got a link to the tut?

Have you got a link to the tut?

quite short but here it is:

link

The controll over the effect is surprisingly quite OK.

It's mostely usefull for optical sights in my case. You could use it for example if you want the enviroment map to show more.

Thanks for that Panda.  I appreciate it!

If the Indians swapped out their bows for an AH.1 the cowboys would be screwed. It would be war paint and feathered head gear all the way for me!

This is, obviously a WIP project but its one that alot of people want to hear about so we've given it a day all of its own.

That's a hell of a model for a WIP, with refinement it'll look even more awesome! Man you are a talented bunch at RKSL!!

Was there talk in the ranks of the MOD of turning the AH1 into something more 'Naval'? Would be interesting to see a Naval-ised, Zebra cam'ed Apache ready to support the Bootnecks! (That wasn't a request by the way)

Keep it up guys!

"Sea Trials" were conducted in 2005 and it acheived full "maritime certification" (its not the proper term but i cant remember what it should be) in early 2006.

There wasnt really an serious modification required. All that was necessary was a small upgrade to some seals and a replacment of some normal service parts with higher spec items: filters etc. They didnt even change the paint job!

Originally made to exploit the "Turrets on Fixed wing Planes" system we developed the Desert Hawk Mini UAV is pretty basic. Its small enough to be launched by hand, its made from polystyrene and carries a small camera and microwave control relay for communication.

Were the rotors not modified so they could be quickly folded and unfolded for use on carriers rock? Or was the AH1 able to do this before hand? smile_o.gif

I was under the impression all Apaches could fold their blades. Looking at high res pictures of the AH-1's rotor hub it certainly looks possible. It makes transport, maintenance and ground handling easier. I could be wrong though I'm sure xnodunitx could tell us for sure.

I've seen footage of Apache's being delivered to the sandpit by air transport, they had their rotor blades folded so all 4 were tied together.

Can't find it anywhere, though.
