Arma beta patch 1.09 - released

Recommended Posts

Full release details as well as a perpetually growing list of mirrors can be found here.

This thread is for basic 1.09 feedback, general comments, trouble downloading/installing and the like, there will be a troubleshooting specific thread created in the troubleshooting forum and a single new "ArmA Positive/Negative opinions from 1.09" pinned thread in here.

Please remember that you must be installed to 1.08 before attempting to install 1.09, or it may be unpleasant and messy! The previous 1.08 release thread can be found here smile_o.gif

Good to see it out. Here's hoping the community will be able to help find any remaining issues and get them resolved so that it can become a "real" patch. wink_o.gif

Perfect news and after reading the changelog i feel very positive about this patch.

Will test it a bit and give my feedback, one question though, does the new grass affect Kegetys Lowplants ( or better said the other way around )?

Can this patch be installed on linux server?

Linux server for 1.09 beta is not yet available and will not be until early January.

Windows dedicated server exe arma_server.exe is installed with the patch but note that to install the patch on servers you also need to use beta mod folder content on the server and use beta as mod parameter on the server.

Just in case this has not been noted yet, but this patch brings cool stuff for scripters: string commands & PV for all data types!

Get no sound whatsoever when used with FDF sounds 1.3, regardless of volume levels (fine when I don't load FDF sounds). I'm not suggesting this is BIS's fault, more so that people realise that there is an incompatibility there.

Thanks BIS for some very nice new scripter commands!

Server admins, just to be clear, the new difficulty options are:

DeathMessages=0; //Death messages off

NetStats=0; //Scoreboard off until mission ends

VonID=1; //VOIP talking indicators on

VonID is an important one (IMHO) because it allows you to see who is speaking over radio VON and it color-codes it based on the chat channel. If you intend to use VOIP you will probably want to use that setting to minimize confusion.

The other two are useful if you like playing like that. smile_o.gif

edit: Also, re: sound mods, things have changed in 1.09 that might give you odd performance from them. They will likely need to be updated to account for 1.09's new sound settings, but it is of course up to the individual authors to decide whether they want to modify it now, or wait until the final patch is released to ensure that nothing else changes.
