Rocco 0 Posted November 7, 2007 "We prepare a patch for ArmA, which will hopefully be released in one or two months. Currently we plan to contain following fixes or improvements: * Some AI detection fixes * Fixed fog on DX 10 cards * Fixed anti-cheat signature timeout * Added some additional anti-cheat measures * More reliable VON * Fixed CTD when resuming from a save in large and/or script intensive missions * Fixed spontaneous death while driving a motorcycle in MP * Fixed AI soldier can't fire behind the sandbags * Fixed compatility problems caused by various copy protections uses The patch will be completely independent on Queens Gambit, which will be running on 1.08, and no release data for this patch is set yet but we intend to first release it as public beta 1.09 before final release will be made available. Linux Server Linux Server is in works for quite a long time now. We are getting very close to first closed beta testing stage. Editing Good news for all the creative people around is that it will be very easy to port any custom work from ArmA to ArmA 2, much easier than from Operation Flashpoint. Some of the editing tools (Oxygen 2 + Visitor 3) are already released as release candidates, some other are getting close to it - we intend to release entire pipeline (including data packing and addon signing tools) very soon and make final polished release of the entire tool suite in next few weeks..." Source: http://www.bistudio.com/index.php?op...9&Itemi d=118 ___ "one or two months", so we can expect a patch in less then a week then? The patch log doesn´t show big, massive changes, so what takes you so long? ArmA2? Please give us some news what´s going on, many people feel left behind, the game is far from bug free and there are the same bugs ingame since release. Thx for response! suma 8 Posted November 7, 2007 What is taking is so long is especially VoN fixes and anticheat measures. Both need quite large scale testing with external (voluntary) testers involved, which makes turnaround time for any changes in both areas quite long. Still, the patch is progressing quite well and hopefully there will be at least a public beta within a few weeks.

Thanks for the response Suma. I especially am happy to read about extensive VON fixing/testing. This feature is IMHO important in Multiplayer Games to create a great immersion effect and should kill most of the trouble that external voice programs bring when playing with multiple teams that aswell need to communcate between eachother. Not to mention people that are inside vehicles and should not overload the comms within the team when operating their vehicles. Im sure the anticheat features will suit a lot of public server admins and players out there, nice to hear you guys put a lot of effort there. Better take long enough to ensure a great product, instead of getting another "ArmA v1.0"

Thank you so much for this really fast answer, Suma, much appreciated! Regarding the voluntary testers, feel free to PM, i have a lot of times on my hand and play ArmA all day (my computer science studys are boring at the moment :P). Thx again! Lepardi 0 Posted November 7, 2007 Will you fix the flying T-72's? I was making a mission yesterday, while I noticed a T-72 bounced up in the air like 200m, I videoed it.

Maddmatt 1 Posted November 7, 2007 What about fixing the goddamn Grenade Launchers? there are 3 worthless Units cause of a bug every modder can fix in 5 minutes. But i want it official. Redesign the recoil and the smoke. Thats all. You mean vehicle mounted grenade launchers?...damned yes that should have been fixed a year ago! The smoke (it's the tank muzzle flash ) can be fixed in an addon. But the recoil can't, it seems to be hardcoded in the "shotshell" simulation which the grenades use. It can be worked around by using the bullet simulation, but then it looks like a bullet too. I wonder why that was left like that Anyway I'm looking forward to 1.09. Hope the savegame bug is fixed for good. I see it mentioned, so I'm hoping that they can finally be relied on. I also hope some other bugs are fixed. Some are just little config changes that even I could fix, but they should be included in the core game (TOW smoke trail and the already mentioned grenade launcher smoke for example). It will probably be the last (or almost the last) patch, so I don't want to be left wanting another
lee_h._oswald 0 Posted November 7, 2007 A few weeks... I'm not amused. Let's hope the GF8800 fog bug is finally gone, so I can "celebrate" the 1 year anniversary of arma... MfG Lee

Balschoiw 0 Posted November 7, 2007 I guess I´m not the only one who doesn´t hold his breath for 1.09 anymore. The list of needed fixes is way longer than the list of proposed fixes.
frederf 0 Posted November 7, 2007 The ammo bug that's been around since Day 1 OFP... when are you guys going to fix that? The one where overloading a box causes it to spill out contents over and over again, lagging servers to high heaven.
krycek 349 Posted November 7, 2007 I only want 2 things fixed or tweaked,or improved etc. in 1.09. The bug where you're commander of an Abrams and you have another M1A1 under your command, place 2 T-72 in front of them and the second M1A1 will destroy only one of them.I wish it was just like in Ofp,back then AI allied tanks had their own targets and I had mine,I don't have time on battlefield to babysit them target this, target that. Second bug I wish something should be done about the chopper support.Either decrease the accuracy of those T72,BRDM(and so on) machine guns or give the choppers more armor.Right now they must have snipers on those machine guns it's "bang-bang Cobra down,bang-bang look another Cobra down".Shilka it's ok,it's supposed to be an AA unit but a few shots from an BRDM and 2 highspeed Cobras down?!
