NeMeSiS 11 Posted May 30, 2007 Best to worse: Dutch English German French (which is very bad, ive never been good at it, especially the pronunciation confuses the fuck out of me ) Not counting all the random words i know from random languages..
stevevcb 3 Posted May 30, 2007 Aside from English, I can make myself understood in French, know a few bits and pieces of (mostly beer-related) German and Spanish, and can say "hello," "goodbye" and "where are my trousers?" in Irish. I need to get my priorities right next time I try learning a language.
baddo 0 Posted May 30, 2007 Hmmm... From best to worse: Finnish  (Native) English  (This has been forced on me through TV and computer, but I think it's a good thing...?) Swedish  (Written text is quite easy to follow, spoken is another thing. This was actually compulsory for me in school.) German  (Basic understanding, can get the idea of what is going on. Vocabulary is not large so that brings problems.) I'd absolutely love to master all of the listed languages, plus learn new languages like French, Spanish and Italian. We'll see how life goes for me in this regard. I'd practically have to live in the other countries to have the motivation to learn new languages so not all will likely happen. Balschoiw 0 Posted May 30, 2007 Anida unada jogso, ama wa togan ! I´m curious if anyone understands that. My list: Fluent: German Bavarian Austrian English Not "that" fluent but good enough: Indonesian Balinese Italian (newspapers are no problem and "O, bello oci cjornye" works aswell) Spanish a bit Russian Kikongo Af Soomali French (I understand more than I can speak) Basically all languages basing on latin are easy to understand but with hand and feet and some latin roots you get very far. BlackScorpion 0 Posted May 30, 2007 In order of learning... also pretty much how well I know the languages. 2 first... well, native Finnish and you are free to judge my English, the rest... basic understanding. Finnish English German Swedish French Planning to revise the last 3 a bit, and start learning Russian, Farsi, maybe Arabic and i.e Spanish soon-ish.
MAA3057 0 Posted May 30, 2007 Aww, not fair...the average European knows 3+ languages. A little more then half of Americans are barely bilingual. I guess that's what happens when you live in a continent (Europe) with countries that are a drive away. Anyways, I am fluent in: English Spanish I want to learn/learning: Russian Arabic/Farsi
JdB 151 Posted May 30, 2007 Best - Worst English Dutch (my native language...) German (reasonably well at speaking, not that good anymore at writing since I haven't done so in ages) French (very limited) Edit: and I have no intention on learning anymore, we Dutch will rule the world in a few years time anyway, so start learning in advance
